Friday, Oct. 20, NASA astronauts Randy Bresnik and Joe Acaba ventured outside the International Space Station for a 6 hour and 49 minute spacewalk. Just like you make improvements to your home on Earth, astronauts living in space periodically go outside the space station to make updates on their orbiting home.
During this spacewalk, they did a lot! Here’s a recap of their day told in GIFs…
All spacewalks begin inside the space station. Astronauts Paolo Nespoli and Mark Vande Hei helped each spacewalker put on their suit, known as an Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU).
They then enter an airlock and regulate the pressure so that they can enter the vacuum of space safely. If they did not regulate the pressure safely, the astronauts could experience something referred to as “the bends” – similar to scuba divers.
Once the two astronauts exited the airlock and were outside the space station, they went to their respective work stations.
Bresnik replaced a failed fuse on the end of the Dextre robotic arm extension, which helps capture visiting vehicles.
During that time, Acaba set up a portable foot restraint to help him get in the right position to install a new camera.
While he was getting set up, he realized that there was unexpected wearing on one of his safety tethers. Astronauts have multiple safety mechanisms for spacewalking, including a “jet pack” on their spacesuit. That way, in the unlikely instance they become untethered from the station, the are able to propel back to safety.
Bresnik was a great teammate and brought Acaba a spare safety tether to use.
Once Acaba secured himself in the foot restraint that was attached to the end of the station’s robotic arm, he was maneuvered into place to install a new HD camera. Who was moving the arm? Astronauts inside the station were carefully moving it into place!
And, ta da! Below you can see one of the first views from the new enhanced HD camera…(sorry, not a GIF).
After Acaba installed the new HD camera, he repaired the camera system on the end of the robotic arm’s hand. This ensures that the hand can see the vehicles that it’s capturing.
Bresnik, completed all of his planned tasks and moved on to a few “get ahead” tasks. He first started removing extra thermal insulation straps around some spare pumps. This will allow easier access to these spare parts if and when they’re needed in the future.
He then worked to install a new handle on the outside of space station. That’s a space drill in the above GIF.
After Acaba finished working on the robotic arm’s camera, he began greasing bearings on the new latching end effector (the arm’s “hand”), which was just installed on Oct. 5.
The duo completed all planned spacewalk tasks, cleaned up their work stations and headed back to the station’s airlock.
Once safely inside the airlock and pressure was restored to the proper levels, the duo was greeted by the crew onboard.
They took images of their spacesuits to document any possible tears, rips or stains, and took them off.
Subban on his teammates giving him a solo lap of the ice before warmups started: “I wasn’t expecting that, but right before we went out, the guys had their sticks up like creating a gauntlet down the hallway - then they got the PK chant going and I had to fly right out! I think the last time I did that was either my first game as rookie or something like that. I got to be honest with you, I’ve got a great bunch of teammates … the way they handled everything the past couple of days … it’s a good group of men in there.”
Jack was an easy baby. He rarely ever cried, and when he did it was usually because he was over-tired and cranky. His favourite pastime seemed to be quietly staring up at his parents with those big blue eyes of his, cracking smiles and breaking into an occasional fit of giggles.
He was a bubbly kid, always full of energy and always ready to join his dad out on their backyard rink. More often than not Alicia had to bargain with him to get him off the rink and back inside in time for dinner. He could get a little moody about it but thankfully never for too long.
Jack used to cheer and clap loudly whenever Bob was on television. He tried to watch every game and Alicia was usually very generous in letting him stay up past his bedtime. As the years went by, he grew quieter, watching his dad’s games with an intense, focused air about him and an ever-present frown, like he was always deep in thought.
It was the same expression he wore when he himself played, and at times Alicia was taken aback by how much it made him look like an adult despite his youth.
Then Jack went away to play in the major leagues, and Alicia was forced to realize that her relationship with her son had been long distance for a while already.
A part of her would always blame herself, would always think she should have seen it coming. She remembered that day with unsettling clarity and it was a memory she would carry to her grave. She remembered feeling crushed, like the worst failure, but most of all so, so frightened.
