Bombshell

An anon asked for a Reid fic where the reader is British and he gets turned on by her accent.  The team teases him for it and he eventually has to explain to the reader why he gets so weird whenever she talks.  I love this request, I really hope you like it!  Added in here a classic Spencer Reid Quote, shout out to anyone who can find it!

It gets smutty!  Some fluff ensues at the end, it’s super cute!

UnBeta’d so sorry for any errors, also flood warning!

“As soon as Agent Y/L/N gets here, we are going to start the briefing,” Hotch said to the team, who were all still sitting around at their desks before disappearing into his office.

“Ready for the new team member, pretty boy?” Derek teased from his seat with a smirk.

“What?” Spencer asked nonchalantly.  He knew Y/N was British.  She’d been in for numerous interviews and when she was in the training field, all the other trainees were talking about the ‘British Bombshell’ that was joining the BAU team.

“You know what,” Derek replied.

“Does Reid have a thing for accents?” Prentiss asked.  She looked at the genius with playful eyes.

“No, he has a thing for British accents,” JJ said, shaking her head.

“I see,” Emily said with a smirk similar to Derek’s.

“I don’t know if I like the looks on your faces,” Rossi said as he walked up.  After inspecting the teasing smiles of the three agents, he clocked the blush on Reid’s face.  “What’s wrong with you, coffee catching up to you this morning?”

AN: Hey guys! I know I have like three requests to do and another chapter to Camo but I managed to do this in my spare time between finals. Tomorrow is the last day, so I’ll be updating much sooner than I have been!

You hadn’t planned for this to happen. Really, you hadn’t. You weren’t the type of girl to sneak around. Luke was such a sweet boyfriend to you and was honestly was everything you could ever want.

Except there was a slight problem, Spencer. The two of you had been close friends since you started working at the BAU but he never seemed interested to be more. So eventually once Luke became your boyfriend, you couldn’t help but still be curious about Spencer.

The flirting started out subtle. Accidentally brushing his leg, sending goofy barely clothed snapchats, and always adding snarky comments on to entice him.

It was fun until the two of you ended up alone in the elevator. You had no idea that he would actually act on what you had been doing, truly you believed he was too dumbfounded to notice. Those fifteen seconds proved you to be very very wrong.

As you stepped into the elevator you couldn’t help but feel awkward. You flashed a smile as the doors were closing just to be friendly but before you could say a word Spencer had backed you into the hand railing.

“Wanna explain yourself Y/N? Because to me, you’re just playing with fire.” Spencer gave you a slight smirk before leaning in just close enough that you could feel his breath on your neck.

“I don’t know what you mean?” Playing dumb wasn’t your strong suit, but fuck it.

Spencer let out a laugh and laced his hand up your arm and onto your shoulder, just light enough to give you goosebumps,“What was that?”

“K-kiss me Spence.” you mumbled under your breath.

Once his lips connected with yours, that was it.

Although it was only one kiss that day, it had started a forest fire. As much as you knew you should stop, you only wanted more.

The nights you went out with your friends had been ending at Spencer’s place. Except it wasn’t always sex that you wanted, sometimes all you wanted was to be around him.

Luke had made a habit of coming over before work with breakfast around sevenish, so sneaking in at six became the new normal. Except today you managed to slip up.

You shot up in bed once Spencer’s alarm had began to go off. 6:45 a.m. Oh fuck. You usually would set your alarm a couple hours before his went off, but you had completely forgotten your phone at home last night.

“Y/N? What’s going on?” Spencer rubbed his eyes trying to regain some strength and placed his hand on your shoulder.

“I forgot I didn’t have my phone so I completely slept in and now Luke is going to be there without me. I’m screwed.”

“Baby stop, stop. It’ll be okay, just say you stayed at Y/F/N’s house. He won’t know the difference.”

You nodded thinking that could possibly work as you were putting on your clothes that were scattered on the floor.

As you were getting ready to leave you stopped and sighed, “I’m sorry I’m so complicated Spence.”

Spencer shook his head and walked towards you, “You are not complicated Y/N. The circumstances are just hard. I’m the moon, he’s your sun.”

