summary: game night wasn’t quite going as planned.

a/n: for all you lovely people who may be going through that time of the month, this is for you (and me bc i had cramps all day n im suffering) enjoy

Friday was game night and movie night.

“Yo, Alex, where’d you put the Coke?” John Laurens called, his head stuck inside of the fridge.

“In the drawers with the vegetables,” Alexander Hamilton, who was finishing up an essay, answered from his bedroom.

John looked at you, perched on the countertop, and rolled his eyes. You laughed and swung your legs back and forth, leaning your head back against the cabinet.

You had become friends with the boys your first year of university, although you didn’t quite see them as much as you liked due to your course load. You were taking five classes and spent every minute living in a state of constant stress and worry. You were at school from 9 to 6 every single day, with only a half an hour break at lunch, and when you got home you were either revising, writing essays, or sleeping. The guys tried to get you to go out with them, but you were always too busy. This was upsetting for every party in the situation, but especially you, because you just wished you hadn’t taken so many courses from the beginning. If you hadn’t, you would be able to spend time with people who made you feel genuinely happy and free. Finally, right after your finals in your second year, you had a breakdown (that Hercules Mulligan had to sop up your tears during) and decided that you would take two less classes your third year. By the time September rolled around, you were a lot less stressed. And yes, you still had a lot of work to do, but at least now you could spend some amount of time every week dedicated to your boys. Friday was the day that worked best for everyone. So Friday became your date night.

@atrociouscreations asked for something like, if Percy accepted being a God at the end of the PJO series. And Idk why, but this was the first thing that popped into my head and I had to draw yet. I read awhile ago some headcannons for a dark Percy god, and oh was it so good, that I think some of that was what inspired this…

Does Kara have a period? I mean, I don’t know how Kryptonian bodies work or if their internal organs are the same as ours or if they have uteri or testes or how their reproduction even works but do you think that Kara learned that periods were a thing on earth for people with uteri and planned out one week a month in which to pretend she had cramps and allowed herself to be a little extra moody and always carried around tampons and pads, so that she could give them to people whenever they asked if anybody had any extras? Do you think that she kept a bottle of Motrin in her backpack, despite the fact that she had no use for it, and offered one up every time a classmate complained about cramps or migraines?

Do you think she got really confused at Playtex commercials because “Alex, why don’t you ever run down the beach when you’re menstruating? Why is that liquid blue? Is that what menstrual blood looks like? Alex, why are you laughing?”

Nico has two hands PAP 👏 PAP 👏 PAP 👏

Hey to all those people telling people “ it’s not so bad, just power through the cramps” when they're on their period because it’s not an excuse to miss school/work etc.!

I had bad cramps today, but I tried to “power through it” and went to class anyways, even though my grandmother had to drive me because I couldn’t walk to the bus.

I tried to “power through it” when I started to feel like I was going to throw up in the middle of my lecture, leaving to take a walk outside in the cold to try and clear my head, even though walking made my right side feel as though it was being ripped in two.

I tried to “power through it” when I started getting cold sweat all over my body, taking off my sweater and then putting it back on two seconds later because my body couldn’t decide if it was hot or cold.

I tried to “power through it” when spots started to appear in my vision, and just kept walking towards the exit.

I tried to “power through it” when I started to dry heave, and started walking faster.

I tried to “power through it” when my ears started ringing and the spots took over my vision and I was so so hot but shivering and my side felt on fire and twisted into knots and stabbed all at once.

I tried to power through it to the point where I collapsed in the middle of my college hallway. A stranger brought me to Outreach Services, where I lay on the floor, vomiting, for an hour until somebody could pick me up and take me home.

The school paramedics told me that I had passed out because I put too much stress on my already taxed body. My body was taxed because of hormonal fluctuations and blood loss aka my period.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. In the past when I’ve had cramps like this, I’ve stayed in bed and eaten strawberries and watched MASH all day.

