halo anniversary terminal

Thel pulled out his energy sword as the armored human smacked into him, carrying them both rolling down the corridor until they struck a bulkhead hard enough to make Thel’s vision blur and knock his sword loose.

“I cannot get a good aim,” Zhar shouted, as Thel struggled to get a grip on the powerful human’s rifle.

The loud human gun fired into the floor several times as they fought over it, and then Thel got the barrel in both his hands.

In the Terminal portion of Remaking the Legend, they very deliberately said that they would be ensuring that the videos were compatible with the book canon as well as the games.

This might not be the scene from the Cole Protocol, but it certainly looks a lot like it.

Halo 2: Anniversary, Prologue Terminal 2 - “Unyielding”

Fred-104 and Linda-058 come before the Office of Naval Intelligence to update them on their assault of the Covenant’s Unyielding Hierophant, and to reveal what it might mean for humanity’s fight for survival.

What will you call me...

…when you learn the truth of what I have done?”

Back in 2006, Frank O'Connor said in a interview with MTV:

“We had some other things [in Halo 2] that were secrets within secrets. There’s an aspect of the Arbiter’s character that is still secret to this day and will remain so for good reason.”

This has tormented me over the past few years, especially when Bungie appeared to drop Thel ‘Vadam’s story like a hot potato after the Halo 2 backlash.  It appeared that this aspect of the Arbiter would never be revealed.

343 Industries however has begun to tie his story back into the universe piece by piece.  Halo 2 Anniversary’s terminals in particular will delve into Thel’s military career and the trailer teases distinctly an unknown action of his that could threaten his friendship with John-117.

I have seen some people speculate that it will be the revelation that he glassed Reach, but I am hoping that’s not the case.  The fanbase has known that since Halo 2 - the opening cutscene of the game says it outright.

I’m hoping that this “truth” and “hidden aspect” of Thel are one and the same.  But even more so I am hoping that this revelation will be a shock to both John and the fanbase, and that it is the worst punch in the gut the fanbase has ever had.

Yes, it will have to compete with Halo 4 for that, but a girl can dream.
