“Your Bones”-Inspired Spell

this spell is to aid in shedding the parts of yourself that no longer serve you, letting go of facades, and showing your true self

Do this in a place where you can light things on fire safely.

  1. Play the song “Your Bones” by Of Monsters and Men.
  2. Write down a list of the parts of yourself that you want to shed (ex: dishonesty).
  3. Hold the rock. The rock represents your inner being/your true self/your bones.
  4. Put the list and the rock in a fire-safe container.
  5. Light a feather on fire.
  6. Put the feather in the fire-safe container.
  7. Let it burn.
  8. As it does, meditate on what it means to be your true self. (ex: ‘I release the lies and I am honest.’ Focus on the feeling of honesty.)
  9. When the fire’s gone out, douse everything with seawater to cool it down.
  10. Pour it out on the ground where it is safe to do so.
