gold titanium tony stark

“Iron Man. That’s kind of catchy. It’s got a nice ring to it. I mean it’s not technically accurate. The suit’s a gold titanium alloy, but it’s kind of provocative, the imagery anyway.”

It’s a Gold Titanium Alloy (Part 2-final) (Tony Stark x daughter!reader)

Part 1

Okay, FYI that the characterization of the mom at the end is in NO WAY meant to be rude to anyone else’s mom.  This one is for me.

“Tony!” Steve called out again, still unable to break his way through the door to get to him and watching helplessly as you pulled his unconscious body from his suit.  “JARVIS, can you stop her?”

please talk about the symbolism in iron man 3 for an hour

Ugh sorry for the looooong wait on this reply I was downstairs watching the Golden Globes and starving because my mom had to sit down to see Chris Evans and the dog sat on her and I was like “mom I’m hungRY” and she was like “I CAN’T MOVE THR DOG” anD I’M LIKE CHRIS EVANS IS STARVING ME

Um, okay, anyway, so I’m going to just assume you’ve seen all the Iron Man movies before I dive twelve hundred feet into this.

So basically in Iron Man 3, Tony keeps building suits because he’s so anxious right? Like after New York he’s been terrified that his suits are going to fail and he won’t be able to save Pepper and their relationship. Which is, of course, ironic because the very fact that he’s building all these suits is what’s hurting their relationship.

So these are like, what, 35 [42 - 7] suits based off his fear and anxiety and panic? Suits of armor that shield him from reality? Because that’s what the entire symbolism behind Iron Man is based on, right? Someone weak and susceptible who protects his soft inside by wearing a hard shell? Tony Stark is just a man. He’s flesh and bone, easily breakable. But he’s famous and loved for the cold hard suit he wears. The mask he has on.

Right, now, all the suits being made are a product of fear. They’re paradoxes; meant to preserve but meanwhile are deteriorating what really matters to him.

And that’s why the end is so beautiful. Because he realizes he is the hero. Not some hunk of titanium gold alloy. Tony Stark is the man with superhero ideals. Tony Stark saved New York from the nuclear missile, and LA from Obadiah, and France from Whiplash, and the whole fucking United States from having a terrorist’s left hand down the presidents pocket.
And he ALSO realizes he doesn’t need to save Pepper! That’s she is strong and capable, and just as heroic as he is. Because it’s a person that saves the day, not their armor.

And he is able to realize that the suits have been obstructing him from moving forward. That’s why he blows them up. He’s going to start from scratch. He’s going to build new suits that come from self-confidence. New suits to help others rather than himself. I don’t think Shane Black could have been more blatant with a clean slate metaphor being titled the “CLEAN SLATE PROTOCOL.”

And then he gets the POISON REMOVED FROM HIS BODY. BIG FLASHING PINK NEON SIGN THAT SCREAMS “CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT”.

Now lets talk about Robert Downey Jr. for a second, listen up kids.

When I was in 11th grade we had to do a term paper on someone influential in American History. I of course, chose the national treasure that is Robert Downey Jr.

I did a lot of research on this man. From his pot-smoking-six-year-old days to being the highest paid actor in the world.

And let me tell you a thing.

The day he decided to stop doing drugs, he was eating a Burger King sandwich and he suddenly started having a flip out over his health and he was like “oh my god I’m going to die.”

Mm… eat burger king, have a live altering epiphany that completely changes your character… okay…

AND THEN

AFTER HIS AMERICAN CHEESEBURGER OR WHATEVER

HE DROVE TO COAST AND THREW ALL OF HIS DRUGS IN THE PACIFIC OCEAN.

DID YOU CATCH THAT.

I’LL SAY THAT AGAIN IN CASE YOU MISSED IT.

SOMETHING THAT WAS ASSOCIATED WITH POISON IN HIS BODY? HE. REDEEMED HIMSELF. AND. GOT RID OF IT. BY

T H R O W I N G     I T    I N    T H E     O C E A N

WOah.

ThiS MOVIE FUCKING HITS LIKE 3 LEVELS OF SYMBOLIC INCEPTION DON’T EVEN TALK TO ME ABOUT THIS SHIT

FUCKING BITCHES BEING LIKE “TONY’S STOOPID WHY’D HE BLOW UP ALL HIS SUITS BECAUSE PEPPER DIDN’T LIKE THEM BLEHELFE” NO

it’s nOT ABOUT PEPPER IT’S NOT ABOUT BEING DEFENSELESS IT ABOUT STARTING OVER. IT’S ABOUT KNOWING HE IS IRON MAN WHETHER HE HAS THE SUITS OR NOT.

HE LITERALLY SAYS IT AT THE END OF THE MOVIE.

My armor? It was never a distraction or a hobby. It was a cocoon. And now, I’m a changed man. You can take away my house, all my tricks and toys, but one thing you can’t take away - I am Iron Man.
