Donald Glover is Lando Calrissian in the untitled 2018 Han Solo Star Wars stand-alone film
“Lucasfilm announced today that Donald Glover, an acclaimed actor, award-winning writer, and Grammy-nominated artist, will be playing the part of Lando Calrissian in the still-untitled Han Solo Star Wars film, helmed by directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Glover will join Alden Ehrenreich — previously cast as Han Solo — in bringing two iconic Star Wars characters back to the big screen, but at a time in their lives previously unexplored.
This new film depicts Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld — years before the events involving Han, Leia, and Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and his rise to Rebel hero in Return of the Jedi…”
Kelly Clarkson’s team decided to go with a version of “Piece by Piece” that she sang on American Idol, rather than the studio version (which made the Top 10). Her Idol version, you may remember, made judge Keith Urban tear up—which helped make the video go viral. “Piece by Piece (Idol Version)” is contending for noms for Record and Song of the Year.
1-There are 5 world champion on the grid. The same amount of album as Taylor has. Although the 6th may be upon us… The same goes for the amount of world champions on the grid, with Nico Rosberg the favourite to win the 2016 championship.
2-This isn’t the first time a member of Taylor’s squad has appeared at a Formula One race weekend. Gigi Hadid attended the 2015 Monaco Grand Prix as a guest of Lewis Hamilton.
3-F1 drivers can choose what number they are, with 1 reserved for the World Champion. 13 is no longer in use after Pastor Maldonado left last season.
22 is taken by 2009 Champion Jenson Button & there are 22 cars on the grid!
Sadly there is currently no 15 or 10 (Grammy wins) although her current age, 26 is a number used by Daniil Kvyat
4-There are 11 world championships between the 5 champions on the grid in 2016, the age at which Taylor went to Nashville
5-As of this date, Taylor has won 275 awards, only three drivers have achieved more race starts than this. Jenson Button has 301, the legendary Michael Schumacher started 306 whereas Rubens Barrichello started 322! (oh hey there is a 22 after all)
6-Taylor released her debut album at 16. However the youngest person to start a race is current driver Max Verstappen at 17.
7-Taylor’s worth is estimated upward of $240 million, however the average F1 team is worn $330 million!
8-Ok I lied, there is a 22. Mercedes F1 are one of the teams that have 22 people working in the pit crew. (Those that change the wheels during the pit stop) Mercedes employ 1300 people to work on both cars throughout the season!
9-Like Taylor, F1 goes all over the world. The season starts in Australia, they travel to Asia, visiting places like Malaysia, Japan and Singapore. They have many races in Europe with North America hosting the American and Canadian Grand Prix’s. Mexico and Brazil host two of the last few races, before the season ends in Abu Dhabi.
10-The most famous F1 team? Well that would be Ferrari, with a fanbase as passionate as Swifties, RED IS their colour. The Prancing Horse is regarded as perhaps the most prestigious Motorsport team in the whole world.
11: Taylor’s concert takes place on the Saturday. In Formula One, that’s the day of the final practice session of the weekend before Qualifying takes place to determine what position cars will start from on the Sunday. That Saturday? Well that would be 4 years since RED was released.
I forgot that most people haven’t actually seen Hamilton so they just got hit with a bunch of staging they didn’t know about. That must’ve been wild.
Especially how incredibly gay Lin and Anthony make…everything. And there’s still so much more that hasn’t been covered in the Grammys/Tonys/doco.
I’ve seen the show with Lin/Anthony, Javi/Anthony and Javi/Andrew.
Lin and Anthony are the most intense and the gayest BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS.
selenaqofficial:We are happy to announce that today, selenaqofficial was inducted into the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame at the Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. Suzette Quintanilla was present to receive this prestigious recognition in her sister’s honor by Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott. “The impossible, is always possible…” More than just her favorite quote, those four words capture the meteoric rise of a young latina who defined expectations. A Grammy Award-winning recording artist, her contributions to music and fashion made her one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of the 20th Century. More than two decades after her death, she is still known by one name, Selena. Young latinas not only saw themselves in Selena, they saw that beauty begins within.“ Congratulations #Selena!
On this day in music history: October 21, 1986 - “Polka Party!”, the fourth album by “Weird Al” Yankovic is released. Produced by Rick Derringer, it is recorded at Cherokee Studios in Hollywood, CA from April - September 1986. Like his previous albums, it features parody versions of recent pop hits including ones by James Brown, Robert Palmer and the title track which is a medley of twelve songs strung together and compressed into just over three minutes. In spite of not being as well received as his previous releases (it is one of the few albums by Al not to be certified Gold or Platinum in the US), it is nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Comedy Recording. The original vinyl LP release has the messages “Polka ‘Til You Puke” etched into the runout groove of side A and “Where’s My Liquid Paper?” etched in the runout of side B. “Polka Party” peaks at number one hundred seventy seven on the Billboard Top 200.
