got the folie a deux one

to you (unfinished, off the top of my head)

It all started with some friends and a van
a kick drum inside my ribs
Preaching electric into a microphone stand
Raise your red plastic cup
And Turn the laughter up
We fell asleep in the grass on the summer fest days
You’d never guess I’m still trying to get my head screwed on straight
All us believers still believe
Everytime we sing “two more weeks”
Someone shoulda thrown us in a cell and swallowed the key
Somebody shoulda told us to leave em be
The only news we tuned in to was the traffic update
Nothing feels as close to home as nightime windows down on 88
Lax to berlin and back
Wake up on the west coast inside a flask
The good books in the drawer next to the bed you pissed in
passports a blur, full of stamps from places I missed you in
They’ll tell you everything about last night that you forget
Pack your suitcase, joes in the back smoking a jazz cigarette
They hated me before they ever loved me
I’m not ready for things to change
I miss you missing me in the good old days
Got stuck in the cell of you and me
I guess it still beat solitary
—–Worry worry
Put my head in such a flurry
Freckle freckle
What makes you so special——-
One of these days yr gonna wake up in heaven
Laugh about that night you got four stitches above your eye
when they let the guitars fly
Never trust a band that wouldn’t bleed for you
Never believe in anyone who wouldn’t drive through the night
(To you)
They never tell you in school you’ll feel so alone
Wake me up again when were in the same time zone
The way I’d take a cornfield over a coast
Mulitply me times what you adore most
There were nights between yellow lines
When I confessed to you riding shotgun asleep under purple skies
They say
You get what you get
Well we Got lost in the middle of nowhere And you almost quit
Tonight Come together
Come apart
You can get lonely when u
Only read the charts
Called everybody I knew in this life
Can we get it together just for tonite

I miss old friends and “play it agains”
Please Send my love,
to everyone above

Pete posted the above to one of his secret blogspots (deleted long ago) on August 13, 2008. This has always been my favorite. A few things:

  • This was posted just before the release of Folie A Deux was announced, while the band was still working on the album, and was titled “to you (unfinished, off the top of my head)” (the you presumably being Patrick who was using the words for lyrics **I’m going to edit myself here and add that it can also be a broader “you,” meaning the fans). You’ll see a lot of lines from Coffee’s For Closers in here and the chorus from w.a.m.s
  • During the Save Rock and Roll record cycle, Patrick mentioned revisiting some of Pete’s older lyrics and finding some that he had initially dismissed for dumb reasons like being irritated with Pete over something else.
  • Cut to American Beauty/American Psycho and you can a slightly modified version of the line “When I confessed  to you riding shotgun asleep under purple skies” has made it into “Favorite Record,” along with references to “windows down,” “drive through the night,” and “play it agains.”
  • There are a lot of references in here to the band’s connection with/devotion to the fans–“All us believers still believe every time we sing ‘two more weeks’,” “Never trust a band that wouldn’t bleed for you, Never believe in anyone who wouldn’t drive through the night (To you)”
  • In this interview, Pete mentions “Favorite Record” was the song that almost didn’t make it on to AB/AP but that it won out because it felt like a song that was for the fans.

Panic! Split theory

Tl;dr: it’s not a ryden thing. It’s about money and success and… Pete Wentz.

I have the feeling that conflict was between Ryan and label or something. And maybe i’m a bad person for i think of music industry as an industry which main goal is to make money but for me it means split was a weighted decision.

Since Pete Wentz signed panic he had some influence on them. Pete said here:

albums i’m looking forward right now? i’m looking forward to panic at the disco record because it’s really weird right now and completely out of control… this dude was twenty years old when he got famous and his dad passed away and he didn’t have any family and he’s so loved but so unloved

Ryan did a great job writing a fever and his father just died so Ryan was allowed to write whatever he wanted and Pete had no interest to interupt him. Also fob and patd were so big and Pete had no idea that they would start losing their fame.

Ryan said here that Pete had zero input in panic’s music as if he was proud of his independence. I guess it was the thing worth to be proud of because Pete could’ve interfered.

Then panic released pretty.odd. which wasn’t that successful as their first album. Later this year fob were writing folie a deux and fighting a lot. Pete had to cope with crisis in both bands. There were drugs, writing problems, financial loss and there was Ryan with his new found inner beatle who did nothing but stalled all business. First of all Pete decided to return panic their old sound. So since Ryan didn’t want to do old panic he had no choice but leaving the band.

