grid them

ivegotaheadlineforyou  asked:

Hi Hi! I've been interested in secular witchcraft for a long time, but i'm finally starting to stop just researching, and I want to try and start practicing! I've collected a bunch of resources, but what are some of the first things you'd suggest picking up from the store? Candles, herbs, oils, etc? Also, any beginner posts you could link me to would be wonderful. I'm all ears! Have a wonderful day <3

Hey, congrats on deciding to practice and doing your research! Are you excited? Nervous? Enjoying what you’ve seen so far? Is Tumblr your primary resource? :)

I wanna learn so much from new witches omg. (There’s irony in there.)

Well, it honestly depends on what you wanna do and use yourself. Because personally, I picked up a few of each - I got some tealights from WalMart, bought some cheap incense from somewhere else, picked up some dried herbs from the grocery store that I didn’t already have in the kitchen, and found like five or six crystals I liked from Green Earth. I spent maybe like twenty bucks. That was my beginner’s witch kit.

But, again, it all comes down to what you want to use. Are you more interested in working with candles in magic? Candle magic *is* a really easy but effective method of magic, and candles are everywhere, and really cheap. Most spells use candles in them, not necessarily as the focal point of the spell, but they also do wonders for boosting energies. A bag of 100 tea lights goes a long way in witchcraft. Color correspondences can help, but isn’t necessarily required.

Or maybe crystals are where you wanna go. Crystals have amazing energy, but are a bit more on the pricey side. It can also be hard for people who don’t know a lot about them to tell them apart - the “danger” in this is being swindled by people claiming their crystals are something they’re not. Doesn’t mean they won’t work for their “declared” intent, necessarily, but it means you just dropped a lot of money on something worth a tenth of that.

That doesn’t mean it isn’t worthwhile to work with them, though. Because they’re an amazing tool, really - you just gotta do some more research, and be confident in where you’re buying from. Finding a reliable dealer with decent prices is where it’s at. But then, once you’ve got some crystals, they’re really versatile. They can be used on their own, or in conjunction with other spells, put them in jars and sachets, or in poppets, make grids, use them to charge other things, just stick like ten of them in your pockets - boom, witchcraft.

Oils aren’t something I necessarily recommend, to be honest. Not because they aren’t useful, because they are, just like any other tool can be (just gotta know how to use them). I just don’t know a lot about essential oils. xD If that is the area you wanna go in, however, it’s worthwhile to know that you’re gonna want to do some more research on the topic, and be wary of any allergies you may have, and for the love of god don’t put a crapton of pure oil straight on your skin.

Herbs is a little bit of a tricky area too, especially when using them as medicine. It requires a lot of research and safety if you plan on ingesting herbs for actual remedial purposes. If you just want to use dried herbs in, like, jars and spell bags, it isn’t nearly as bad, but you still want to keep an eye out for any poisonous / toxic plants and allergies. The stuff you can get pre-dried from grocery stores and dollar stores are honestly enough in most cases, and there’s lots of substitutes for more expensive or exotic plants, depending on intent.

If you wanna grow your own herbs too, that’s an option, but another area I don’t know a lot about, so I can’t give you any more advice on that besides do some more research. (It seriously never ends, so I hope you like studying.)

I guess this sort of answers your questions, but not really in the way you wanted. So, long story short, what you pick up depends on what and how you want to practice. However, I’ll give you a list of items I would recommend, purely based on my own craft, but I feel they’re pretty good staples to have all around.