All of a sudden the future seemed bleak, and Jack’s expression mirrored that. She was grateful for the coaching job, if only because it gave Jack a reason to smile, even though it was taut and stiff around the edges.
She saw him off to Samwell hoping it wasn’t a mistake, that sending him far from home wouldn’t end in disaster again. But Jack was older then, older than his years. He still played like he had something to prove, but he knew his limits. He had spent the past two years learning himself all over again; Alicia hoped it would be enough.
It wasn’t until his last two years at Samwell that Jack truly grew into himself. He had a great team, who in turn taught him how to be a great teammate. Her baby was smiling again, and Alicia was thrilled.
And yet, half a year into his rookie season in the NHL, she finally saw a look she had for so long hoped to see on her son’s face. One she had almost given up on, thinking half-smiles and contentment could be enough. It was a sweet blond boy with a golden heart who proved her wrong, and for that she would be eternally grateful because she finally got to see Jack happy.
x-ray decides to quit the superhero business. vav searches to find a new partner to fight crime, but has some trouble: hilda and ash are too busy, rusty is too paranoid, and while mogar is a great teammate, they don’t always have the best communication skills (and mogar is often busy taking care of his mother)
one night, he witnesses a couple of bank robbers running off with the goods, and having fallen from grace, decides to catch them himself. chaos ensues (bc it’s vav and of course it does) and the two robbers almost get away, until a stranger knocks them both out, and disappears before vav can see anything more than a figure
vav starts a search for this stranger, and with mogar’s help, eventually finds a strange man, decked out in orange and purple and a cowboy hat. he introduces himself as rimmy tim.
rimmy tim proves to be a fearsome superhero in his own right, but teamed with vav and mogar, they’re unstoppable. he also happens to drive a monster truck, and gone are the days of having to take the bus all over the city.
they hear whisperings of a certain pirate businessman coming back, along with the ever-present threat of the mad king. and, probably completely unrelated, but ads for a man in the homebuilding business seem to be popping up all over the city.
warnings: you know me, i can’t write something without curse words in it
a/n: dad!auston is so cute, be prepared. also, i changed it up from the request but i hope it works anyway anon! if you truly want the exact request, i can probably write a second part with that in there!
you’d never imagined yourself as a parent. sure, you cooed over babies and played the role of loving aunt, but you had never truly pictured yourself with a baby that was half you, half someone else.
Annonymous said: maybe an auston matthews imagine where you somehow ended up being
apart of ‘the guys’ with them showing up at your house randomly to pick you up
to hangout and go to parties. and puckbunnies both are intimidated by you
because youre always around and rude to you because you arent the typical super
thin blonde, and get even more jealous of how close you are with auston in
particular and then things happen and you n auston finally get together
(surprise me with the how?) please and thank you :)
A/N: Hello everyone! Now I know everyone has been patiently waiting for Mason (Part 6), but I have other requests pending, and I find when I write other prompts or stories, it helps me write about other storylines I have going on as well. Creative juices, right?
This was reqested a while ago and I appologize for the wait! I hope it’s similar to your request, and I do believe this will be another multi-part imagine. Let me know what you think!
Characters: Auston Matthews (Feat. Connor Brown, Morgan Rielly, William Nylander, and Zach Hyman)
You dropped your bag on the floor, falling onto your bed with a yawn. Pulling your phone out of your pocket, you pulled up your text chain
(Y/N): Just made it home. I miss you already. <3
Andre: Sweet dreams. Love you.
You sighed, standing up to change into your pajamas, finally slipping
under the covers as exhaustion settled in. You had just spent the past week with Andre in DC and the
thought of not waking up next to him made your heart heavy. Waking up to that playful smile always made you feel at home; a sense of security enveloped you when you were curled up with him under the covers. Your bed in Chicago always felt
so big and cold the first few days after getting back from DC. Each trip back
to Chicago was getting harder and harder to make.
With your vacation time finally approved, you hurriedly pulled up a list of flights onto the screen in front of you; calling Andre to see which flight in would work best for his schedule. You had a
few more vacation days to use, excited to see Andre again after a long 7 weeks
of texts and Skype calls. His face popped up in the open tab, his lips curling
into a grin as he saw your face.
