Here’s a unique piece of ephemera from comics’ golden age. My girlfriend’s Grandmother, the inimitable Edith Block, worked for Goodman Publishing back in the day. For her 18th birthday Stan Lee had Captain America artist Al Avison whip up this singing telegram themed birthday card, signed by Lee, Avison and the girls in the office pool.
Avison inked Jack Kirby’s work on the Captain America strip. After Kirby exited, Avison stayed on, splitting pencil/ink duties with Syd Shores. Avison might be most famous, however, for his creation of the yellow, speedster Invader ‘The Whizzer’ (NEVER NOT FUNNY). He also worked on the golden-age Vision and inked Kirby again on Marvel Boy.
Heather’s Uncle took the piece to an event in 1992, where Smiling Stan resigned it fifty years later.
Golden Time Ending 2: “Hanneikyuuteki ni Aishite yo♡ (半永久的に愛してよ♡)” by Yui Horie
“My life’s not endless. I’ll die someday.
Telling me you’ll love me forever won’t make me happy.
For now just focus on loving me until we die.”
I don’t usually make gifs with credits in them but I had to capture these lyrics because they are haunting me now. While making this and taking note of the Snow White reference, I remembered when Koko compared their relationship to Romeo and Juliet and I was like, that’s not really something you want to compare your relationship to…
Also nice to know that the avatar I use is from her saying, “I’ll die someday.” I guess it makes sense since I love her and that’s usually what happens to them.

After much speculation after last week’s episode of “King of Mask Singer,” the identity of the contestant known as Miraculous Golden Time has been revealed!
Golden Time went into Round 2 as the most anticipated contestant, and succesfully beat out the contestant called City Monkey to move on to Round 3. Unfortunately, he lost out to Farinelli with a score of 79 to 20. When his mask came off, the judges were shocked to see that it was none other than Super Junior‘s Ryeowook!
The host told Ryeowook, “Every time a man with a high voice appears on the show, we guess that it’s you. Doesn’t that upset you?” Ryeowook replied, “Not at all. I was thankful because so many good singers came out on the show.” Judge Yoo Young Suk complimented Ryeowook, saying, “You’ve proved wrong the prejudiced notion that idols can’t sing well. Sincerely, thank you for that.”
