Mantids are ideal photography subjects because not only are they interesting, both in looks and personality (seriously, they’re the cats of the insect world), but they are also pretty slow moving - except when catching prey. I have yet to get a good picture of prey capture. In the meantime, here are some pictures of Gongylus (Violin Mantis) and Heirodula (Chinese Mantis). It kinda looks like the Heirodula gal in the bottom is playing a piano!
