OKAY SO IVE BEEN THINKING A LOT ABOUT THE FUTURE OF YOI
I think by now everybody knows that the fandom is divided by “Victor is gonna leave Yuuri” and “Victor will stay with Yuuri”
AND AFTER A LOT OF THINKING ABOUT IT HERES WHAT I THINK OF THE FATE OF THESE BOYS
(I can’t upload screenshots as evidence bc I’m on mobile but I’m pretty sure y'all know what I’m talking about)
SO we already know the story of Eros, with the Maiden and the Playboy, and how the Playboy ends up leaving the Maiden at the end of the story.
We also know that the story of Eros that we were told of was Yuuri’s interpretation, and we DONT know what Eros means to Victor.
Whats important to remember is that the show has clearly revealed Yuuri’s anxiety and self-doubt issues and how they severely affect his lifestyle, thought process, and performance.
So with Yuuri clearly stating that he views himself more as the maiden of the story, means that the idea of Victor leaving him is most likely already in his head. And that would make sense, considering that his self doubt and anxiety could easily convince him that Victor doesn’t actually care about him and that hes coaching Yuuri for personal gain, and not for Yuuri’s sake, because Yuuri has that doubt telling him that hes not worth it.
SO HERE IS MY THEORY:
Victor was originally planning on leaving Yuuri after teaching him a couple of his own routines. Victor knew that Yuuri imitated his performance perfectly in the video, so he thought “Hey, I’ll teach him a couple routines and see what hes capable of.” When Victor taught Yuuri Eros, he expected Yuuri to just follow his style and moves, because thats the most he thought of Yuuri. I don’t believe that Victor initially thought that Yuuri was creative and original, but thats some stretched out speculation. In the performance, Victor was expecting Yuuri to perform Eros exactly like he taught him, but that is not what he got.
Lets not forget that Yuuri spent the whole night before the performance practicing a completely different style of Eros than what Victor was teaching Yuuri (WITHOUT Victor knowing about this, mind you), and that style was feminine. Yuuri changed his perspective of the story and portrayed himself as the maiden rather than the playboy, and realized that he sure as hell wasn’t dancing for katsudon, but for Victor.
And Victor sure as HELL noticed that. And Yuuri caught Victor hook, line, and goddamn sinker, because Victor realized that Yuuri has WAY more skill and potential then what he originally expected.
You know what would have happened if Yuuri didn’t change his style? Yurio absolutely would have won. Victor would realize that Yuuri wasn’t capable of stepping outside of Victor’s shadow, get bored, and just head back to Russia without even batting an eye.
But Yuuri caught him by surprise (ELEMENT OF SURPRISE PEOPLE- THATS WHAT VICTOR’S SUCCESS AS A SKATER WAS BASED OFF OF), and Victor was SOLD by that. It was in that moment that Victor knew that Yuuri was a worthy person to coach.
Does the anxiety of Victor leaving him remain? Oh hell yeah. But does Victor plan on leaving now? I don’t think so.
I think now we’re gonna start getting an insight to Victor’s character and I also believe we’re gonna start seeing a change in dynamic between the two.
TL;DR: Yuuri was afraid of Victor leaving him, but Victor is going to stay.
SO WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT VICTOR’S PERSONALITY AND CHARACTER, AND THE WRITERS TOTALLY MADE HIM ONE SIDED ON PURPOSE, BUT HERES AN IDEA:
Yurio was meant to find Agape, and Yuuri was meant to find Eros. And they both had their own stories/perspectives to those types of love.
What if Victor was trying to find both in one person? Heres how I think his story would go:
In the world walks a lonely man, desperately searching for the maiden that can fill in the hole in his heart that was missing, but the only thing that women ever see him and want him for, is sexual love, and never for unconditional love. The man pursues many maidens, but they never truly fill the other half of the gap in his heart, and so he gets bored, and leaves. One day, he finds a maiden and decides to pursue her. Expecting the same outcome, he was ready to get bored and just leave her, just like every other girl.
But he was very wrong. That maiden filled both halves to the gap in his heart, and that was when he realized he found true love.
And maybe thats why the writers haven’t shown Victor’s story yet. Why? because plot twist material!! :D
