Seems like it was a good idea to spread out the GOTY shoots/recordings to two weeks rather than one. Hopefully its giving you a little bit less stress trying to get all of that done. Plus we have still gotten a few quick looks since you guys aren't in total lock down.

It’s hard to ask those guys to be away from home for two whole weeks, but it’s been a somewhat better process so far.

I suspect we’ll still find ourselves up against some hard deadlines by the end of this week, though. That just seems to be how it always goes.

Goty!

OVERWATCH WON GOTY FAM, also i totally get why doom won action game of the year, it just captured the action better than overwatch considering the fact its mcfucking doom

i had a feeling it was gonna win goty, bc of how popular it is, and yeah i think doom deserved it more. i also think inside definitely deserved to win art direction over ovw

Can’t wait to play this. Already looks like GOTY 2017 imho.

I think that my GOTY List will be rather controversial cause I mostly go off of Titles I played in 2016 and I can bet your arse none of the big western hits are gonna be on it. Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards Show wasn’t that great to begin with this year.

The Last of Us Part II Revealed at PSX

I can’t tell you how satisfying it is to finally be able to say that Ellie and Joel are back for another intense, harrowing, and emotional adventure. Like many of you, we have a deep love for the world of The Last of Us and its characters, and while a sequel may have seemed like a foregone conclusion, it wasn’t the case. We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie. After spending years on different ideas (and almost giving up), we finally uncovered a story that felt special—a story that evolved into an epic journey.

It’s still early days for the project–the game’s release is a ways off–but we couldn’t wait any longer to give you a glimpse of what’s to come. We’re going to let the trailer speak for itself, but expect more information about The Last of Us Part II in the coming months.

In the meantime, if you’re at PSX today or watching the live stream from home, don’t miss our panel at 2:00pm PT where I’ll be joined by Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker to talk about the reveal. Keep an eye on Naughty Dog’s channels to see more of what we’re up to this weekend at PSX.

Until next time, endure and survive!

Director, The Last of Us Part II

It’s december now and I realized that honestly, I’ve played like three games that released this year. I have never had a year this boring for discussing game of the year. I might do a post relatively soon this month though talking about all of my other GotY’s for the last 16 years. That’s really all I’ve got to reflect on in that regard. But I think it’ll be fun, and it’ll make anyone who reads it feel old.

doom getting best action game but not goty makes no sense

overwatch was up for best action game, you literally already said doom was a better game than overwatch

Well, I feel so damn late with my Skyrim Experience™. Like, I had this game for quite a while now, but never did more that slaying your first dragon and becoming an archmage. Only the sudden appearance of the Skyrim SE in my steam library made me finally go through the game.

And well, what do ya know, I am collecting daedric artifacts, the world-ending dragon is gone, sneaking through vampiric castle, thinking when I should finally go find that goddamn dragon priest. This game got me so much fun I thought about getting other Elder Scrolls games and what do you know, Arena and Daggerfall (two old, old games) are free which is cool, and Morrowind and Oblivion (both GotY) are 15 euro each (one is 14 yo game, another is 9 yo. kinda too much imvho so I might wait until there’s a big enough discount)

But I had this one idea; that during the Alduin’s battle in the Sovngarde, all the Last Dragonborn from all playthroughs, from all Dragon Breaks, from all those un-times would form an army, doesn’t matter if you’re a Nord, Imperial, Ork, Elf, Khajit or other; Imperial soldier, Stormcloak rebel or neutral wanderer; that all those people would form an army that would challenge the World-Eater in a fight worthy a legend

Thoughts on the game awards? Goty, trailers you thought were exciting

Thank you for the questions! :-D

I was pleased Overwatch won a few awards, it was certainly deserving of a few. But game of the year? I dunno about that one. I mean it’s good sure but the salt and rage it creates in it’s wake bothers me. Though I guess you can’t deny it’s already had a huge impact on social media and gaming as a whole.

Personally I was happier that DOOM won a few, especially for soundtrack as the entire thing is mental. Given it’s particularly tumultuous development period, for it to win anything I thought was pretty awesome. I was especially happy that they performed some of the tracks live, especially BFG Division as that’s literally the best track on the entire soundtrack. It’s probably one of the best themes to any game I’ve heard in a while, it’s awesome!

Can I just say I don’t get Death Stranding at all? And Breath of the Wild looks amazing.