  • candles - versatile as all hell; can be used on their own or in any other spell; bags of white tea lights are super cheap and easy to find; worry about colors later; scents can be used as correspondences as well but don’t hinder in any way
    • also, if you can’t have open flames for whatever reason, they have LED / battery powered candles in some dollar stores now; not to mention, tech magic?!
  • matches - they smell nice, and can light candles; suuuper cheap, but in bulk; unless you’re allergic to sulphur, then just a lighter will work
  • herbs - dried herbs from the grocery store seriously do the trick just as well as fresh / organic stuff; Bulk Barn / Barrel has a lot of awesome stuff for super cheap too; start off with just a few general / all-purpose ones, and then add to your collection as you go along; it starts to build up over time, trust me
    • sea salt - cleansing and protection; can be used as a base for most herbal mixtures
    • rosemary - considered a substitute for most other herbs
    • basil - has like a shit ton of correspondences
    • cinnamon is useful to have too
    • if you wanna curse, pepper flakes, paprika, or cayanne pepper should do the trick
  • jars - do I even need to explain?; dollar store, man; even thrift stores have some pretty amazing and cool looking bottles and stuff
  • notebooks - not something necessarily overly witchy, but more so to write down what you learn; trust me, you’ll wanna do that, especially with correspondences; also, sigils
    • also, though, keeping a blog can be a great way to have a magical book; can be password detected / kept secret; tags are useful for organiazation; and then you have us assholes in the community to hang out with too xD
    • writing utensils are also kinda required to, you know, write in books; black Sharpies are useful for actually drawing on stuff - candles, sachets, etc.; good for sigil work
  • scrap fabric - but some cool patterns from thrift stores or whatever; useful for making sachets and poppets
    • sealable plastic bags can do in a pinch though, really; also can be drawn on with Sharpie for easy sigil application
  • string / thread - tie up bags, herb bundles; make sachets and poppets; also useful for bindings, and that’s a good skill to know
  • mini sewing kit - super useful to have in general, and all parts of it can be used for something, somewhere
  • tea bags - seriously, tea has magical properties too; super discreet; and easy as hell; play around with different flavors for intents
  • crystals - clear quartz is super cheap and all-purpose; buy like five of them and just use them over and over; again, another thing it might be useful to have like three or four basic ones and then build your collection over time; that’s how most of us get our arsenal of supplies
    • clear quartz - substitutes for any other crystal
    • amethyst - super cheap and easy to find; variant of quartz; good for sleep and peace and divination; also purple
    • tiger’s eye - I’m biased because this is my favorite crystal; good for protection and courage; did I mention it’s awesome to look at?
  • incense - not necessarily required, but I like to have it; smells nice, useful; so many scents; can be found pretty cheap all over too
    • again, if you can’t have open flames in your place, you can try those wax melters; definitely pricier, but versatile for magic as well; and I mean, they just smell, so, good; my mom has one with like sugar cookie wax cubes; and I come home and think she’s baking, and I get super excited; but it’s a lie

So, yeah, that’s my list, and reasons for what I wrote. That’s just some ideas to get you started. If you choose a path that doesn’t need those things in them, obviously don’t bother then. And depending on what “type of magic” you wanna do, your basic supply list might be very different. For instance, a sea witch probably won’t care so much about kitchen herbs, and stock up on sand and seaweed, sea shells and salt water.

Since you asked for beginner’s posts, too, you can have my whole list:

I did it! I made a post that wasn’t mostly links! :o Anyway, sorry for my smartass mouth, I was having fun with this. I hope you enjoyed reading, and I hope it gave you some ideas, and helped you out! Good luck! And if you need any more clarification or have more questions, you know where to find me. :D

Almost Paradise

Summary: Hanella in Bora Bora.

It’s not often that he has the opportunity to watch her sleep.  Even when it comes along, it’s fleeting, like she can sense his eyes on her and she always wakes before he’s had a chance to get his fill.  Maybe it’s something about the ocean air or the sound of the tide or the warmth of the sun that keeps her in slumber long enough for him to study her.

She hasn’t done anything to her hair in the whole eight days they’ve been in Bora Bora.  It takes on a natural wave he’s never seen before, fluffy and frizzy in a way that’s both alarming and endearing.  She hasn’t worn any make-up either, resulting in a startling explosion of freckles across her nose and cheeks and forehead.  She’s sun-kissed red everywhere in between, radiant and glowing.

