grace i told you

I’m rewatching 10.18, and some of the things Metatron says to Cas seem entirely relevant again after 12.23.

Metatron: ‘What is the maddest thing a man can do?’

(Cas’s grace was hidden in a copy of Don Quixote… and the maddest thing a man can do is let himself die. At which point Cas takes on his own grace…)

CASTIEL: What we did back there was unfortunate. No more of our brothers and sisters should die.
METATRON: Brothers and sisters? Listen to you. Still spitting out the company line like anyone cares. Like we’re actually a family? When what we really are – are a bunch of glowing lights filled with self-loathing or delusions of grandeur. Or both.
CASTIEL: You shut up!
METATRON: No! If I’m gonna die, I want answers. Like, who are you now? Like, you’re obviously not an angel of the Lord. And what about all of this walking the earth like Caine from “Kung Fu” crap? Cleaning up Heaven’s messes. How many more rogue angels are there out there? And, what are you gonna do once you’re done with all that? Go back to Heaven? Please. The angel formerly known as Hannah has restored order up top. Smoothest it’s run since God cut the ribbon on the pearly gates. So tell me, Castiel, truly, what is your mission now?

And then we have this bit between Dean and Cas, as “Behind Blue Eyes” plays in…

DEAN: Hey, look who decided to show. So? You’re back? 100%? How did that happen?
CASTIEL: Um, it was Hannah. She managed to get the location of the remainder of my Grace out of Metatron.
DEAN: Awesome. I told you we were due for a win. Good to have you back, pal.

In other words, he lies. He was “due for a win” and ended up metaphorically dying. All the while convincing himself it it was the right thing…

Things between you and Tommy hadn’t been the same since Grace had arrived in Small Heath. In all fairness, you had barely spoken two words to her so you couldn’t say that you hated her. However, the way that she acted around Tommy was enough to make you feel some negative feelings towards her. The way that she would wrap her arms around Tommy’s neck, or whisper things in his ear made you feel sick. It was obvious that she had feelings for Tommy and sometimes, you thought that maybe Tommy felt the same way. He wouldn’t tell her to back off when she got close to him and instead let her flirt with him.

The Start of Something

shawn mendes x reader

prompt: based on the songs Honest by Shawn Mendes and Ivy by Frank Ocean.

“It’s that I hate to hurt you, but I got to be honest. I can’t give you what you need. You deserve more than I can promise”

“I thought that I was dreaming when you said you loved me, the start of nothing”

The start of something.

The sky was pitch black as the stars danced around and glimmered. The air was cool and our cheeks were flushed. Pointing out the different constellations, lost in our own world. This is how I always want it to be. The 2 of us, enjoying each other’s company, alone. Laughter filled my ears as we laid down on the grass, cracking jokes and being ourselves. The feeling was ethereal. It was almost like I was in some type of dream world. I could dream all night. The feeling deep down is good.

I glanced up at Shawn as I watched him laugh. The way his smile reflected the moon light, how his cheeks would gradually become a deep pink, how his eyes gleamed with joy. I couldn’t help but watch and smile. I guess he had noticed, as the laughter had died down. Shawn looked at me and smiled a weary smile, as if he were trying to figure something out.

Request: I know requests are closed but I’ll forget if I don’t send it in now.. a girl shows up shortly after grace leaves & she says shed like to take the open post at the garrison- but there hasn’t even been an advertisement yet… so they find out grace sent her there to help escape an abusive relationship (she believes the shelbys will keep her safe regardless of what she has done) Arthur ends up falling for her despite tommy saying the shelbys no longer fuck with barmaids(bad for business). - @Ifoundmyhappythought

Request: for working with the shelbys and handling a lot of the money and you are trying to work but arthur tries to distract the reader? Fluffy?

Off Limits - Arthur Shelby

It had hardly been a week without a barmaid when you came in, asking for Harry and telling him that you had heard he was in need of help. He asked where you heard from but you were vague in what information you chose to give out and what information you kept to yourself. Still he needed the help and he didn’t see any harm in allowing you to work there.

The smell of alcohol and smoke, something that you wound never get used to, instantly hit you as you walked inside The Garrison. Grace nodded towards the back room, signalling that the boys were in there.