Jon said in this tyv’s interview:

once you’ve reached a certain level of success there’s a bunch of people that come around trying to tell you how you got successful and how you can continue to stay successful when really they have no idea what they are talking about but neither do we

One of these people might’ve been Pete. And if it was about him the end of the quote would make even more sense because folie a deux was unsuccessful either and fob was on hiatus.

Apparently during split Brendon was again like “its not my band i’ll do whatever you want” but he couldn’t write. That’s why probably Pete wrote eight (out of 16) songs on vices. He even credited on metrolyrics but there is no lyrics credits to him on Allmusic and therefore wiki which is really strange. I guess it’s a big input compared to zero in pretty.odd. and it’s so shady.

Brendon’s appearance on folie a deux (20 dollars nose bleed) might be another proof of worsening relationship between Pete and Ryan. Moreover Pete stoped to take drugs after folie a deux but there was a picture with Ryan and (not) his coke.

Pete didn’t like that pretty.odd. was too gay. There were so many band members that were rumoured to be gay but i’m not sure if there was at least one ship that came out or was proven to be a couple. It looks like a few gay rumours were okay but being gay was not that great. That said Pete ended ryden as well as petekey. But i believe that ryden was ended before split when Brendon met Sarah and for him ryden was never a big deal.

All of it means that Pete is wise and tough-minded person. It means he can sacrifice everything to pursue his career. Is he this kind of person? I just don’t know him at all i’m more of a panic fan.
My big long ASOTM theory

(This is going to be pretty long, and do I have to even explain that this will contain spoilers?)

Okay so the inconsistency in a Splitting of The Mind and the shitty ass president plot got me thinking, there had to be something else behind it all. There HAD to be another explanation, all the weird things that just made no sense at ALL. And trust me, I lost this story with all my heart, it’s my second favorite next to Folie A Deux. So to wrap it all together into one neat little package, here’s my theory about what’s really going on in A Splitting of The Mind.

First off, I’m going to address the elephant in the room, Gerard being the presidents son. This is just way too convenient for the plot and way too stupid to actually be cannon. I propose this, what if Gerard isn’t the presidents son, but a former member of the FBI who went rouge. Obviously I realize this is a huge leap, but I’ve got evidence so stay with me. This theory hinges on the idea that Mikey isn’t Gerard’s brother in ASOTM, but in fact the child he was guarding and looking after as member of the secret service. This explains why Gerard refers to Mikey as Michael in his dreams, why would Gerard only remember Mikey’s real name instead of his nickname if they were brothers. This also explains why Mikey doesn’t recognize Gerard as his brother, Mikey explains that he recognizes Gerard but doesn’t directly call him his brother, which could mean that Mikey could possibly have another brother, getting shot and his mentality reverting wouldn’t make him lose his memory like that. (Don’t quote me on that, correct me if I’m wrong) This also covers why Gerard would be sent off in the first place, he still shot Mikey and afterwards they figured out his mental condition and sent him to a highly guarded facility. The president used the idea that Gerard was Mikey’s older brother to cover up that the presidents security or the president himself could be dangerous or incompetent, hiring mentally ill people to be his security for the public.

This brought up another question, why doesn’t Gerard remember anything? Well that’s fairly simple, they needed Gerard to believe that he was the presidents son and to not tell anyone about what actually happened or secrets the president wanted to keep hidden, and trust me, if the president trusted Gerard to keep his SON safe, he would have had to have known some pretty top secret stuff.

And another thing I wondered about was the facility itself, this isn’t any normal care facility, it has locks and keys and pass codes and barred windows and even a barbed fence, they don’t want these people to escape. And why would Ray and his brother be terrified of getting caught, the least that would happen is more restrictions and maybe being watched for a while. This is the whole reason Gerard is sent here, it’s owned by the president for people in his staff or military who are born or who fall mentally ill to a severe extent to where they could be a danger to him or his family, other staff, and especially the people. It obviously isn’t a normal facility, because from what I heard from someone who’s actually been to a facility like this, he described it as “an orphanage, they take care of you there and everything is extremely homey”. And there’s one tiny detail that always bothered me in ASOTM, who is that picture of a girl on Markman’s desk. I’ve always thought it was her daughter, but it isn’t really revealed if Markman is married or has kids so this is a huge leap, but if it his her daughter or her niece or someone like that, then why do we never see her enter the facility, or ever hear Markman talk about her. It’s because she has to keep her life secret from Gerard, this also explains why there’s only Markman, the main doctor and almost like a warden, and multiple nurses instead of multiple doctors. The only other Doctor we see is Doctor Leto and he isn’t even from this facility, and I always thought it was odd how he immediately sedated Gerard, it’s because he KNEW Gerard had the potential to be extremely dangerous.