In her sleep, she takes a deep breath and nuzzles his chest just a little.  He shifts one leg over the side of the hammock they’re lying in and gives a gentle push so that it sways from side to side.  He skims his hand up and over her arm to cup her shoulder.  He would like for her to stay asleep; to just stay tucked against him with her bare breasts pressed to his chest and side, her leg bent over his thighs while the purple sarong that’s wrapped around her hips exposes enough of the left cheek of her ass to be enticing, yet still mysterious.  He knows she’s wearing a royal blue pair of bikini bottoms, but right now all he can see is skin.

The urge to touch her is strong, but he resists.  Any other time he wouldn’t hesitate to reach down and brush the sarong aside so he could dip his hand inside her swimsuit and coax her awake with determined fingers.  He knows, though, that this is their last day here and every bit of peace and relaxation she can get she should have.  He’s not going to be the one to disturb her.  Besides, they’ve had more than enough sex in the last week to possibly break records.  Certainly more than the honeymooners in the next closest villa who’ve spent more time snorkeling in the lagoon or walking on the beach than Hank would consider normal for honeymooners.

Bora Bora wasn’t really his first choice for a vacation, but it was important to him to find somewhere that was off the grid.  Somewhere neither of them would be tempted to work.  Somewhere they didn’t know anyone.  Somewhere private and safe and nothing like their everyday life.  She needed an escape and he wanted to find one for her.

Hive Mind Rangers:

  • The Rangers are partly a hive mind now, the Morphing Grid combines them. It was meant to be instant when the coins chose them, like with Zordon and his team, but because of the abstract and tremulous nature of Human brains it wasn’t: their brains rejected the Grid. They had to get to know each other and accept the Morphing Grid’s influence, and that’s why they suddenly can all move in sync after they Morph.
  • It’s incredibly useful and vital for fighting and piloting the MegaZord, but not in real life, because they even move in sync outside the suits: they subconsciously move as a collective, sometimes it subtle, sometimes it really isn’t.
  • Once during a particularly animated chat one lunch time, all of them laughing and happy and just enjoying their clique, Billy spontaneously did his usual tick of four quick claps, only the other four did it too in freakish synchronization, and it caught the attention of the. entire. cafeteria.
  • Trini started clicking her pen out of boredom in detention and none of them noticed they were doing it too until- OH MY GOD WILL THE FIVE OF YOU STOP CLICKING YOUR PENS- again it was freakishly synchronized, especially since none of them were looking at each other. Literally all of them were looking at their desks the entire time.
  • Kimberly has a habit of hooking her hair behind her ear and regardless of the fact only one of her four fellow Rangers have enough hair to warrant the action, they all do it too. Zack, Billy and Jason look… odd to say the least.
  • Zack clicks his knuckles. The others hate it and they hate it even more when they find they’ve picked up his habit.
  • The teacher in detention end up exploding at someone else in the class for bad behaviour, and Jason gave this low whistle of ‘oop awkward’ which would have be ignored had the other four not also done it and turned the man’s wrath on them instead.
  • Kimberly’s ex-squad said it was “so cute how you’ve trained your own little loser squad” and all five of them flipped her off at the same time.
  • Luckily it’s only when they’re within a certain proximity of each other and only applies to whichever Rangers are together. So if it’s only Trini and Kim, only those two will move in sync, while elsewhere Billy, Jason and Zack hanging out move in sync with just the three of them.
  • Their synchronized movements is reason no. 4396835986 why Zack’s mother, Jia, knows they’re the Power Rangers.
  • As the Red Ranger, Jason subconsciously knows what each member of his team is feeling about something. So if there’s a decision that needs to be made he just… knows, he doesn’t know how or is even completely aware that he knows, if someone isn’t happy and if a true consensus has been made.

[ Bonus crack headcanon that isn’t serious but still hilarious:

Zordon was being literal when he said Jason spoke for the whole team. He’s not just leader but he’s a mouthpiece and if one of his team has something really burning on the tip of their tongue he sometimes says it in their stead.