Kiseok absentmindedly traced patterns over the exposed skin of your thighs as he stared at the computer screen in front of him. He’d been working on this song for far too long and couldn’t seem to think of anything that would work. It didn’t help that he’d been sitting in the same position for so long that he was sure he’d fuse to the chair if he didn’t move soon.

But as he glanced at you sitting on his lap, half asleep and more relaxed than he’d seen you in weeks, he couldn’t bring himself to disturb you. Instead, he continued tracing his fingers over the expanse of your thighs and leaned back in his chair. He couldn’t move but that didn’t mean he had to continue staring at that screen.

Kiseok fixed his gaze on your relaxed form and smiled. Both of you had had such a hectic few weeks that you hadn’t had much time to spend together. He’d been so happy to see you when you walked into his studio but the realization that he still had quite a bit of work to do put a bit of a damper on his mood. You, however, wouldn’t allow him to wallow in his misery.

“Hey, ready to go?” Michael asked Isaiah as he finished his work.

“I can’t tonight. Y/N wants to stay in.”

“Man, she’s got you wrapped ‘round her finger.” He gives him a playful nudge.

“Shut up. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Isaiah says, walking out to head to you.

The night didn’t really go as expected. He showed up at your door and you pulled him in, dragging him up to your room before he could even get in a hello. You pushed him onto the bed. He gave you a confused look as you quickly shut your bedroom door but then he smirked at you as you walked back over.

Reaching for your water after your latest coughing spell, you took a long drink before settling back on your bed, shivering from cold chills.

Why won’t you let me heal you?“ Gabriel asked as he walked back in the room with a box of tissues and a couple blankets over his arm.

“I told you, no angelic grace for anything. I know you and Cas are both running low after that last hunt. You don’t need to waste what’s left on a head cold,” you responded.

“Stubborn girl.” Gabriel crawled into bed beside you, already dressed in sweats and a t-shirt. Wrapping his arm around you, he pulled you against his side before spreading the extra blankets over you. “Are you warm enough?

You nodded, suddenly sleepy as you curled up in your angel’s arms.

Gabriel waited until he knew you were asleep before gently touching your forehead, lightly sending his grace though your body. You could be mad in the morning, but at least you would be healthy.

summary: Felicity Smoak vs The Blood Orange
a/n: inspired by true events… (for @gothsmoak)

Felicity leaned into the fridge, wondering where the hell all her delicious goodies had gone. No candy bars in the butter holder. There was actual butter in there instead. No sweets of any kind in the fridge or on the counter. She lifted her head to look over the door and glare at Oliver in the living room. Grumbling to herself, she reached inside to grab an orange. It wasn’t candy, but she guessed it would do.

She knew that Oliver meant well, but she was not some kale eating rabbit. With a loud and very dramatic sigh, she sat down on the opposite side of the couch. He glanced at her, rolling his eyes before letting his attention go back to the baseball game on their television.

She shoved her thumb nail through the peel and started to work the damn thing off. This was so much effort just to eat. She was hungry and this was taking forever. As she tore the orange peel off, she noticed that the color of the actual fruit didn’t seem right. It wasn’t orange first of all. She got the rest of the peel off and split the orange in half. For a moment she just stared at the red fruit in her hands.

“What the fuck!” she shouted suddenly, startling Oliver in the process.

“What?” he asked, clutching his chest.

“It’s red! What the fuck is wrong with it!?” she shook the fruit at him.

He blinked at her a couple times. The look on his face made her feel like she was some kind of crazy person, but it was red when it was supposed to be orange.

“What’s wrong with it?” she repeated.

“Nothing… Felicity.. it’s a blood orange.”

“What?”

“Honey, you really need to eat more fruit,” he mumbled, “It’s just a blood orange. It’s perfectly safe to eat.”

“Oh….” she looked down at it again, “I’m not eating it.”

“Why?” he asked.

“Why would I eat something with blood in the name? Do I look like a vampire to you,” she put it in his hands, “If it’s so good, you eat it.”

He rolled his eyes at her again, but popped a piece of orange into his mouth.

“Ugh!” she pushed herself back up to go in search of better snacks.

He leaned his head back to look at her, “That was a lot of effort to go through to get out of eating fruit.”

“I have no idea what you are talking about,” she used her middle finger to rub her nose.

He snorted, “I will only bring regular oranges home from now on.”

