scanlan/keyleth because they barely talked.
tbh I’ve been mulling this over for days but in the end I just don’t think it would ever work.
But I think maybe, eventually, they do start to talk more. I think they might see more of each other, especially as they get on in years. I think maybe they’re both a little nostalgic but have learned how to let go of what is done. I think they probably talk more of what is than what was. I think Scanlan never stops giving her shit, and I think Keyleth grows into her duty and herself and dishes it out in kind (especially when he is old and crotchety, and she is still-young, and they give each other constant shit because it is familiar––and sad, yes, but there can be comfort in it nevertheless).
And I truly adore the headcanon of Keyleth being there when they bury him next to Pike and Grog, just outside of Westruun, the city shining in the golden afternoon sun, heat a hazy blanket and the mountain piercing up up up into the sky beyond. (And then she is the last and, well. She has some time yet, but she will see them again. Eventually.)