“Hey, babe. I have a few days off next week and I know you
have a string of home games and—“
“Come, whenever you can.” he smiled, all too familiar with
this conversation. He was always so thrilled whenever you could come to visit him, even if it was only for a few days. “Which ever flight gets you here soonest, I’ll
make sure I can come pick you up from the airport.” he said.
“Okay, I’ll let you know when I pick a flight.” you smiled,
scrolling through the list of flights and prices. “I saw your goal last night, can’t
wait to see you get some more in the playoffs.” you grinned, glancing at Andre as he ran a hand through his hair, causing it to stick up on end.
“Will you even be able to make it out here for any playoff
games?” he asked, his smile dropping as he waited for an answer.
“Probably not as many as I’d like to.” you frowned. “I’m
really busy with work and I’d never be able to have enough time off to get to
DC for all of them.” you said sadly, eyes flitting down the rows of flight times. “I’ll be watching them all from here, though.” you added,
hoping to make amends.
Andre sighed, lines creasing his forehead as he frowned at
your answer, his eyes staring at a wall offscreen.
“I could be out there next Wednesday; the earliest flight
would arrive in DC at 6:00am your time.” you said. “I’d have to fly out Sunday
morning at 6:00pm.”
“No.” Andre said, his snapping to face you.
“What? Okay… Do you want me to come out later? There’s a
flight that would come in at 10:00am your time. But that would probably
interfere with practice, right?”
“That’s not what I meant. I meant ‘no’ about the going home
on Sunday part.” he said, agitation etched across his face.
“Those are all the vacation days I have, Andre. If I want to
get out to DC to see you at all during the playoffs, I can’t afford to take any
more time off right now.”
“Buy a one way ticket.” he said firmly.
“Bring your stuff with you. Move in with me.” he urged, his
brown eyes full of sincerity.
“Andre I – my job, I –“
“Quit.” he said. “DC has jobs. Plenty of jobs you’d be more
than qualified for.” he said. “Hell, don’t get a job if you don’t want, too. I
just want you here. I want us to be together more than a few days here and
there. Move in with me.” he reiterated.
You stared at the computer screen, mouth agape. You had talked about moving in together eventually, but you hadn’t expected him to bring it up now.
He sighed, shaking his head at your surprised expression. “I
know this probably seems like something I just threw out there, but I’ve
actually been thinking about it a lot.” he explained. “I have my own place, I
know the city, I have great friends and teammates; I’ve been settled in for a
while now. I have everything in DC that I want… Except you.” he added softly.
“You’re serious?” you asked; your heart rising in your
throat, happy tears threatening to spill. “You really want me to move in with
“You really didn’t see this coming?” he questioned with a
slight smile. “I’ve been thinking about it for a long time, and ever since your
“It’s been harder than ever to be apart?” you suggested,
Andre nodded. “I know. I’ve felt the same way.”
“Then move in with me.” he said, leaning in closer the
camera, his face filling up the tab.
“Okay.” you breathed after a pause. “Let’s do this.”
“Okay.” he said, his grin returning. “I can’t wait to see
your face every morning. And our baby will be so happy that we’re finally
“Our baby?” you asked, confused. “I’m not preg—”
“I know, babe. Hold on a second.” he disappeared from the
screen, his curls popping back into frame a few minutes later. “Say hi to our
baby.” he said, lifting a tiny, black puppy into the frame.
“What? You got a puppy?” you questioned in disbelief.
“I’m sorry.” Andre said quickly. “I should have waited for you to pick one out, but the
people who put together the Canine Calendar reached out and it turned out this
little guy needed a home.” he said gazing down at the furry puppy nestled in his arms.
“It’s fine, Andre. He’s adorable.” you laughed. “I’m just surprised you were able to keep him a
secret. How long have you had him?”
“I picked him up three days ago. I couldn’t say no to this little face.” he
said, nuzzling the tiny dog. He looked up after a few moments, his eyes gazing into yours through the screen. “(Y/N), will you be the mother of my
“I absolutely will be, babe.” you answered excitedly.
“Say hi to your momma, buddy.” he said, lifting one of the
dog’s tiny paws, waving it at you.