“Good!”

“And there’s mint chip ice cream hidden all the way in the back of the freezer.”

He knew just how to get back into her good graces, “Have I told you lately how much I love you?” she asked with her head halfway into the freezer.

“I missed that, you might have to tell me again when you get back in here.”

“Mhmm, just eat your nasty blood orange,” she called to him louder.

Something about yours and Tommy’s relationship just wasn’t the same anymore. You spent no time together, didn’t sleep in the same bed and even though you didn’t want to admit it, you knew he was cheating on you. The smell of another girls perfume often could be smelt on him and for some reason, you said nothing. It didn’t break your heart, it didn’t make you angry, you just felt absolutely nothing.

You was positive that you didn’t love Tommy any more. There was something there, but it was more friendship than relationship. You cared deeply for him and always would. You had been in a relationship with him for many years and you should’ve known something was wrong when he wouldn’t make you his wife.

Most of the thoughts happened at night when Tommy stumbled in late. Did he ever love you? It was a question that would often occupy your thoughts. He must have done at one point, otherwise he wouldn’t have stayed with you for as long as he did.

John had been the one to comfort you through these had times, leading you to eventually fall for him. The only emotion that you felt when you returned home to Tommy was guilt. You hadn’t done anything romantically with John, yet there was still this feeling running through system.

anonymous asked:

Dear Jess, I love your stories! Could you please continue writing the Percabeth American Ninja Warrior AU? It was perfect!!! It's a combination of my favorite things: Percabeth, ANW and your writing:)

previously on: so you want to be an american ninja warrior

Annabeth doesn’t realize how serious Percy actually is about this American Ninja Warrior thing until it boils over into a full blown obsession.

To be fair, Percy proposes at least one implausible idea that he has no plans to follow through with a month. How was she supposed to know that becoming a reality show competitor was the one he’d go after instead of, say, opening a seaside burger shack or marrying her?

She probably should’ve figured out it when, two weeks after their first conversation, the Boston qualifiers airs and one of the competitors is a fellow New York firefighter. The guy walks out on stage in full turnout gear, roaring for the crowd as he takes it off, but makes a poor showing, tripping on the third quintuple step (okay, maybe Annabeth’s started paying more attention to the show than she’s ready to admit) and dramatically belly flopping into the pool.

Percy’s finishing a night shift when the episode airs, but they must’ve watched it at the station, because it’s all he can talk about when he gets home in the morning.

“ — can’t believe Ladder 18 is the first company to get a guy on the show and he makes an ass out of himself. How humiliating,” Percy says, gesturing with the half eaten apple in his hand. Annabeth darts under his flailing arms to get to the coffee maker. “Makes us look pathetic, you know? ‘Specially going after the NYPD guy who had the fastest time of the night. Ugh. It had to be a cop.”

If there’s one thing Annabeth’s learned since Percy became a firefighter, it’s the that long standing animosity between New York’s fire and police departments could equal any number of epic rivalries between her immortal Greek relatives. Knowing that, she probably shouldn’t have said what she did, but there’d been a severe lack of coffee in her system and even daughters of Athena make mistakes when lacking caffeine.

“I guess you’ll just have to show them what a real firefighter looks like next season, hmm?” she replies, grabbing her thermos and standing her tiptoes to peck him on the cheek. “I’ll see you tonight, okay?”

Even with that comment, Percy’s dream might’ve just stayed a dream if a familiar face hadn’t popped up on the platform during the San Francisco qualifiers the next week.

“And let’s give a big welcome to this Ninja Warrior rookie, 25-year-old Jason Grace!” Matt Iseman’s introduction is almost as enthusiastic as the stream of beer that spews from Percy’s mouth when their TV screen fills with Jason’s handsome face. “Jason’s a history teacher here in his hometown of San Francisco, and a former college football player who waited in the walk-on line at the urging of his wife, Piper!”

“What the fuck,” Percy hisses as the camera pans to the sidelines where Piper, wearing a Superman shirt, stands and cheers. “What the fuck is this.”

“Looks like Jason’s living your dream,” Annabeth says dryly as Percy dives over the couch arm, frantically reaching for his cell phone on the end table. “Oh, I think I see Frank and Hazel in the stands! How cool.”