Now we’re getting somewhere, but what about Jasper, and more importantly, what about Them. Let’s start with Jasper, first off we know Gerard is schizophrenic because of Jasper. Gerard can make Jasper disappear when he’s extremely agitated and its PROVEN that Frank cannot see Jasper even when Gerard can. And Gerard can speak to Jasper and feel Jasper when he touches him, but Gerard can’t reach out and touch Jasper and feel him. But who is Jasper, I think Jasper is a former college that Gerard used to work with, that would explain why Gerard is so relaxed around him even though he knows Jasper could mislead him, and why, according to this theory, Gerard believes everything he says. And Them, honestly this was a tough one to understand and try and break through. Obviously, Gerard sees them, but unlike Jasper they never speak to him or touch him. We’re led to believe that Gerard is just imagining them, but it’s obvious Markman or anyone else isn’t frightened or even concerned to hear Gerard talk about Them. So who are They? I think they’re actually just staff working around to see if Gerard is still safe and administrating medicine to Markman. That explains why They always appear when no one else is around, but most of Gerard’s experiences with Them are due to his schizophrenia, for instance Gerard in the shower scene. That’s why they kill off Gerard in the end, they were Gerard’s doctors, ordered by the president to kill off the boy who now knew about his affiliation with the president, which wasn’t good.

And what about Frank? I always thought his timing was far too convenient and his role as Gerard’s guardian angel was too cliche and stupid, so who is he? Well I kept thinking and thinking and thinking until I came up with an explanation, what if Frank was an agent too. He was sent to keep an eye on Gerard, which means he has to be near the same age as Gerard instead of 17, he’s about 20 then. This explains why Frank accidentally ends up destroying Gerard’s sketch book filled with drawings and theories, and why Frank is somewhat of a hinderance on Gerard’s journey to escape the facility or find his ‘father’. He wants to keep Gerard from finding out the truth, even if that means keeping him hooked with sex or any other means of manipulation or lies. He isn’t actually a rape victim, he isn’t actually in love with Gerard. This explains why Gerard only finds small bits of information in Frank’s file and why Gerard is sent off to a different facility, he needs to have different doctors to kill him off, Frank is just going back home off duty, a job well done even though Frank failed at keeping him from finding out, he still kinda succeeded. Gerard would have ended up dead either way.

Well there you have it, my ASOTM theory, feel free to tell me if I missed anything or if I got anything wrong. Thank you for actually reading this long, there aren’t many or any ASOTM theories out there so I decided to think of one, I’m actually really proud of this theory and I think it’s definitely possible. Again if I missed anything feel free to let me know.

Credits to @extremelybadlydrawnemos for asking for me to post this and also for being an awesome artist.

IMAGINE (this is super fake and long, ok?)

“UGH, I’m sooooo hungry!” Patrick moaned as he picked up the phone for his, what, 12th interview of the day? This was the last one. A 15-minute call to New Zealand. And then they could go eat.

“There needs to be a rule,” Elisa said, sitting cross-legged on the couch next to her boyfriend while he dialed in, her hands animating her words while she talked. “Dinner is to be eaten between 5 and 7 p.m. and no later. Any meal eaten after the allotted time must be a fourth meal.”

“I swear if they ask one more question about Pete I’m gonna straight up hang up,” Patrick said.

“Do it.”

“No, that’s mean.”

“You know,” Elisa said, leaning back into the couch with a devious smirk on her lips, “I could totally get you out of this interview in 5 minutes. Want me to?”

“No, it’s okay,” Patrick replied, apologetically. “It’s just 15 minutes and then we can go.”

“Suit yourself.”

Just then, the low-pitched voice of a woman emerged from the other line. “Thank you, Albert,” the voice said, referring to the strange man who connected the conference call. “Okay, bye. Hello Patrick?”

Patrick set her on speaker. “Hi,” he greeted.

“Hi, how are you?”

“I’m good, how are you?”

