Directing and writing are so exhilarating to me because you get to make something that is your vision. I feel like having the power to make anything feel and look the way I want it. You don’t get to do that as an actor where you are part of someone’s story. You contribute hugely and may change it for the better, but you don’t have an overview of the piece as a whole - which, eventually, is frustrating.
It’s easy to fall in love with Phoebe Tonkin. She is the kind of girl that your little sister is in love with, your boyfriend is secretly in love with and if you’re honest with yourself in terms of girl crushes, you are too.
I don’t think anyone chooses to have their personal life on display for the world to see and judge, but at the same time, I won’t stop living my life and going with my heart. Everyone deals with judgment and other people voicing their opinions without ever knowing the full and true story. People won’t stop spreading things they’ve heard through the grapevine, or creating stories based on a random picture. It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in. There will always be people who react even when they don’t know what’s going on.
David Bowie wears tons of makeup. He’s got a whole suitcase full of makeup. He put some on in front of me and he even painted my toenails blue. That night he performed with one hand with blue nail polish and the other one green. David is the sexiest one around. I mean, he’s just so out of sight! Like, you’ll walk into a room and he’ll stare right into your eyes, and he’ll go ‘hello’ and you’re at his mercy. I can’t help it. That’s just the way he is.