Kimberly’s parents arguing about Kim and how they disapprove of her new friends.

“Assholes!… what the fuck Trini!? Sorry, Mr and Mrs. Hart… only I’m not sorry you dicks- Zack!”  ]

anonymous asked:

can you explain crystal grids to a newbie?

I don’t use crystal grids much myself, but I’ll try.

It seems like crystal grids are just  crystals being arranged in a certain way / pattern to bring about a certain effect. I am not sure what patterns do what, or if there is a certain technique or a system to the arranging, or if each magic user determines for themselves what will help the energy of the crystals flow most effectively towards the intent.

I have some resources for crystal grids, that I hope can give you more of an explanation than that.

Please note: not all of the resources provided have been read thoroughly by the poster; take any information within these articles with a grain of salt, and use what you find at your own discretion.

If anyone actually works with crystal grids, can you please chime in and maybe offer some advice or opinions or more resources? Thank you!

A Flirt

For the Anon who requested “a crossover of Criminal Minds and NCIS where the reader is married to Morgan and while meeting Gibbs’ team for the case Tony flirts with Reader and Morgan yells at Tony and started to being protective of reader around tony”

You sat at your desk file open in front of you, fingers flying as you entered data points into a grid before transferring them to an online map. Reid usually handled the whole profile ‘map’ thing, but since he was in Vegas seeing his mother, and since you were still in Quantico on a home case you figured you’d give it a shot.

“I am the man!” You whooped, spinning around in your chair, with the intention of announcing your victory to your husband, Emily, and any other team members passing through. Instead you were met with several people you’d never seen before, all wearing visitor badges.

Your hands dropped from their victory stance and your mouth opened slightly as you cheeks flushed. You quickly stood from your seat, coming around the desk, trying to regain an air of professionalism.

“I, uh, Agent (Y/N) Morgan” You offered, looking the group over, “Can I help you with something?” You asked voice going up slightly in the end. No one told you that people were coming in for questioning.

“Why yes you are, and yes you can.” One of the men offered, giving you a charming grin. You raised an eyebrow him momentarily noting the the handsome face and at ease demeanor. A player for sure.

“I am.” You nodded, “And I will. But first I need to know who you are.” You replied easily, earning a smirk from the rest of the group. The man closest to you (not the flirt) was obviously the oldest, he nodded his head at you, producing a badge, holding it up for you to inspect.

“We’re NCIS. I spoke to your director earlier, about the Mulaney case.” You nodded, mouth going into a small ‘o’ as you glanced in the direction of Hotch’s office.

“Well, apparently I am the last to know, however, the man you’re probably looking for Agent…”

“Agent Gibbs, that’s his office there.” You pointed towards Hotch’s closed door and smiled, tucking a piece of hair behind your ear. You expected Gibbs and his entire team to head in the direction you pointed them, and was slightly surprised when the other three people held back, looking around your office curiously.

“I didn’t know they let beautiful woman like you work for the FBI.” The flirty one grinned, leaning casually on the desk you’d previously been sitting at.

“They do when they’re as smart as she is,” Someone said from behind you and you rolled your eyes, feeling lips connect with your cheek, “Got you coffee, and a sandwich, baby girl. I don’t see us getting much down time so eat now.” You chuckled at the cheek kiss. Derek was not usually affectionate at work, but god he couldn’t miss an opportunity to stake his claim. “Hello, I’m Agent Derek /Morgan/.” He practically growled. offering his hand to the flirty man, causing his two teammates to grin and snicker.

“Agent DiNozzo..” He mumbled taking the hand, and you watched as Derek, you sweet loving and ever caring husband asserted his dominance over some poor man who never had a chance.

“Now if you’re done eyeing my wife, we’ll be holding a briefing in the conference room.”

Turns out the NCIS team was going to be joining you on this case, and for most of the week it went as thus. DiNozzo purposely ignoring you. You purposely being extra friendly and attentive with DiNozzo, because you thought it was funny.  And Derek practically breathing down the poor man’s neck.