“I’m good, I’m just wondering where Albert is –”

Oh boy. Patrick rolled his eyes. Elisa dropped her head in her hands. This one definitely wasn’t going to be about the music. Not about the inspiration behind Folie a Deux. No, this was gonna be one of those interviews.

Just play along with it, Patrick told himself, as the conversation floated topics from “people who answer conference calls” to “rock stars’ punctuality.” The interviewer’s voice – really getting on Elisa’s nerves. She listened as the talk continued on, now focusing on her boyfriend’s penchant for being late or forgetting about scheduled appointments. Suddenly, Elisa got an idea.

“Can you laugh and say you have to go?” she blurted aloud.

“Oh! Who was that?” the interviewer reacted.

Patrick glared at Elisa with wide eyes, pointing furiously at the phone to remind her they were on speaker. “Oh no, my girlfriend’s…wondering when all the interviews are gonna be over,” he chuckled nervously.

“It’s seven!” Elisa chimed, moving closer to the speaker so the radio could pick up her voice.

“Wow, she’s got you ‘round her little fingah!” the interviewer responded. “When are we going, honey?”

“The train does not wait!” Elisa continued. She fell backward into the sofa, giggling maniacally, her hands over her mouth to suppress her laughter. There was no train.

Patrick covered the speaker with his hand and pursed his lips at her. “Behave yourself,” he mouthed.

Elisa lay on the couch, attempting controlled inhales and exhales to calm down as the interview went on. The next few questions weren’t so bad. What is the best job you’ve ever had outside of rock ‘n’ roll? What do you love about New Zealand? This was good. As long as she didn’t ask about –

“With Pete Wentz being your mate and everything, what is it like hanging out, is he really that pretty in real life…?”

There it was. No. That’s it. It’s over.

“Okay, we’re leaving!” Elisa exclaimed. Loud enough for the speaker. Loud enough for the interviewer to react.

Patrick froze. He placed his hand over the speaker and looked at Elisa. “We’re going,” he whispered.

“Hmm?” Elisa perked, her brown eyes brightening.

“I’m seriously letting you go now because your girlfriend has really frightened me, so I’m going to let you go to dinner – ” the interviewer said. Boom.

Patrick blushed, his eyes wandering toward the clock. 7:05. Five minutes. Elisa did it. “Fair enough,” he laughed.

And the crew hung up. Patrick looked up at his crazy girlfriend, who was already standing, hands raised in the air, hips shaking awkwardly – yet shamelessly – in a victory dance.

“You know that got recorded,” Patrick said. “You know that’s probably gonna go on the internet and everyone is gonna hate you forever.”

“Oh, let ‘em hate,” Elisa smiled. “It fuels me.” And she kept dancing.

Patrick shook his head and sighed as he stood to his feet. Elisa grabbed his hand and led him out the door, her sweet yet sinister voice singing, “I! Don’t! Care what you think as long as it’s abouuut meee…”

“Please stop.”

Fall Out Boy - Mania

Guys. Serious talk time. From all I’ve gained since Young and Menace hit, there have been a lot of polarized reactions to it. And the interviews that I’ve heard since, this is laying out to scarily similar to Folie. Not in sound terms, but the way people are reacting, it’s kind of vicious. With all the information I’ve gathered since this morning, like Folie a Deux, Patrick is putting a ton of work into this album - mostly being influenced by him musically experimenting, and the album still isn’t finished. But I really feel like Mania is going to be the post-hiatus Folie a Deux.

I can understand why people may not like the single, but it doesn’t mean that is how the whole album is going to sound. I mean My Songs didn’t sound like all of SRAR, and Centuries and Irresistible didn’t sound like all of ABAP. You don’t have to like the single. That’s fine. BUT PLEASE DO NOT GO SHITTING ON SOMETHING THE BAND IS SO PROUD OF AND WANTS TO SHARE. They didn’t have to release this. They didn’t have to announce a new album or tour. But they did.

You wouldn’t call any one of their kids rude or obscene names. Mania is Patrick’s album baby, just like Folie was; you can be critical, but don’t be mean for the sake of being mean. No one is shoving this down your throat. I hope the bandom has learned from the mistakes made during Folie era. It would really sadden me and probably make the band feel heartbroken if they got Folie era treatment (Booing when playing new content, things thrown at them, getting told their music is shit, and ect.) again. I would loathe the bandom if that ever happened. Just some food for thought.

