gorilla yogis

This sounds like a really awesome event and I plan on attending. The Gorilla Yogi’s don’t take themselves very seriously, so classes are fun and accessible to all levels. Plus the Minneapolis Institute of Arts is a gorgeous building with some really wonderful exhibits. Let me know if you would like to join me.

Celebrate the Sacred Practice of Yoga

Ring in the New Year with Gorilla Yogis at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Our hour-long vinyasa yoga practice will be held in the “SACRED” exhibit space. This fun-loving class is open to all Gorillas and there will be private tours of the “Sacred” exhibit after class.

For this installation, MIA curators probe the nature of the sacred within a secular, multi-faith society. By juxtaposing works of art from multiple times and places, “Sacred” invites visitors to explore historic expressions of the divine, the spiritual, the essential, the most-beloved, and to ponder the word’s meaning to their personal lives.

GORILLA YOGIS is a movement, a migration to yoga beyond studio walls. Gorilla Yogis gather to practice urban jungle yoga in unexpected, offbeat places. In parks, on street corners, in museums, art galleries, at cafes, in restaurants, in music venues, on barges on the Mississippi River, on rooftop decks, on farms, in barns, in lofts, abandoned spaces, baseball fields. It’s yoga out of captivity. Each month we host donation based yoga events where we raise money for organizations that are doing hard work to make this jungle an awesome place to live.