Percy lets out a strangled growl, his eyes darting from his contact list to the TV where Jason is waving to Piper, showing of the legion tattoo on his forearm. He’s wearing athletic shorts, a shirt with a Superman logo that matched Piper’s, and, surprisingly, his thick, black rimmed glasses. Jason squares his shoulders, breathing out through his nose, and gets ready to start his run.

“Jason’s friends call him the blonde Superman,” Akbar Gbajabiamila adds to the commentary, “and he’s hoping to fly right through the course to the final round. Let’s see how he does!”

The buzzer sounds and Jason’s off, breezing through the quintuple steps. Percy has his phone jammed up to his ear by the time he gets to the next obstacle, the rolling log, and trouble sets it.

“His 6’2” frame will help him get a good wrap around the log, but can he hold on? He’s got a good rotation, almost made it… whoa! Did you see that, Akbar? Jason Grace made it, but he lost his glasses on the log roll!”

“They’re in the pool!” Akbar responds breathlessly as Jason gets up on the mats, shaking off the dizziness. He glances around for his glasses and, when he doesn’t spot them right away, shrugs and moves on to the next balance. “Matt, I don’t believe this! Jason lost his glasses and he’s going to keep competing. Hello Superman, goodbye Clark Kent!”

“Oooh, good one, Akbar,” Annabeth says, mostly just to annoy Percy, who shoots her a hurt look. He and Jason might be forever bound by the vows of their sacred bromance, but that doesn’t mean there still isn’t a healthy bit of competition between the two of them.

“WHAT THE SHIT, JASON,” Percy hollers into the phone a moment later. On screen, the son of Jupiter makes it past the paddle boards balance obstacle with only a minor trip toward the end. “AMERICAN FUCKING NINJA WARRIOR?”

“Oh, is the episode airing already?” Jason’s tinny voice says, clearly not noticing the utter betrayal in Percy’s tone. “Yeah, that was Piper’s idea. I would’ve said something, but it’s kind of embarrassing, you know?”

EMBARRASSING?” Percy repeats, still at roar level. Annabeth kicks him in the thigh and he lowers his tone, “Akbar called you Superman, dude! You’re living my dream! My dream! How could you?!”

There’s a long pause on the other line and then Jason says, hesitantly, “Oh, um, I didn’t know…?”

“If you’re going to break up with Jason,” Annabeth says loudly, as Percy opens his mouth to rage some more, “can you do it out on the fire escape? I’d like to critique his run in peace.”

Percy pulls the phone away from his mouth to grumble, “We’re not breaking up, what even,” under his breath, but gets up and stomps over to the fire escape window, hissing angrily at Jason the entire way.

On the show, Jason gets as far as the end of the first tilting ladder, but can’t make the five-foot leap to the second ladder, missing the rung by the tips of his fingers. He goes splashing into the pool and Iseman makes a crack about the ladders being Jason’s Kryptonite. He gets out of the pool, smiles winningly at the camera as someone off screen hands his glasses back to him, and says, “Could’ve used these on that last jump!” before the show moves on to the next contestant.

Annabeth shoots Jason a quick sorry about my idiot, you did great! maybe get some contacts next time, huh? XD text and settles in to watch the rest of the episode.

Jason’s run joins the others in her mind that she turns over and analyzes for flaws during the commercial breaks. Not wearing secured glasses was his biggest mistake, obviously, but Jason’s form on the tilting ladders had been poor (“He doesn’t know his alphabet! Where are those L’s?” a voice that sounds an awful lot like Akbar’s asks in her head). Even if he’d had a good enough swing off the first, he probably would’ve dropped from exhaustion toward the end of the second ladder anyway.

She wouldn’t make those mistakes, Annabeth determines with a firm nod, before she realizes how ridiculous she’s being.

Oh, gods. What has watching this show done to her?

Percy misses the last half hour of the show as he bawls out Jason over the phone, stomping back into the living room just in time to see that, despite his fall, their friend had landed in the top 30 and will move on to the city finals.

“That’s it, it’s on,” Percy declares, pointing a threatening finger at the screen, which has son of Jupiter’s name highlighted in yellow. “Jason can suck it. Next year, that’s going to be me on that leader board.”

Even then, Annabeth’s sorry to admit, she doesn’t actually believe he’s going to go through on that promise.

Or that he’ll succeed in dragging her along with him.
