Road workers and pedestrians fall silent and bare their heads in a mark of respect during the “Great Silence”; the two minutes silence held at 11.00am on the 11th November, 1919, a year on from the end of The Great War.
Greetings from São Tomé and Príncipe, a
peaceful island nation in Africa, right on the equator. Arrived here
today on assignment for a documentary about the equator. The Pico Cão
Grande (Portuguese for Great Dog Peak) is a landmark needle-shaped
volcanic plug in Obo National Park, rises dramatically about 370 m
(1,000 ft) over the terrain. @natgeocreative@natgeo#africa#saotome#road