So don’t you DARE tell me that you should “power through the cramps and do it anyways”. Powering through made me pass out. Powering through made me have to be wheeled out of the school in a wheelchair because I couldn’t keep my balance to walk. Powering through made my grandmother with osteoporosis and a tendency to panic have to come pick me up from school and help me up the stairs and almost break her hip when I started to collapse backwards on the front steps. Powering through made my 13 year old brother have to supervise me while I took a bath because I was afraid I would pass out and drown (he was super sweet about it actually; we closed the curtain and he read me Voyage of the Dawn Treader). Powering through made my mother who works to support our family pretty much on her own have to take time off work to come home and make sure I was okay.

In conclusion; If someone feels crappy because of their period cramps, leave them alone. Don’t make them do things anyways, because you might make it worse. And definitely don’t make them feel bad for not wanting to do things because of cramps; that’s the reason I even got out of bed this morning. Be nice to people on their period. Possibly buy them chocolate or painkillers. Nut don’t make them do things when they have cramps, and definitely don’t tell them “it’s nothing, power through” because cramps? Cramps can be one of the worst things you could possibly imagine.

Seriously. Fuck you all.

It had been a little over a week since she arrived at Rika’s apartment. The small space where bright sunlight filtered through the large window and where the air felt welcoming and calm had quickly become cramped and the air now felt heavy and unbearably thick.

She sat on the bed with her arms around her knees, her fists balled around the soft fleece of the oversized beige sweater she wore and her chin rested on the black fabric of her pants. The book she had been reading lay open at her bare feet, her eyes grazed the text but she couldn’t make them focus on the words. And the small table-top lamp no longer gave her enough light to read by comfortably. A continuous barrage of clicking sounds assaulted her ears from the moment she opened her book early in the afternoon until now, when she could no longer bare to look at the page any longer.

She looked over at the source of the noise, the illumination of three computer screens highlighted a crouched silhouette. She watched as he typed furiously, looking from one screen to the next, and thought about how she had not seen him move from that place all day. She sighed and looked away, her long brown hair falling over her shoulder as she picked up her cell phone,

“Why don’t you take a break? You need to eat something” She typed into the chat box. She clicked send and listened as his phone whirred from across the room.

Have I ever told the story of the time where I had a bladder infection and also a kidney stone, and still sat my 2 hour film studies exam? And when I told my dad to take me to the hospital to get myself checked out after wards, he was like, “Why didn’t you just call up and explain why you can’t take the exam today?” and I was like, “Chill dad i’ve had cramps worse than this.” and he just sat there for a while before muttering, “Women scare me.”

Phan fluff: airport

Dan was on his way to go pick Phil up from the airport. It had been long year for them, they had done so much. What with their tour and book and everything. Dan loved that they got to do these things for their fans together but sometimes he wished he just had Phil to himself. He had been feeling even more distant from Phil recently as he had gone away on a family holiday for a few weeks.

Dan was so excited at the idea of being reunited with his boyfriend and he almost wanted the taxi driver to go faster. When he finally arrived at the airport he ran into the inside, checking his phone. 22:56, ‘Crap I’m gonna be late’

Meanwhile Phil was just stepping of the plane, he had a smile on his face and even a slight tan. He had been looking forward to seeing Dan for the whole journey. The flight hadn’t been the best, planes had always been a little cramped for him due to his height, he usually had Dan (who also shared this problem) to cuddle into and fall asleep on but he hadn’t this time.

Dan was so out of breathe, he was heavily panting and his hair had began to curl at the ends, but he had made it. He towered above everyone (one of the advantages of being freakishly tall) looking for the dark haired boy who was at an equal height to him. And then he saw him, the two boys locked eyes and ran towards eachother. They were pushing through and disturbing almost the entire Airport but they didn’t care. Dan jumped into Phil’s arms as Phil wrapped around him, 'I missed you so much’ Dan whispered into Phil’s ear. 'Your hair’s gone all curly’ he giggled. Before Dan could reply Phil kissed him on the cheek, making him blush. 'Phil, we’re in public’
'I don’t care I haven’t seen you in two weeks’ Phil smirked before leaning in to kiss Dan. They looked into each other’s eyes. 'Hey Phil’ the two linked hands 'let’s go home’

Request: Reader is on her period and Newt/Pan help her out

Warnings: none

Notes: done with Newt!