“I want (Y/N) and DiNozzo to go back and recheck all of the alibis, dig a little deeper, see if anything overlaps.” Hotch announced tossing an SUV key at you, which you caught with ease (thank you softball.)

“Hotch.” Derek grumbled, “I think it would be better if I went, let DiNozzo here take Reid to the morgue.”

“Yes.” Tony nodded, and you smirked, rolling your eyes. You put a hand on Derek’s arm, squeezing briefly, shaking your head.

“I’m fine, Hotch, we’re fine. Right DiNozzo?” You asked, and he again nodded his head.

“Yes, of course.”

“Right Morgan?” You asked, turning around and giving a smirk to your big old overprotective husband. He didn’t answer for a moment and you raised your eyebrow, challenging him to say no and admit he was being jealous.

“Of course, dear.” You laughed.

“Good.” You grinned, turning and starting towards the cars, “Come on DiNozzo.” With one more slightly worried look in Derek’s direction Tony took off at a jog after you, eyes focused completely above your head of course. Nowhere else. Never.

                         Fluffy Blankets and Pillows V2

I had done these a while back and posted them, but the pictures got messed up and one was missing. Plus, they had grid lines on them and it was horrible, so I decided to redo it!

This is more recolors of my Fluffy blanket and pillow set.    The pictures still aren’t that great, but they are better.  These have been extensively played in game, but still things happen. Let me know if there are any issues.

The Frayed Ends Of Sanity

When SES Cruz walked into the offices of the BAU with two other Agents, the team knew something was wrong. Cruz gathered the team in Prentiss'office, a solemn look on his face.

“These are Agents Davidson and Killane from internal affairs. They’re here to interview you all separately. I need you to be honest with them, and not let your personal relationships cloud you.”

“Mateo,” Jennifer look over at her superior. Only she could get away with using his first name in front of other Agents. “What’s happened?”

“Dr Reid has been absent from work these last five days I understand?” he replied, glancing around the room and taking in the expressions of his team. JJ and Alvez nodded whilst the others began to look even more concerned than they already were.

“His - his mom was sick. She’s been staying with him for the past six months and he needed to take a few days out,” Jennifer’s heart had sank into the pit of her stomach the moment Spencer’s name had been mentioned. She’d spoken to him only four days ago, checking in with him that everything was okay. Since then, she’d not made the time to contact him, something she now felt incredibly guilty about.

“Diana Reid was found dead in Dr Reid’s apartment this morning. The ME will be examining the body shortly and CSI are on scene currently.”

Collectively the teams shoulders all slumped, the men in the team shaking their heads sadly whilst Penelope covered her mouth to stifle a sob. JJ tried to speak but found that she couldn’t, her mind instantly concentrating on one thing, that she needed to see Spencer.

Emily was more composed, having taken in the information that in their sudden sadness, the rest of her team had missed.

“Why are CSI on the scene? Why is it a scene, Cruz? And where is Spencer?”

Agent Davidson stepped forward, speaking for the first time since their arrival.

“This is exactly what we’d like to know Agent Prentiss.”

Over the next few hours as the team were interviewed one by one they learnt that Spencer had been missing for four days. The last contact he’d had was with JJ and when the call had been traced, it had put Spencer just outside of New York City. Since that last call, his phone had been switched off and Spencer had seemingly disappeared off the grid.

Had any of them suspected that anything was wrong with Spencer’s mental state, they’d all been asked.

Did any of them have any concerns about his relationship with his mother?

Did they know why he would be in New York city?

Did they believe that Spencer was capable of murder?

Over the next 48 hours, they were called back one by one for further questioning.

Did they know about Spencer’s trips to Mexico?

Did they know what he had been doing there?

Did they have any idea what the large withdrawals from his bank account that he’d been making over the last two years were for?

Did they believe that Spencer was capable of murder?

When the BAU finally managed to find out some information as to why they were being questioned like this, what they learnt was unbelievable to them.

