Isn’t it amazing how everyone has gone so solo and yet no record label or member of the band will say a word? And the 3 who have gone solo all managed to pick different labels that make all the various contradictory stories about people going solo half correct?

And the only person who hasn’t gone solo is the one who gets papped the most and does the most appearances around the globe?

Isn’t that something? That’s so reasonable and logical wow. I’m completely buying this.

HITS Daily Double : Rumor Mill - NIALL IN THE FAMILY

Inside sources confirm that, as was rumored in the U.K. tabloids over the weekend, One Directioner Niall Horan is indeed inking with UMG following another fierce signing derby; our sources say the label is Capitol.

Modest! manager Richard Griffiths, who reps 1D, will continue to manage the Brit heartthrob, whose social footprint among the group’s fans is second only to that of erstwhile bandmate Harry Styles (himself freshly signed as a solo act). The word from people who’ve heard Niall’s record is that it’s outstanding.

For those of you keeping score, UMG has two of the lads, Liam Payne (on Capitol U.K.) and now Niall; Uni is thus tied with Sony, which now has Styles on Columbia and ZAYN on RCA. SYCO’s Simon Cowell apparently thought he would prevail this time on behalf of the label group. Would Niall have been placed with Epic in the U.S. had he done so? In any case, the ultimate destination of potential tiebreaker Louis Tomlinson remains TBD.

Niall's new team worked very hard on this! I would think they're mostly using his account b/c he has the most followers! I follow this guy from Capitol's marketing team and he's been tweeting about the work it took. Ex. twitter*com/NorthwestNick/status/781648436885979136 The day before it dropped he tweeted something about a crazy few weeks and hoping it would pay off. I think it did!

Wow, thanks for the heads up on Nick. Not only were his tweets enlightening about how that all went down, but what a LOVELY guy (seriously, read thru his tweets, he’s great!)

Niall/Capitol Records Official Statement

Former One Direction star Niall Horan has signed a record deal with Capitol Records USA, releasing his first solo single This Town today (September 29). Horan commented ‘I’m excited to announce I have signed a record deal with Capitol Records USA and released my first solo song. Thank you to all the One Direction fans for your love and support as always. I’m looking forward to the next part of this journey together’.
HITS Daily Double : Rumor Mill - NIALL COMES TO "TOWN"

One Direction alumnus and fresh Capitol signing Niall Horan has dropped his first solo single, “This Town,” on all major digital providers, including iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify. He’s also premiered a live “1 Mic 1 Take” video performance captured at the storied Capitol Studios; you can see the clip, which bowed on Vevo this morning, below. The single is set to debut on Ryan Seacrest’s syndicated show at presstime as well.

Horan co-wrote the delicate acoustic track with Greg Kurstin (who also produced),Jamie Scott, Mike Needle and Daniel Bryer.

Coming just after UMG’s A&R meetings in Hampshire, U.K., Horan’s release is the first offering from a very important worldwide signing for the company and one of the top records of the meetings, according to many of the attendees.

Horan has an enormous social footprint, with 21m+ Twitter followers, 17.2mInstagram followers and 10m Facebook likes.

He’s managed, as he was in 1D, by Modest! chief Richard Griffiths, whose relationship with Capitol chief Steve Barnett goes back several decades; the pair have most recently worked closely on the lad band 5 Seconds of Summer, who were touted as having been discovered by 1D.

In case you needed reminding about the reach of Niall’s former group, One Direction earned $125m in 2015 alone, the majority coming from their 74-date world tour, which earned seven-figure grosses at each stop. Albums Up All Night (2011) and Take Me Home (2012) have sold 2m+ RTD, while 2013’s Midnight Memories moved 1.5m+ and Four (2014) sold more than 1m.  Singles “What Makes You Beautiful” (2011, 4.9m) and “Story of My Life’ (2013, 2.9m) are their top-selling tracks. The lads initially announced their hiatus in August, three months before they released Made in the A.M., the last album under theirSYCO/Columbia deal, which has sold 860k RTD.

“Thank you to all the One Direction fans for your love and support as always,” reads a message from Horan to his admirers. “I’m looking forward to the next part of this journey together.”
