↳get to know me:favorite female characters → the ghibli girls “Many of my movies have strong female leads – brave, self-sufficient girls that don’t think twice about fighting for what they believe in with all their heart. They’ll need a friend, or a supporter, but never a savior. Any woman is just as capable of being a hero as any man.”(– Hayao Miyazaki)
“There is a place for everyone in our universe And you my friend are far from home But me? I’m right where I want to be” —- I’m so sorry for the long ass post and for another sappy klance pic with lame quotes!! (I made up the quote for those who are wondering!) I am a slut for keith feeling like he’s finally home with his space family and of course with lance lol
the cw….. is out there…… doin some racist ass shit…… and none of yall open your mouths to say it so im gonna say it!! floriana lima is white. yet the cw brought back the POC maggie plotline even with the backlash after the viewers found out (which was well deserved) and responses from fans saying it upset them and again it’s super shitty. but no, they being the cishet white network, they make a whole episode centered around maggie’s heritage, might i mention the actor who played her father is…… also white.
-felix eventually warms up to her. it’s slow and it’s full of snarky backhanded compliments but delphine knows she’s been accepted when a few months in she enters the flat with cosima and felix frantically hides a tiny canvas he’s been working on. later that night, when he’s gone, she pulls it out from it’s haphazard hiding spot and sees that he’s painted her in profile. (it’s beautiful, and she only tears up a little bit. cosima laughs.)
-for all of her attitude and confidence when she convinced sarah to masquerade as rachel, delphine still does not know how to handle the unpredictable hailstorm that is sarah manning- and sarah has no idea that delphine is terrified of her. felix and sarah’s “join us for a pint?” is usually answered with a quiet, wide-eyed “non, thank you” until cosima drags her out against her will. slowly, delphine learns that sarah is wild, yes, but she has a heart of gold, and a soul that is unrivaled. she realizes that sarah may be the only person who loves cosima as much as she does, and it makes her heart ache, in the best of ways.
-delphine is terrible with kids. kira can feel how uncomfortable she is in the brief time they spend together, and tries to make her feel more at ease. cosima comes back from a short shopping trip to find delphine sitting stiffly on the couch with no less than 4 of felix’s necklaces thrown around her neck, kira attempting to braid her curls. “we’re playing dress up” kira says, but delphine’s eyes say “please help me.” cosima does not help her- she only laughs and finds more accessories for kira to inflict upon her girlfriend.
-when delphine nervously tells her parents about her new lover over the phone, (”papa, it is not something temporary. i love her.”) there is a brief pause. “her?” they ask. yes, she tells them, and she is incredible. delphine has prepared for an argument, has readied herself with both scientific and social explanations for her newfound sexuality, but she needs neither. her mother laughs and congratulates her, asking to speak to cosima. (france is far, and delphine’s father does not travel well; it will be a while before cosima can meet them in person.) cosima does not speak french, and delphine’s parents only barely speak english, but delphine hands her girlfriend the phone all the same, and watches as cosima’s eyes crinkle in equal parts laughter and confusion as she stumbles through conversation. “we love her as well,” her father tells her when she gets the phone back, and a weight she did not know she was carrying lifts from her shoulders.
-delphine wonders about cosima’s parents, and when she asks, she finds out that cosima told her mother about delphine the day they met. “the day we met??” delphine asks, shocked. cosima laughs. “yeah, before you mentioned the long distance boyfriend. i asked her if she knew any french, because there was a really hot girl in the lab and i wanted to ask her out. she told me to sing you the lyrics to lady marmalade.”
-helena adores her. she occasionally toys with delphine’s curls without warning, and when delphine jumps in surprise (every time) helena laughs and laughs. she asks (demands?) one day, “how is your hair curled like this? you will teach me.” this is whysarah returns to the loft one night to find delphine and cosima taking large curlers out of helena’s hair while felix snickers in the background. it looks nothing like delphine’s hair, but helena could not be more ecstatic with the result. “sestra, do you see? feel.” she makes sarah touch her hair every few minutes, always pointing at delphine. “the french one helped me. she is very nice.” delphine tries very hard not to laugh every time sarah rolls her eyes.