Once you pulled into the driveway you saw Luke’s truck parked in front of your garage. You were so scared this wasn’t going to work.

As you opened the door you could feel your heart in the pit of your stomach. Luke was sitting at the kitchen table with a bag that could only be donuts when you walked in. It didn’t look like he had been there that long but you couldn’t tell.

Once you made eye contact he budged a little in the chair, “Could we talk Y/N?”

You nodded as you walked toward the seat across from him and sat down, “I’m sorry about last night. It was late so I just crashed at Y/F/N’s house.”

Luke rolled his eyes at your comments and slid your phone across the table. “Wanna go ahead and read those texts from last night?“

Spencer Reid: 1:30 a.m

“Are you coming over?”

Spencer Reid: 1:45 a.m

“Babe?”

Spencer Reid: 1:50 a.m

“Just text me when you can so I know you’re okay..”

You couldn’t breathe. Luke knew about you and Spencer and nothing could have prepared you for this moment. You looked up at Luke and couldn’t form the words to apologize.

Once a few seconds passed you started to open your mouth when Luke shook his head as if whatever you had to say meant nothing, “Don’t Y/N.”

“Luke.. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for this to happen I swear.” you choked out.

Luke laughed and stood up from the table to grab his glass of orange juice, throwing it full speed at the wall and shattering into hundreds of pieces, “How long has it been going on?”

You shook your head and wiped the tears that had escaped down your cheeks. This was the first time Luke had been angry at you, which consequently made you feel like 100 degrees sitting there.

“Not gonna tell me? That’s okay. I’ll just ask your good friend Spencer.” Luke reached for your cell phone off the table.

“Stop Luke, please. Leave him out of this.” your tears had turned into heavy sobs by this point and there was no use trying to calm down. This was a nightmare.

You could barely hear Luke interrogating Spencer about the two of you over your crying. Without realizing your breathing had become hard and catching your breath felt nearly impossible while Luke was still going off.

Once Luke hung up the room was silent for a few seconds until you heard a quiet “we’re done” out of Luke’s mouth and heard him walk out.

It wasn’t five minutes that you were alone before Spencer was in your driveway.

Luke had managed to leave your front door wide open which let Spencer walk right in. Frantically he looked around the front of the house for you, “Y/N?”

A few seconds later Spencer stuck his head into the kitchen and saw you sitting at the table. You had put your head on your lap trying to catch your breath to calm down but were failing miserably.

The second Spencer saw you he ran in front of you crouching down,“Hey hey hey.. baby look at me.”

You gripped Spencer’s hand that was placed on your knee and looked up at him. Spencer quickly noticed how sweaty your palms were and diagnosed your breathing patterns.

“You’re hyperventilating, match my breaths, okay?”

You nodded and took a deep breath once he had. Five seconds inhaling, holding it for a couple, and slowly exhaling for seven. Spencer repeated this process with you until you felt your heart stop racing.

After about five minutes you were able to sit up and breath normally but Spencer was still eyeballing you unsure of your state.

As you wiped your eyes you realized your makeup from the previous night had run down your face. You must’ve looked like a clown, and let Spencer see you like this? Great.

“I’m sorry about all of this. Especially the part where I look like Bobo the clown.”

He shook his head at your comment not finding any humor in it, “You don’t need to apologize for anything but you do not look like a clown, you’ll always be so beautiful to me Y/N.”

You sniffled at that, “If that’s true, why didn’t you show any interest when I did? I wouldn’t have gotten tangled up with Luke. I just wanted you.”

“I just.. I didn’t want to mess anything up. I’m sorry I took too long realizing you were what I wanted.” Spencer looked down at your floor hoping you’d say it wasn’t too late or that you’d give him another shot.

You sighed and nodded, “So what do we do? Or, what do you want to do? About us, I mean.”

“I want you Y/N. I truly do. That is if you could give me a chance to be your only man. I can’t sneak around anymore.”

You shook your head, “Luke and I are over for good Spence. You don’t have to worry about that, but about what you said earlier about being my moon? You’ll always be both my sun and moon.”

