After an eventful drive to Wendover the night before, we awoke around 9 a.m. We called Chad Newman and setup a time to meet for breakfast. The Salt Flats cafe has to be my favorite spot for breakfast in Wendover with its Mexican style breakfast. The menu is short and simple and the total bill is a rounded number that the hostess decides upon. The Cafe is wallpapered with photos from years of racing on the salt flats, memories can be read on the walls from Drivers and Support Crews.
Before heading to the Salt, we sprayed our vehicles down with a solvent to make cleaning easier later, I thought Chad Newman was pulling a fast one on me, waiting for my car to turn green or something to the like. Not that there’s any ongoing practical jokes between us…
Looks like the Blue Team for Team Hot Wheels is busy practicing a new challenge today too (LINK BELOW TO VIDEO) - I wonder what is on the horizon for the entire Hot Wheels team? We have seen pics from Team Yellow and Team Green - but still don’t know what they are doing??? Hmmm…..Team Yellow and Team Green
It was finally race day for World Finals 2011 – Bonneville Salt Flats and we met up at for breakfast at the Salt Flats café at 6:30, ate and quickly headed for the Salt. The sky looked to be on fire as the sun arose above the line of the horizon and it is quite the sight to behold.
We arrived and parked of course, on the salt (everything is on the salt) and headed over to the drivers/riders meeting. It was amazing, as on most occasions over the past few days – the expanse of the salt dwarfed how many were there. Not today. There were hundreds of people gathered in the bitter, chilly, damp morning air talking about rules and safety. How to get to the runoff roads and how to navigate the vast “white” before us.
Guest Post: Getting Looped at the X Games by Kristin Berkery
One of the best parts about being a blogger is connecting with other bloggers. I was pleased to recently become acquainted with Kristin Berkery. She’s a writer and marketing designer in Sacramento, California, who blogs at www.ilovehorses.net. Kristin is a passionate rallycross fan and ardent supporter of Tanner Foust. She not only loves the sport but regularly keeps fans and followers in the know on Google+. I was very excited when she accepted my request to guest blog on her recent experiences at X Games 18 in Los Angeles, California with her family. You can also follow her on Twitter @ilovehorsesnet. I certainly hope that you enjoy her first guest post as much as I did. Cheers!

In September 2007, My Life at Speed was born. It started out as a blog for award-winning Hollywood stunt driver Greg Tracy, who is also a six-time Pikes Peak International Hill Climb winner in the motorcycle division. He’s currently be best known for his work with Hot Wheels’ Team Green, including the death-defying Double Loop Dare stunt that thrilled crowds at the 2012 X-Games 18 and millions globally via the internet. The site has since grown to include a team of contributors and ace photographers who cover motorsports, as well as auto/moto-related events in the US and beyond. As of December 2012, I’ve joined their team as an editorial contributor. Quite frankly I didn’t say it here first because I was waiting for somebody to pinch me. There is a fairly unbelievable story behind of how this opportunity came my way. However, I’ll spare you the details at the risk of sounding boastful. As a matter of fact, I’m extremely grateful because of the rare chance to develop friendships with people I’ve admired for a long time. This was surely the Grace of God and I give Him all the glory. You can find my posts here: http://mylifeatspeed.com/archives/category/mlas-contributors/marsha-haneiph/. You could also click over there and be treated to the work of fine folks like Greg Tracy (naturally), Chris Nazarenus (ML@S COO), Andy DeVol, Eric Gearheart and Kenneth Stouffer among others.
On June 30 2012, drivers in a Hot Wheels double loop at X Games Los Angeles 2012 will attempt to break a world record for racing two vehicles through a six-story double vertical loop. Two drivers will accelerate to 52 mph, enter a 66-foot tall loop and hit seven times normal gravity as they drive through the loop.
X Games RallyCross competitor and two-time Formula Drift champion Tanner Foust will comprise Team Yellow, and Hollywood stunt driver Greg Tracy will be Team Green.
This is the first time this event has been featured at X Games, and the partnership between Hot Wheels and ESPN is also new.
We wonder if Hot Wheels are aware of this attempt in South Africa recently by the Top Gear team which is in the similar remit of what they have planned.
This is the new Ducati Superbike that will be coming soon. I am really looking forward to hitting the track in 2012. Now that Pikes Peak will be paved all the way to the top, it is time to hit the road courses. This Ducati exemplifies My Life at Speed. What do you all think of this new Ducati 1199 Panigale?? GT
