Tea Facts

Black tea

Think black tea makes you feel good? You’re right. It’s been proven to help you de-stress fast. It also helps eliminate bad breath. Plus medical research indicates that it lowers the risk of heart attacks and strokes, and reduces bad cholesterol.

Green tea

Want to stay slim, trim and beautiful? The antioxidants in green tea just might slow signs of aging, prevent the flu and raise your metabolism. More dramatically, it’s being shown to prevent and slow cancer, and help with arthritis and bad cholesterol too.

Oolong tea

This one’s known as a fat-buster in China, and science is indicating that it does indeed speed up your metabolism, burn fat and block fat absorption! Use it to fight expanding waistlines, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.

White tea

Science is saying that white tea might be more effective than even green tea at preventing cell damage, shrinking cancerous tumours and stopping the growth of cancer cells. Plus it’s becoming the new cosmetic fix for aging skin. Beautiful!

Pu’erh tea

Traditional Chinese medicine prizes Pu’erh as a wonder tea. It’s said to aid digestion, cleanse the blood and help with weight loss. Studies in Europe are also saying it busts cholesterol as effectively as some medications.

Rooibos tea

It’s said that rooibos helps you recover from hangovers, and that it could slow dementia. Plus there’s evidence that it fights skin cancer and boosts the immune system. And it’s supposed to help with insomnia!

Yerba tea

Yerba mate is a fabulous stimulant, without the jitters. It’s also full of antioxidants, so there’s scientific speculation that it could have anti-cancer properties, help stimulate the immune system and protect against disease.

Herbal tea

Herbs, spices, fruits and flowers have long been used in traditional medicine to cure everything from headaches, stomach bugs and colds to stress and insomnia. The power of the tea depends on its ingredients.

Given its key role in 12x15, I thought it was about time to remake my green cooler appreciation gifset (shoutout to original requester @samspurpletoothbrush)

Green Day, more commonly known in the zones as Nuclear Family, consists of three different ‘joys:

Saint Jimmy: The leader of Nuclear Family, Jimmy may be the only one in the crew to own a raygun, but he much prefers his trusty switchblade. In his younger years, it was told from crew to crew to never do anything to displease him, lest he decides you’re not worth his time and stab you. Now he’s mellowed out, but the threat still stands; Jimmy’s a man of honor, and a vigilante to boot, and he won’t let anything stand in his way.

Love Slave: Born in the zones and the wild card in the Nuclear Family, Slave is more acoustic than the other two - no rayguns, blades or bombs for him, the only thing he needs is his barbed-wire lined baseball bat called The Grouch. He spends most of his time in Hyper Thrust, so much so that Jimmy and Jesus have to often come down and have “extraction missions” to bring him back to their base. Slave’s practical and a bit polka dotty, but he’s good to have in a clap.

Jesus of Suburbia: Jesus is said to have grown up with Saint Jimmy in the Outskirts, coming with him when they ran from the City. Jesus is Jimmy’s right-hand man, closer to him than even Love Slave. Whenever Jimmy opts to wield the switchblade over the raygun, Jesus uses it for him, fighting alongside his best friend. He often times wears the “drunk bunny” head in the place of his mask, but just as often it gets stuck (he’ll sit there for five, ten, twenty minutes before Jimmy and Slave realize he needs help, again). Outside of a fight, he’s clumsy and dorky, but don’t underestimate him - he’ll just as quickly beat you down, even faster than both Saint Jimmy and Love Slave.

Full Moon Attraction Spell Day 3: Worry Dolls

Listen we’re just going to skip day 2 because really all I did was drink @jennycalabro‘s self love rose soy milk tea and do various gushy tarot spreads. Day 3 was really fun though!

These are Worry Dolls (Muñeca quitapena) that my mother gave me:

They’re about the size of my thumb nail, made of string, twigs, and paper, and the way they work is simple: you tell them your worries, and place them under your pillow. They’re supposed to take away that worry or fear during the night, so you can sleep soundly. They’re mostly for children, but I’m using them a bit differently here. Almost as poppets!

Here’s what you do:

Take two of the worry dolls, one that represents you and one that represents a partner. It doesn’t have to be a specific person, but if you have someone in mind, even better! Hold them both in your hand and whisper to them any fears, worries, or insecurities you have about relationships, love, intimacy, trust, vulnerability, etc. Really think about what personal blocks are keeping you from feeling like you can find the right person and be happy with them, or keeping you from being with someone you have found. What scares you about love?

Then, tie the two worry dolls together like so:

Imagine that they are you and a partner, happy and free of those fears.

Next, place them inside a jar, baggy, cup or bowl like so (I used a jar because God I love jars) :

Then fill your container of choice, covering the worry dolls as much as possible, with:
- rose petals
- cinnamon
- brown sugar

Under these ingredients, the worry dolls lovingly work together to banish the fears and worries you told them about. When finished, it looked like this:

Hang or place the container next to your bed, and let them do their thing! :)