Spencer took your hands in his and smiled, knowing this was all he’d been wanting for months. Both of your smiles radiated as he placed your lips on his.

You curled your knees up to your chest, hugging yourself tight.  You had just gotten off the phone with Hotch, and he broke the news that Daniel Gunther, the father of your child, was dead.  He died that evening in his prison cell, and although you were relieved that your rapist was gone for good, you couldn’t help but wonder what this meant for Charlie, your son.  He was the moon, stars, and sun in your eyes and you didn’t know what you were ever going to tell him when he asked who his father was.

Although he wasn’t old enough to understand much about it yet, you knew he would eventually ask who his real father was, since you met Spencer well after he was born.  He was bound to know that he wasn’t his real dad.

Sighing, you turned the TV on in Spencer’s bedroom.  You had moved there with Charlie a few months back since you’ve been dating for a while.  To your relief, both of the men in your life loved each other immensely, and that just gave you a truly warm feeling in your heart anytime you thought about either of them.  Spencer may not be his dad, but he was the perfect father, and that is all you could ask for.

You uncurled your legs and stretched them out in front of you on the bed, focusing your attention back to the TV.

“He’s finally asleep,” you heard a soft voice say from the door.  You looked over to see Spencer entering the room and your heart skipped a beat, the love you had for the man evident every time you saw him.  “That kid has got so much energy.”

“I know.  It’s a miracle when you get him to bed any earlier than midnight,” you said.  Your voice was softer than it usually was, and Spencer could tell.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” he asked, sitting on the bed next to you.

You shook your head and turned off the TV.  “I just got a call from Hotch.  Daniel’s dead.”

Spencer’s eyes widened slightly at the news.  “When?”

“This evening.  They found him dead in his cell.  The guards think it was a suicide,” you replied, looking down at your hands folded in your lap.

“Wow,” was all he said.  After a few moments of silence, he grabbed your hands and you looked up at him.  “What’s the problem?” he asked gently.

“Charlie.  His dad is dead.  What do I tell him?” you asked.

“Well, you don’t have to tell him anything right now.”

“But he’ll start asking questions, Spence.  He knows you aren’t his actual dad and he’ll want to know about him.  I’ve tried to come up with a million lies to tell him about his dad, and I know that when the time comes, I won’t have the strength to lie to him,” you said.  You surprisingly weren’t crying.  Your voice was soft but rushed.  He knew you were trying to be strong for your son.  That you would do anything for him.  And right now, in that moment, he knew he would do the same.  Charlie was moon, sun, and stars in his eyes, too, and looking at you in that moment, with your hair unwashed and wearing nothing but one of his t-shirts and a pair of panties, he knew you and Charlie were going to be a part of him for the rest of his life.

“Stay here for just a second,” he said to you, getting up and walking out the door.  You had no clue what he was doing, but you watched him walk out the door and waited until he returned moments later, with a hand behind his back.  You narrowed your eyes at him as he sat in front of you on the bed, cross legged, his crazy mismatched socks touching your own bare feet.

“I get that you’re scared about Charlie, but the truth is, he’s a really strong kid.  There are plenty of things you can tell him about who his father was and what he did for a living, really the possibilities are endless.  But why don’t we wait until he is old enough to truly understand?  When he asks who his father is, just say it’s me.  Because as of right now, it is, isn’t it?  I mean you both live with me, and I love you both and I see us as a family, don’t you see us as a family?”

Tears were beginning to stream down your face as you nodded vigorously at him.  You did see the three of you as a family.

“And I think the best way to secure that picture,” he said, bringing forward his hidden hand.  He was holding a small red velvet box.  “Is to ask you this question.”  His voice was shaking, as was his hands as it opened the box to reveal the radiant cut diamond ring.  You brought your hand to your mouth, hiding your shy smile.  “Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N.  Make me the luckiest and happiest man on earth by allowing me to be in you and your son’s lives for the rest of mine.  Will you marry me?”  Tears began to fall from his eyes, too.  You looked at the ring, small and delicate, but bright and beautiful.  All you could manage was more nodding and a choked out yes.

