I only ever like characters that are assholes but then become better and more likable or even who stay assholes but who also have a tragic backstory or are emotionally complex IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME WITH A NEW SHOW/MOVIE/BOOK I ENJOY
Since we’re talking about Gilmore Girls this week, I’m going to go ahead and mount a defense of the ship I occasionally judge myself for shipping.
I have a well-documented hatred for some of TV’s most beloved brooding bad boys with daddy issues (mostly Chuck Bass tbh), so I’ve always been surprised by how hard I ship Rory/Jess. Part of it, I think, is that Gilmore Girls has much better writing than Gossip Girl and Jess is a more interesting character than Chuck Bass, but most of it actually has very little to do with Jess. It has to do with the kind of person Rory is. As I read Rory, there are two fundamental things that drive her relationships.
More under the jump, because boy howdy do I get wordy when I start psychoanalyzing Rory Gilmore.
I don’t normally get excited about followers but I’m one off 150 which is really cool because I don’t follow that many people.
So I just wanted to say that I love you all even if I don’t follow you. If I don’t and you’d think I’d like you/your blog let me know, because I like to follow people. But if you’re like 100% Sherlock or Doctor Who I’ll probably pass. There’s already a lot of that on my dash.
When I get 150 followers I will draw some of you some fabulous fan art if you ask. By fabulous I don’t actually mean fabulous.
