green smoothies

Finally I found some time to draw my favourites for October.

1. Autumn is the time for hot tea (with orange, cinnamon, cloves and raspberry juice om nom nom), homemade apple pie and pumpkin soup and we can sleep most of the day, because it’s still dark outside.

2. Very healthy green smoothies with kale or spinach (if you drink it in the morning you can eat chips and pizza for the rest of the day).

3. Great and unusual series - The Young Pope.

4. And another great series (probably more popular) - Westworld.

Green Smoothies Guide!

A great guide to make green smoothies is to remember the rule of 40% Greens and 60% Fruit.

1 cup of Water, Coconut water or Almond Milk

1 Cup of Greens: Kale, Spinach, or Spring Mix

2 Cups of Fruit: Apples, Blueberries, Mango, Peaches, Pineapple, or Strawberries. (I always recommend Frozen fruit for a better smoothie texture.)

You can always add 1 scoop of Protein if you need it. I like to add Matcha powder for a great energy boost!

Sip Your Way to Clearer Skin With This Breakout-Fighting Smoothie

This creamy smoothie recipe is made from Vitamin E-rich spinach and avocado and sweetened with grapes that contain anti-inflammatory antioxidants. You’ll love the taste of the strawberries that also help fight free-radical damage, giving skin a more radiant glow. Almond butter offers the minerals zinc and selenium, both essential for healthy skin, and a sprinkle of flaxmeal contains omega-3s that help reduce inflammation.

2 cups raw spinach
¼ avocado
½ cup red grapes (fresh or frozen)
½ cup frozen strawberries
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 teaspoon flaxmeal
1 cup water

Place all ingredients in a blender, and mix well.
Enjoy immediately.

Peach Banana Green Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients: 1 cup frozen peach slices, 1 frozen banana, 2 cups loosely packed spinach, and ½ cup water.

Method: Thaw the frozen fruit in cold water until it’s all just a little mushy. Cut the banana up into smaller pieces so it’ll blend more easily. Put all of the ingredients into a blender, blend to your desired consistency, top with chia seeds, then enjoy!

Besides containing antioxidants, green tea also has theanine, an amino acid that helps you focus and relax at the same time, says Dr. Amen. The honey contains all 22 essential amino acids, which provide the building blocks of protein for brain cells.

  • 1½ cups frozen blueberries
  • ½ medium banana
  • ¾ cup calcium-fortified light vanilla soy milk

  1. MICROWAVE water on high until steaming hot.
  2. ADD tea bag and let step for 3 minutes. Remove tea bag.
  3. STIR honey into tea until dissolved.
  4. BLEND all ingredients (including the tea) on the highest setting until smooth.

In case you were in need of more green smoothie recipes, here’s this week’s green smoothie spotlight! The PB2 experiment in the apples and peanut butter was an awesome success and had the added bonus of more protein (it’s also a great way to use PB2 if you’re thinking of testing it out) and the triple berry was really more of a dessert than a breakfast haha but that’s what green smoothies are for, right? Of all of them though, the winner this week (although peaches and cream was a close second) had to be the morning wake up call. I was having a tough morning so I just threw everything I love into a smoothie and it completely turned my day around, I hope it can do that for you too! With the lemon, cut off the knobby end (about 1 inch in) then cut the thinnest slice you can, rind and all).