The smile on Spencer’s face was priceless.  In a hurry, he took the ring out of its box and put it on your finger, holding onto your shaking hands with his.

“I love you so much, Spence,” you said through the happiest tears you’ve ever cried.

“I love you, too, y/n,” he replies in a croaky voice.  He pulled you into his arms, enveloping your body in his.  And that night, without the words, Spencer showed you just how much he loved you.

“Briefing in five,” JJ said, passing by your desk that Monday.  You and Spencer kept quiet over the weekend, keeping the news of your engagement to yourselves and Charlie.  Going into the bullpen that day, you managed to keep your left hand occupied as not to notify anyone of your news just yet.

“Hey, y/n.  I heard about Daniel,” Prentiss said, coming up to your desk.

“Yeah,” is all you said.  I mean, what could you say.  Without thinking, you ran your hand through your hair, flashing your ring to a gaping Emily.

“Um, what is that?” she asked.  You quickly hid your hand behind your head.

“What is what?” you asked nervously, pretending to scratch.  For a profiler, you were bad at lying.  Emily grabbed your hand and pulled it to her, eyes widening at the diamond upon your finger.

“Oh.  My.  God!” she yelled just as Garcia walked by.

“What are you screaming about that I am not included in?” she asked.  Emily shoved your hand out to let Garcia get a good look at it.  “Oh my god!” she said, grabbing your hand too.

“Guys, please,” you said grinning.  “We need to get ready for the briefing.”

“When did this happen?” Emily asked with a smile.

“Friday night.  He said he was going to do it later this month but he just couldn’t help it I guess,” you told them, grinning even bigger.

“Aww.  My heart is so happy for you two,” Garcia said.  Her eyes were still on your ring, probably calculating how much money it costed.

“Am I interrupting something little ladies?” Morgan said as he walked up to the group.  Penelope grabbed your hand and stuck it out to him.

“Reid proposed Friday.  You’re boy didn’t even tell you, did he?” she asked him with a smirk.

“Guys, we need to- oh my god,” JJ said.  “Did Spence propose?”

“Well, I guess the cat is just totally out of the bag,” you said with a roll of your eyes.

“What are you guys talking about?” Everyone turned their heads to Spencer, sitting at his desk with a fresh cup of coffee, oblivious.

Gingerly, you hold up your hand to flash the ring to him.  He pressed his lips together in obvious embarrassment.  You shot him a look of apology as you knew he wanted to be the one to tell everyone.

“How did you propose to your girl without telling me?” Morgan asked, but he was still smiling.

“Guys,” you all heard Hotch from the briefing room.  With that one word, everyone straightened up and made their way to the room where him and Rossi were waiting.

“JJ, mind telling me why all of you are late?” Hotch asked, handing out the files for her in frustration.

“Pretty boy asked y/n to marry him,” Morgan answered for her.  That made Hotch look over at you and Spencer in surprise.

You shrugged and held up your hand once again to show David and Hotch the diamond.

“Well, I say that as soon as this investigation is closed, we celebrate with a few drinks and dinner,” Emily said taking a seat.

“Congrats,” is all Hotch said to you two, but you could see the hint of a smile on his lips.

“I’m buying,” Rossi added before turning to the board to listen to JJ for the briefing.  You looked over at Spencer with a wide smile, and he smiled back at you, grabbing your hand across the table to hold.

You were absolutely the happiest woman on earth.

“Garcia we need a location,” Hotch demanded again.  His FBI vest was already strapped on tightly.  He was ready to find Reid.

“I-I’m trying my hardest sir,” Penelope stuttered in panic.  Tears were rolling down her cheeks in agony of not knowing where her boy wonder was.

But you felt the worst of everyone.  Not only was Spencer your boyfriend, but you felt as if it was your fault he had been taken by the unsub.  You were supposed to keep a close eye on him and now he was gone, probably being tortured somewhere unknown.

“The phone he was using must’ve been destroyed because it’s signal is completely gone, I can’t even see which towers it’s been near,” Garcia said.  Her finger were typing furiously at the keyboard.

