i suggested the prompt ‘Christmas in Summer’ , which.. was actually surprisingly hard to come up with an idea for. Ironic that i live in Australia, and have only celebrated Christmas in summer or tropical weather before. But my idea.. of ‘Christmas in summer’ is pretty much being a hermit crab and staying near the AC; and since PB and Marcy seem like such fans of the sun, i placed them just lounging around.. with mistletoe kisses

“Wonwoo, I know he’s in there,” you said, glowering at the
Wonwoo raised an eyebrow. The time was currently one A.M.
and he had just finished showering after his two other roommates and had gone
directly to answer the door. His hair was dripping wet and he had no
recollection of Mingyu even coming to knock on the door and when he asked the
other two, they also said (weirdly loud) they hadn’t seen Mingyu. Not that
Wonwoo would sell out his friend even if he had seen Mingyu in the room with his
“He’s seriously not in here,” Wonwoo repeated for the fourth
time, sighing slightly.
The clink of the lock and the thump of the door was enough
to alert you that someone had entered the room. You turned onto your side and
refused to look his way.
“If you don’t eat something you’re going to die,” Mingyu
“Good. I don’t want to live like this anyway. I’d rather die
before I drink another human’s blood.”
Mingyu let out an exasperated sigh, “I’m not talking about
blood. If you’re not gonna drink it at least have a peanut butter and jelly
You turned slightly to find the taller, older, and extremely
attractive vampire staring down at you. Slowly, you sat up. Mingyu rolled his
eyes and helped you up and then proceeded to hand you the plate.
“Did you…put something in it?” you asked cautiously, not
“Of course not. You would have smelled it, fledgling,”
Mingyu said, with a cocked eyebrow.
You gingerly picked up the bread and took a bite. After
verifying there was no blood, you began to devour the rest of it like a vacuum
cleaner. Mingyu watched in amusement as you also took the glass of milk and
gulped it down as well.
“Aw, was our little fledgling hungry?” Mingyu cooed
You glared at him, feeling a tiny bit of strength return to
your body, “What are you doing here?”
“Oh you know,” Mingyu shrugged. He sat down on the floor and
cupped his head into his hands, leaning against the side of your bed, “I’ve
been bored lately and I heard we had a new baby in the house.”
You continued to glare at him.
“So what? Am I going to have to keep calling you fledgling?”
Mingyu asked, continuing to stare at you with his soulless eyes.
You told him your name and he echoed it, like a child
learning new words in preschool. And then, at that moment, a bright smile split
onto his face. It was one that was completely unexpected, one that you didn’t
think a dead being that drank the blood of humans was capable of. He looked
innocent and…cute, even.
“I’m Mingyu! I hope we can be friends?”
Mingyu’s smile turned into a pout, “Well…I guess it’s
impossible. Since you’re still so stuck on the whole human thing.”
You rolled your eyes.
Mingyu pulled out a pack of gum and opened it. You felt
yourself go dizzy and blank out for a moment before being pulled back to
reality. You stared at the pack in his hands as he popped the pink strip into
his mouth. He looked at you, rather innocently, and held it out to you.
“What is that?”
“Blood gum,” he said, matter-of-factly. Mingyu turned the
pack in his hands, “Um…O-type, it says.”
You turned away begrudgingly.
“It’s artificially flavored,” Mingyu coaxed, “It tastes like
blood but it’s not really. It’s fake blood. You technically wouldn’t be eating
a human if you had some. This stuff is really good, but I think AB tastes
better actually. O-type is too common.”
You continued to ignore him, even when he pulled out a strip
and began to wave it near you.
“It’ll get you accustomed to the taste.”
Mingyu did stop, in fact, but he just stopped taunting you.
“If you don’t drink blood soon, you won’t die,” Mingyu
You turned towards him slightly, “Wh…what?”
Mingyu held up a finger as he blew a bubble, popped it, and
then returned to his serious state, “I said you won’t die.”
“You’ll turn into a monster,” Mingyu said. “You’ll be a
zombie thirsting for human blood, which is worse than a real vampire. You’ll be
hunted by the human world and shunned by vampires. You won’t have anyone on
“Then I’ll die in the end anyway…”
“But you’ll hurt people before that. Hundreds. Millions.”
Mingyu stuck the pack of O-type gum in your face again with
a small, friendly smile, “Come on. I’ll steal some of Jun’s blood packs for you
later. You and him can be pack-buddies. Though, he likes them cold…I’m not
quite sure what your taste would be.”
Still, you refused.
“Mm…then you’d rather become a mass murderer? How about
this! If you really don’t like it after ten years, then I’ll kill you myself,”
Mingyu nodded, but then shook his head, “Okay, how about
five? Five years?”
The hesitance was still obvious in your eyes so Mingyu took
out the wrapped strip of gum and waved it in front of you. He unwrapped it
half-way and edged it closer to your mouth. Finally, you took the strip and
began to chew. It disgusted you how much you enjoyed it, yet at the same time
it was so satisfying.
“Aigoo,” Mingyu reached up and stroked your head, “Aren’t
you a good little baby.”
You glanced at him slightly and rolled your eyes, ignoring
the soft beating that was starting up again in your chest.
“Tomorrow, I’ll bring you a fresh pack of stolen blood!”
You grabbed Mingyu’s wrist, “Where are you going?”
Mingyu smiled in amusement, “Why?”
“Um…it’s just…I…” you shrank into your bed slightly.
Mingyu patted your head again and smiled gently, “I’ll come
back tonight if you want?”
Mingyu kissed your forehead and continued out the door.
Once he left, you clutched your heart and rubbed the spot
slightly, “That’s weird…why is my heart beating?”