“You know, when I get to DC I’ll probably be cuddling the
puppy more than you.”
Andre frowned. “I should be offended, but I honestly can’t
blame you.” he admitted with a shrug. “Let me know what you need me to do to
help you, babe. Just get things in order and come home to us.”
“Home?” you questioned.
“I mean, that’s what I want this to be for us.” he said,
concern covering his features. “If that’s what you want.” he added quickly.
“Of course, babe! Just hearing it… it makes me really happy,
I like the sound of that.” you said, your heart ready to burst when Andre’s
sweet smile returned. “I’ll be home as soon as I can.”
I love your writings!! And I also love that you have other authors
imagines/drabbles here as well! It’s helped me find other blogs to read
:). Can you do an imagine with Andre Burakovsky where you live in
Chicago and he wants you to move in with him in DC so he gets a puppy
and asks you to help raise it 😊🐶
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy my writing and that you’ve been able to find other blogs, too. I hope you enjoyed this one!
He (Fleury) has been our best player. He’s a great competitor, a great teammate, and he’s really risen to the challenge. I can’t say enough about Sid’s leadership. His play speaks for itself. -Coach Sullivan, post-game 4/29
Lance saying allura is the heart of voltron honestly made me ??? not because it’s not true because he literally explained that she is and she proved it ! I was just confused because for a Long time the writers and crew always said lance was the heart of voltron so i was just ?? did they change their minds ?? but now thinking more on it. i think him and allura are Both the heart of voltron. Lance sees how great and wonderful his teammates are. but because of his insecurities he doesn’t see that in himself. I think lance doesn’t realize how much he really does keep the team together. always motivating them and cheering them on. He might not believe it but he is a heart of voltron
“I grew up wearing Mercurial as a kid, so it’s like a dream to have my story on this boot,“ says Neymar Jr. “It means a lot that it’s not just about me, but my family and the moments I shared with great teammates on the pitch.”
This week, Neymar Jr. will debut his first signature edition Mercurial Vapor. The Neymar Jr. “Written In The Stars” Mercurial shares the story of the phenom actively fulfilling his destiny. Tabbed for greatness at a young age, Neymar Jr. embraced the pressure and set out to make his family and country proud.
“Growing up in Brasil, football is everything,” says Neymar Jr. “I am very proud of my country and I hope they are proud of me too.”
Brasil’s flag inspires the boot’s color palette (which is amplified to vibrant Blue Orbit and Volt) and is also reflected by a Southern Cross constellation graphic.
Two of Neymar’s many highlights with the Brasil national team are also acknowledged within the design. First, his debut goal as a member of the Brasil National Team, against the United States on August 10, 2010, when he was just 18 years old. And second, last summer’s triumph in the Olympics — acknowledged via reference to Maracana Stadium. Brasil’s five stars appear on the boot as well, just as they’re proudly displayed on the national team kits.
References to Neymar Jr.’s family also appear. 11.03.96 references the birthdate of his beloved little sister, Rafaella. 24.08.11 signifies the birthdate of Neymar Jr.’s son, David Lucca. Neymar Jr.’s birthdate, 02.05.92 is on the boot as well, as is his top speed, 34.7 KM/H. The dotted geographical figures on the boot mimic maps of Barcelona and Brasil, respectively.
Several of Neymar’s significant club goals are also commemorated on the boot, including his first goal against Real Madrid on October 26, 2013 and Neymar Jr.’s goal in the 2015 Champions League Final. Upon close inspection, one can see the “constellations” on the boot depict the path the ball took in the build-up to each of the goals referenced.
Additional goals that are personally meaningful to Neymar and are marked on this boot include his 100th career goal on his 20th birthday and his legendary goal against Villareal, on August 11, 2015. Neymar scored in the 85th minute of the game by flicking the ball over his opponent’s head and striking it into goal, amazing everyone in the crowd and across the world. That daring yet joyful style of play is further captured on the lace aglets of the boot, which read “Ousadia” and “Alegria” (“daring” and “joy” in the player’s native Portuguese).
Neymar Jr.’s “Written in the Stars” Mercurial Vapor launches July 28 at Nike Miami and is available July 29 on nike.com.