You were the first and only girl in the Glade. You’d been there a month. One entire month. But something happened. You got your period. You were eating a whole lot, had cramps, and were groaning every chance you could. No one knew what the problem was and you were too embarrassed to tell any of the boys. You just said you were feeling sick, so they sent you to the Med-jacks.

“Uh, Y/N… you’re bleeding, um, down there.” Clint said, clearly uncomfortable. Blood had soaked through your pants.

“Ugh,” you groaned loudly from embarrassment. Who could you trust with this problem of yours? “Can you get Newt?”

Clint nodded, leaving the room quickly. Not long after, Newt came rushing in. He told Clint to stay outside of the room while he talked to you.

“Y/N, what’s wrong? Clint told me you were bleeding a lot in… special places. What’s happening?”

“Newt, I’m about to tell you something about us girls and how we work,” you told him while moaning in pain.

Newt nodded. Before you could speak, a wave a pain in your ovaries sparked, causing you to double over. You moaned for a moment, Newt worrying. Your stomach also grumbled for food, despite you eating right before coming to the Med-jacks.

“There’s this thing that girls get once a month. It’s called a period, and Newt, this is it–ugh.” You explained. “We bleed for a few days, okay? Did the Box come up with monthly supplies?”

Newt nodded. “Yeah, it came when Clint got me… You bleed once a month out of your… your… you know.”

“Yes, Newt! Girls bleed out of their private areas, it’s not fun. We cramp and crave all kinds of food. But in the Box, were there weird things in there? Things you’ve never seen before?”

Newt thought a moment then nodded. “Yeah, we opened on. It was this puffy thing that had some sticky stuff on the bottom.”

You nearly face-palmed yourself. They got to the pads. Your moaned once again before talking.

“Jesus Christ, I don’t remember my cramps ever being this bad–ugh.” You gripped your stomach. “Get me those things you wrre playing with. They’re for me. They soak up the blood. Also, get me food. I am starving.”

“How could you be starving? We just ate–”

“Just do it!” You growled. Newt nodded his head, leaving the room. Though you stopped him. “Don’t tell anyone about this, got it?” Again, he nodded then left.

Newt came back with the pads and some food. You quickly took the pads from him, telling him quickly to set the food down and leave. You asked him if he could get you new underwear and pants. He did as told, mumbling how gross this whole thing was.

You quickly got everything ready, removing your pants and underwear. You covered your bottom half with a blanket, waiting for Newt to come back. You munched on food while waiting.

“Here you go,” Newt opened the door. “Are… Are you naked under there?”

“Just the bottom down, now get out!” You snapped at him. Newt quickly closed the door once again.

“Uh, I’ll keep watch? Make sure no one walks in?” Newt said, unsure if he should do that.

“Please, no one needs to see me do this.”

You took care of yourself, sticking on the pad and situating everything. You picked up your stained clothes, opening the door. You looked at Newt, asking him where to put the dirty clothes.

“Uh, right over there,” he pointed at a laundry basket-type thing. You grinned, thanking him.

“So this happens once a month for a few days?” Newt asked, following you. You nodded your head.

“Yep. We get cramps, bleed, stomachs become bottomless pits. It’s not fun at all, and I probably won’t be able to do anything for the rest of the week.”

“Oh… Okay, I can tell Alby that–”

“No one knows about the period. Just tell him I sick. I get sick once a month. I don’t want everyone knowing, it’s gross and embarrassing.”

Newt held his hands up in surrender. He nodded his head, understanding. You tossed the clothes in the dirty clothes pile, heading off to where you slept.

“I’m going to lay down. I feel like I could vomit right now.”

“Okay, I guess feel better? Don’t bleed too much? Uh, call me if you need me.”

You nodded, and Newt almost left before you stopped him again.

“Newt?” He turned around. “Thank you.”

Newt grinned. “No worries. Now get rest. I’ll check back on you every hour, okay?” You nodded, and he left.

You closed your eyes, satisfied that you had someone like Newt in the Glade. He was an understanding guy for the most part. You quickly fell asleep, tired of all the pain you were experiencing. There you took a nap for a few hours, feeling at peace for the moment.