In Spencer’s apartment CSI had recovered a broken syringe which when tested revealed a mixture of potassium chloride, pentobarbital and pancuronium bromide, the three drugs used in a lethal injection. A chemical spill on the carpet by his bed also revealed this drug mixure. In an unlocked safe in his wardrobe, they found bottles of a currently not FDA approved drug that was being tested in use with dementia and alzheimers patients. A drug that Spencer would not have been able to obtain legally. In his desk drawer, notebooks charting his mother’s progress, or rather lack of since she’d been ingesting this drug.

The ME had found traces of Spencer’s skin underneath Diana’s fingernails. Bruising around her mouth, as well as petechiae on the conjunctiva and the discovery of fibres the matched the material of the pillows on the bed led the ME to rule that death was asphyxiation, bringing the conclusion that she was smothered.

The final nail in the coffin was a discovery on Spencer’s laptop. A video made two years ago in which a seemingly lucid Diana Reid proclaimed that if her condition worsened to the point where she could no longer recognise her son or herself, that she wished to be euthanised. The time stamp on the video show that it had been replayed the date Spencer had called in sick to work.

All of these things had only one logical conclusion: that Spencer had killed his mother.

Sigil 201: Advanced Design

Hello all! This is a continuation of my tutorial from yesterday, expanding on sigil design to showcase some more advanced techniques you can try. If you haven’t yet checked out Sigil 101, I recommend you take a look.

When thinking about sigil design, it’s important to remember what exactly a sigil is- it’s a representation of a desire, intention, or goal. And these goals could be absolutely anything in the world. Our desires can be so different- so why should our sigils be the same every time? Today, I’ll be going over some various methods of specialty sigils that fit certain causes.

Weather Model Sigils

Ever seen one of these? This is called a station model, and it’s used by meteorologists to show the different types of weather occurring all together at one station, usually to analyze patterns. They show everything from temperature and pressure to precipitation, cloud types, and fronts. Naturally, these can be very useful for weather witches hoping to summon a certain condition. Hoping to go for a picnic? Try making a sigil summoning the sunshine, high pressure, and low winds.

There are so many symbols that can be incorporated into a traditional letter-based sigil, or a design all on their own.

Numeric & Keyboard Sigils

You know that swipe function on your smartphone, where you swipe between letters to type out words? These work similar to that. There are many ways you can approach a numeric sigil: you can assign every letter a number based on something like a table, or the layout on a phone. Then, you put the numbers on a grid and connect them based on their numeric order, or the order they were in a word. These are good for sigils based on one big idea. Here’s an example: imagine I wanted a sigil for organization. My process may look like this:

Once you’ve done the basic connection, you can add any type of flourishes you want. There’s a very similar process used for keyboard sigils, it’s just a bit simpler: just connect the letters based on the QWERTY keyboard.

These are extraordinarily useful for tech-based witchery. Have a sigil based on a person? Base it on the pattern of typing out their phone number. Take a screenshot of your phone keyboard and draw all over it in a sketchbook app.

Sigils without Pen & Paper

Some of the greatest appeal of sigils is that they’re a form of magick that is both extremely powerful and extremely accessible. You don’t need a ton of herbs, crystals, candles, essential oils… just some scratch paper and a pencil. Or, not even that. When making sigils, the possibilities are endless. Draw a glamour sigil with your finger in the fog of the bathroom mirror. Doodle in the sand and let the ocean wash it away. Carve one with a toothpick into your cake before putting it the oven. When watering your plants, use an eyedropper to draw a sigil for their growth. Draw it in MS Paint and post it on Tumblr to let the reblogs charge it.

Sigils are magick that can be worked anywhere, anytime, using almost anything- it all depends on your craft. So dream big, and let the magick into every part of your life.

i counted all th quartz i dug up from the old nevada dirt my step mom gave me from her rock hunting trip a long time ago n now i have 194 pieces of quartz and i don’t know what to do with it like i can’t give it away or she’ll yell at me but idk what else to do
