South by Andy South

March 24, 2011

It was thirty minutes past five when I arrived at the Ala Moana Centerstage in search of Malie Moran, my boss and lady in charge of running the show. I spot her almost instantly with a clipboard in one hand and the other hand pointing in my direction. With that, I knew a task was waiting for me. I was to greet the Governor of our state and escort him along with his guests to their seats and the after party. In addition, I was given the opportunity to take backstage photos and the show. Since tumblr will only allow me to post 10 pics, here are just a few of the many I took.

Now, if the full house is any indication of how well his line will do, then South by Andy South will no doubt see some numbers. The story of this collection was simply magical. Just imagine, living in a place where after many weeks of winter, you finally see a glimpse of spring; a flower ready to bloom. To me, this is exactly what Andy showed us that night with his collection pieces in dark hues and snow like confetti falling, in the end a bright yellow dress with a flower head piece emerges and spring is here! It was as if Andy was mother nature reminding us of how beautiful the first sign of spring can be. Thanks Andy.