With that let Mania begin.

I swear to god Pete's a genius

I recently got my grubby little hands on one of fall out boy’s hidden tracks, Pavlove, from Folie à Deux.

BUT: I read probably way too far into it and i think i figured the title out. Stick with me little chicken mcnuggets you’re in for a ride.

So, Pavlov’s Dog was an experiment. Pavlov trained his dog using a bell and the dog’s food. Each time food was served to the dog, he rang the bell. After enough time the dog associated the ringing of the bell with food, and would salivate even if no food was present. This is known as classical conditioning.

SO the title is a combination of ‘Pavlov’ and 'Love’, the title must mean that the subject of the song/ title is someone who is being classically conditioned to love someone or something. It’s pretty sad when you think about it. Someone was being forced to love something

Disclaimer: I tend to read into things and i could be totally wrong

P. S. Have fun with this

  • Pete also has his own company Clandestine Industries, which distributes books, clothes and other goods. Besides, he has his own recording Studio Decaydance Records, on which were written the albums of groups such as Panic! At The Disco, October Fall, Gym Class Heroes, The Hush Sound, and Lifetime. I got my first tattoo three days ago, Friday the 13th! It’s an image of antlers and I got it to represent Fall Out Boy’s Sugar We’re Goin’ Down. I’m madly in love with this little gem and I receive compliments on it so often now!
My next tattoo will be yet another Fall Out Boy one, but that’s okay.

the 1975, folie a deux

the 1975 — have you seen any bands live? If so, which ones?
I have not ): I almost saw The Neighbourhood and Frank Iero and the Patience, but I got in trouble both times so I wasn’t allowed to go

folie a deux — favorite lyrics?
Man um basically every line in Heaven Help Us, and that one fob lyric that’s like “everything you say can and will be held against you, so only say my name” because that is smooth as hell

yo it's Number One Patrick Stump Fan again (that was long)(i have an acc but my social anxiety is as worse as yuuri's and it extends to The Internet People)(that includes you) and i LOVE young and menace (i still have it on repeat please save me) but i agree it would've been better without the synth. i expected patrick stump's gorgeous screamer vocals and i got alvin and the chipmunks singing in a dishwasher. (ALSO YES FOLIE A DEUX IS MY JAM W.A.M.S. AND 27 MAKES ME FEEL THINGS I CAN'T EXPLAIN)

God W.A.M.S. is so good!! I always listen to music really loud when a flight takes off (bc I get a little scared ok can you blame me) and last time I blasted W.A.M.S. and I was just HAPPILY ROCKING OUT it is such a good song!!!!! And 27!!!!!! And Folie a Deux in general!!!!!! I’m!!!!

I love you so much it’s weird: Pete Wentz

Tonight the headphones will deliver you the words that I can’t say, tonight I’m writing you a million miles away. Tonight is all about "We miss you.”

“Here’s to the kids. This one’s not for the kids, who always get what they want, but for the ones who never had it at all.  It’s not for the ones who never got caught, but for the ones who always try and fall. This one’s for the kids who didn’t make it, we were the kids who never made it.

I…” Malfoy starts but can’t bring himself to say more.

“You…?” Harry supplies.

“I…” Inhaling deeply, Malfoy looks as though he’s bracing himself for some sort of excruciating pain. “… Well, Mother thinks I should apologize to you. What for, I really haven’t got the faintest idea. Though I suppose it could have something to do with me trying to murder you, harbouring thoughts of murdering you, repeatedly insulting you, and designing awfully clever schemes to make your life miserable.” Malfoy pauses to stare at Harry. “You can take your pick, Potter. You can choose them all, if you wish. I’m only apologizing this one time, so I guess that would be okay.
—  Folie à Deux by pasdexcuses

headcanon that nursey is like a closet fob fan and one day he and dex are driving somewhere and dex is shotgun therefore ~DJ duties~ and dex is finding music on nursey’ phone (because come on we all know nursey had spotify premium and dex is like “ain’t nobody got money for that bitch I’ll deal with the freakin adds”) so dex is going through nursey’s playlists and it’s like super indie music and then *suddenly* Folie à Deux and dex is like ????? And nursey gets all awkward (so not chill) and is like “it’s poetic oKAy? I like the lyrics” and basically nursey never truly gave up his emo phase even after he became a ~chill hipster~ ™