You thought back to the phone conversation Hotch had with the unsub.  He told you all something you knew was important, but all you could think about at the time was making sure Spencer was okay, so your mind tuned out the deep hollow sound of his voice.

Suddenly, Hotch’s phone began to ring for the third time that night.  He looked over at you, seeing the pain evident in your eyes and decided to answer, setting the phone on the table and putting it on speaker without saying a word.

“How’s my friend Aaron Hotchner doing?” the unsub said.

Hotchner nodded his head at you, signalling you to speak.  You wiped furiously at your tears and steadied your voice, knowing you didn’t want to show this scumbag any kind of fear.

“Tell me where you are,” you said in a stern tone.

“Well, well, looks like we have a feisty one.  If you’re smart, young lady, you will let me speak to Aaron.”

“I will let you speak to him as soon as you tell me where you are,” you replied.  There were still tears pouring from your eyes, but your voice remained elevated, not giving away your broken demeanor.  You looked at Penelope, who was working to get any sort of signal on the new phone number.  She was good at her job, all you needed to do was buy her time.

“You must be Y/N.”  He dragged out your name, giving it an eerie emphasis.  You channeled your inner Spencer and tried to recall what it was the unsub had said to Hotch on their previous phone call.  As your mind raced, he continued to speak.  “I know all about you.  Yes, the youngest member of the BAU, moved in from Utah, what, seven years ago?  You used to work as a lawyer but moved up to the FBI to follow in your father’s footsteps since he died in action.”

His words were supposed to hurt, but you felt nothing but the sudden feeling of realization.  He knew too much about you, there was no doubt on who you were speaking to.

“Richard Barkley,” you said.  That name haunted you forever, and this unsub didn’t match his M.O.  But with the way the unsub stopped talking, you knew you were right.  “Richard.  Barkley,” you repeated, putting emphasis on his name.

“Well done, my dove,” the voice said on the line.  You looked over at Penelope, who stopped looking for the phone signal.  Instead, she pulled up his address, but you knew that he wasn’t there.  “I guess you’re smarter than I thought, but I just don’t think you’re smart enough.”

“’I just love to sit here in the Spring’,” you said, repeating the words you’d heard him say over the phone earlier. “’The sight is lovely, don’t you think, Dr. Reid?  Quite the sight indeed’,” you finished, hanging up the phone without hesitation.  “I know where Spence is,” you said while rushing out the door, the rest of the team close behind you.

You knew you had to move fast.  Richard wasn’t one to hesitate, and you knew you would die thinking about what he might do to Spencer.

Police cars were already surrounding the gazebo, and as soon as the SUV you were in pulled up, you were out of your seat and running to the steps.

“It’s underneath it somewhere,” you told the team.  Suddenly, gunshots rang out from below the ground, and Morgan was running to a hidden door, opening it and running down the steps.  Prentiss, you, and Hotch followed close behind, guns up and ready to take fire if necessary.

Once you were on the hard floor of the cellar, you saw Spencer’s lifeless body in the corner, a pool of blood underneath him, pouring from his chest.  Another shot rang out, followed by a few more, but you didn’t care.  You ran to Spencer feeling every inch of you collapse at the sight.

When you reached him, you held his face so gently as if one wrong move, he would break.

“We need paramedics, now!” Rossi yelled, kneeling beside you.  You had no clue when he showed up.  “Y/N, he is alive, okay?  He’s breathing.”

The sounds around you drowned out as your heart ached for your boyfriend.  Your tears began to mix with the blood on his shirt.

“Spencer, please oh my god,” you started to say as the paramedics kneeled next to you and Hotch tried to pull you away, but you kicked and screamed trying to escape his grasp.

“Y/N stop!” he yelled, tightening his grip on you.

“Clear,” you heard a medic say, and Spencer’s body jolted.

“Please!” you screamed, still struggling against Hotch.  The room was spinning.

“Y/N!” Morgan shouted, helping Hotch hold you.

“We need to get him out of here,” one of the medics said, laying out the stretcher.