(Fifty)Five minute ficlet (whoops)

@yourtropegirl has been filling my inbox with questions tonight to brighten my mood. So I told her she could give be a FMF request. And she hit me with this. And then it wound up MUCH longer than a FMF should be…

Your stomach was upset and you just felt run down. Not enough that you thought you might need time away from bridge, but just enough that you thought you might need some vitamins or something. Nothing stayed settled properly. You had some wicked cramps in the morning, which then turned into bloat, which then, oh so attractively, turned into gas. You almost wished you were in operations so you could hide in an electrical closet alone, fixing things and farting without anyone catching you.

At lunch, you sat at your table at the mess with Uhura, flicking your lunch around, starving, but unable to eat. She watched, wordlessly, and cocked her head to one side.

“You sick?” She asked.

“I don’t know. I don’t feel good, but I don’t know if I’m sick,” you admitted. “I could barely drag myself out of bed this morning, and I’ve just been feeling gross all day. Like… I need to poop. But can’t.”

Nyota let out a surprised laugh and shook her head. “More fibre, Y/N. And water. Space constipation is the worst.”

Nyota’s advice had been sound, and you increased your vegetable intake and your fluid intake with some small relief, but you still had a general feeling of bloating and pressure. Like something wasn’t moving properly in your guts. It was to the point where you were nauseated every day, all day long. And nothing helped. You’d started dropping weight enough that Jim had noticed.

“Your uniform is baggy, Y/N. Are you sick?”

“I’m fine,” you lied. Jim raised an eyebrow and you looked away, back to your console. Nyota cornered you after shift.

“Seriously, Y/N, what is going on? Why won’t you go check in at MedBay?” She pressed. You sighed and pulled her over to a quiet lounge.

“Remember the Federation Day party Jim insisted we have?” You asked. Nyota smiled and nodded.

“Yeah, it was awesome.”

“Remember when the Brandy came out?” You continued. She nodded again. “Remember the never have I ever game?”

“Yeah, who knew you and Jim were so kinky,” she laughed.

“Yeah, I don’t remember much after that, but I woke up with Bones the next morning.” You dropped your voice to a whisper. She shrieked in surprise anyhow.

“What? Do you remember what happened?”

“We were both naked.” You have her a meaningful look. She shrugged.

“That doesn’t mean anything happened. I mean, you were both so drunk, who knows if the function would have still been -”

“I was achy and walking funny for about three days, Nyota,” you interrupted. Her mouth formed a perfect O. “Needless to say, things have been super awkward ever since, and the last thing I need is to go in with some weird illness and have him thinking I’ve got Gangorian Gonorrhea or something.”

“It can’t be that bad,” she argued. You raised an eyebrow.

“Watch at dinner,” you challenged her.

“Oh my god, he remembers too,” Uhura whispered across the table.

“Kind of hard to forget a naked woman screaming, kicking and falling out of your bed,” you countered. “Particularly considering I accidentally stole his uniform and ran down the hall in Blues.”

She choked on a laugh and shook her head. “Do you still feel sick?”

“Nyota, I would gnaw off my right fucking arm to be able to puke. I’m sure if I could just throw up and clear whatever is blocking me up, I’d feel a million times better.” You flicked your dinner around, taking the occasional bite. But it tasted like sand and made the nausea worse.

The console in front of you was swimming. The lack of food was catching up, finally, and you were having a hard time focussing on your work. You swayed and looked up at Uhura, narrowing your eyes to try to understand what she was saying. Her mouth was moving, but no sound appeared to be coming out.

You attempted to stand to go find out what she was saying, and toppled into Jim’s arms.

“I think it’s well past time we had Bones look you over, Y/N,” he said as he heaved you into his arms and carried you to the turbolift.

“It’s not necess-”

“It’s a direct order from your Captain, Y/L/N. MedBay or the brig. Your choice,” he interrupted as the turbolift doors slid shut. Hearing no further protest, he carried you into MedBay when the door slid open again. Bones looked up and recognized you, eyes widening. He pointed at a biobed and JIm laid you against the hard surface. You closed your eyes, not wanting to look at Bones at all. You were sure your cheeks were on fire enough as it was.