You finally stopped struggling and fell into your boss’s arms, your legs completely failing you.  As you sobbed into his chest, you saw JJ and Emily crying in the corner while Rossi talked to the medics.

Your world felt like it was slowly falling apart.

Spencer was in surgery for almost two hours, and your foot didn’t stop bouncing the entire time.  Emily sat next to you, holding your hand.  Morgan was out of his seat for the millionth time, pacing again.  Hotch was behind you, holding firmly onto your shoulders to keep you from trying to get up anymore.  Rossi was sitting across from you, reading a magazine.  JJ was sitting with Henry and trying to explain to Will what happened without breaking down.  Penelope was on the other side of you, crying just as hard as you were.

They were all scared about Spencer, but they were mostly scared about you.

“Dr. Spencer Reid?” you all heard from the door.  Morgan was the first to the doctor, followed by everyone else.

“Tell me you’ve got some food news,” he said to him.

“I do.  Your agent lost a lot of blood, but the bullet was only about an inch deep.  We were able to get it out without losing much more blood.  He’s in recovery, but he may not wake up for another hour or so.  The receptionist will give you the room number.”

The amount of relief you felt was overwhelming, enough to knock you off your feet once again, causing you to fall back into your chair.

“Thank you,” Hotch said to the doctor.  He turned back to you and watched as you ran your hands through your hair.  Your eye were bloodshot and your nose was runny, and he couldn’t help but wonder what you would’ve looked like if things ended up differently.

“How about you stay here overnight?” he asked you.  You just nodded knowing you wanted to be the one to see him when he woke up.  Morgan, Garcia, Prentiss, JJ, Will, and Henry all made their way to Spencer’s room while you sat.  Rossi sat next to you, not really wanting to take you out of his sight.

“Why don’t you go with them?  I’ll go when she does,” he told Hotch.  Hotch nodded and walked towards the elevator to catch up with the rest of them.

“I love him,” you suddenly admitted.  It wasn’t a secret or anything but it was all you could think to say.

“I know,” was all Rossi replied.

“Barkley killed my dad,” you said.

“Barkley is dead.”

“He’s had it out for me ever since he went to prison.  I was the one who put him behind bars,” you said.  All this information was old news to Rossi.

“Richard Barkley is dead, y/n,” he repeated.

“He changed his M.O. to throw us off,” you replied.

“He’s dead.”  Hearing him repeat it over and over again was reassuring.

“I love Spencer so damn much,” you said again, another tear making its way down your cheek.

“I know,” he repeated again.

An hour and a half later, it was Henry’s bedtime, so JJ and Will left to get him home.  The rest of the team aside from Rossi decided to call it a night as well.

“You can go home, you know,” you told him while reading a book next to Spencer’s bed.

“I think I’ll stay here a bit longer.  I’ll be in the lobby.  Take care of her, Spence,” he said, causing you to look up immediately hearing your boyfriend shuffle beside you.

“Oh my god, Spencer,” you practically shouted.  His eyes fluttered open, a warm smile appearing on his face.  Careful not to hurt him, you gave him a hug.  “Babe,” you breathed.

“You know, our plant at home is gonna die,” he said, causing you to crack a smile.

“I’m so happy you’re okay,” you told him, brushing his hair out of his eyes.

“I’ve been shot before.  I guess I’m just used to it by now,” he said.

You two sat, watching each other.  His eyes were full of light looking into yours and you felt your heart flutter at the thought of how much you loved this man.  He was your lifeline.

“I don’t know what I would do without you,” you said, a single tear falling from your eye.  He reached up to brush the tear away with his thumb, holding your face so tenderly as if you were the one who had been shot and he didn’t want to break you.

“I love you y/n,” he replied, continuing to brush his thumb against your cheek.

“I love you, too Spencer,” you replied.  You grabbed his hand and leaned in to press your lips against his.

You spent the rest of the night reading your book to Spencer and sharing sweet kisses every now and then, attempting to make up for the time he was asleep.  You truly felt so warm in his presence, and you know you would do anything for him, and he for you.