“Uhura says she’s been complaining of nausea and lethargy for a few weeks now, Bones,” Jim offered. You opened your eyes to glare at him, only to have Bones thrust a scanner in your face. He watched the report coming from the tricorder, the furrow in his brow growing deeper as the scan reported. He reached for the hand-held CT device and checked your chest and abdomen.

“Any vomiting, Y/L/N?” He asked. You shook your head.

“I think I’d feel way better if I could,” you admitted. He put the scanner down and palpated your abdomen. You winced as he pressed on the tight skin at your belly button. He picked up the CT again and scanned lower, and then smirked and raised an eyebrow, giving Jim a sly look.

“No vomiting at all?” he clarified. You shook your head and pushed yourself to sitting. “When was your last menstrual cycle?”

If you weren’t already mortified, you were now. “Uh, just shortly before Federation Day, I think. I’d have to double check my calendar.”

“Are your,” he cleared his throat and looked uncomfortable, gesturing at your chest, “uh, your breasts. Are they tender?”

Without thinking you reached up and checked. “Maybe a little more than usual?”

“And you’re fatigued?” He pressed. You nodded. “Needing to void more frequently?”

“She’s on and off the bridge much more than usual,” Jim offered brightly.

“Because Nyota said I should drink more water because I’d been feeling so bloated,” you protested.

“Well, I have good news, Y/L/N, you aren’t dying,” Bones offered, and punched Jim on the shoulder. “And you, you sly dog. You should have said something.”

Jim looked at you in confusion, and then back to Bones. “About what?”

“Well, you rushed her in here so concerned -”

“As a captain would be for any of his crew, Bones!” Jim interrupted. “I’m sorry, Y/N, you’re lovely, but -”

“So it’s not you?” Bones asked, suddenly looking disappointed and a little hurt.

“I’m not sure what you’re asking, Bones, but Y/N and I aren’t involved,” Jim clarified. Bones looked away, almost flinching.

“Can someone please tell me what is going on?” You interrupted, not wanting to hear Jim’s laundry list of why you aren’t attractive to him. You knew he was carrying on with someone in Engineering, and that he thought he was being secretive about it.

“This is a fairly significant diagnosis. Would you like your boyfriend to come offer moral support?”

“There is no boyfriend,” you countered. Jim sat down beside you, and took your hand in his. Bones flinched again and looked away.

“As you captain, I’ll support you -”

“Okay, seriously, am I dying?” You asked.

“No, you’re pregnant,” Bones was dead serious. “I can understand if there’s no boyfriend in the picture how you might not have realized. You’ll need to have a discussion with the father, of course -”

You blanched and gestured for the garbage pail beside Bones, and when he passed it to you, sweet relief as you were finally able to puke. And puke. And puke. Jim retreated with the first heave, but Bones stayed beside you, gesturing for a nurse you bring you a glass of water and a hypo with Zofran in it. When the puking stopped, the tears started, and Bones sat on the biobed beside, you, and wrapped his arm around your shoulder.

“Hey, Y/N, it’ll be okay. If you want me be with you when you talk to him -”

“You fucking moron,” you shook your head as you wiped your mouth. “Who the hell do you think is the father? Federation day, remember?”

Astro Reaction: you’re on your period

Rocky might be a little uncomfortable the first few times just because he wouldn’t exactly know what you wanted him to do, but after you would’ve had your period around him a few times he would know what you liked, what to get you and how to treat you.

Moonbin would be all smiles when he knew you were on your period, not because he thought it was funny but just to make you feel better. He would try to be even nicer than normal, getting you your favorite snacks and asking you what you would like to do.

Eunwoo would be a bit careful around you in an attempt to not get on your nerves. He would do anything you asked though, all with his angel smile. If you had cramps he’d bring you a nice heat pack and cuddle with you if you wanted to.

Jinjin would try his best to make you smile with jokes and overall cute moves, like hugging you from behind when you were standing somewhere. He would probably suggest something like a movie night so you could cuddle up against him.

Sanha would be cautious, probably not knowing exactly what to do. Like Eunwoo though, he’d do his best to do everything you asked of him. He would probably try to make you laugh by using his aegyo.

MJ would probably try to make you smile by smiling himself. He would be one to initiate skinship when he sensed that you were feeling bad, holding you close and not letting go until you wanted to.
