(if anyone has a lucifer imagine idea they want me to try, I’ll be happy to)
words: 1223 paring: Lucifer x Reader (F) warning: none
You’re a guardian angle sent to earth (LA) to help humans in need. Once upon a long time ago you and Lucifer had been together, but you haven’t seen him since he was casted out of the Silver City. But a case Lucifer is working on with Chloe leads him directly in your way.
It had been two weeks since you had gotten to earth. Two weeks of helping humans in need. Now you worked as a volunteer to the Cancer Institute. You spent most of your day bringing joy to kids and relief to their worried parents. But in two weeks you also saw one kid die and that alone has been a huge blow. Who knew you’d get attached this fast to the small creatures in that hospital.
Looking up at the white ceiling you sigh loudly. One day at a time, you said to yourself. The same thing you said to yourself ever since the fall. That God awful day. You felt your heartache a little more so you just got up from the bed side of a young girl that had fallen asleep to your singing.
“Hey, Luke, have you seen May anywhere? I think she was supposed to check on Abby this morning, but she hasn’t shown up yet.” You asked one of the nurses.
“I think she went to the lounge to get a cup of coffee. I can go check if you want.”
You looked inside the room and saw Abby asleep.
“It’s no trouble. Can you keep an eye on Abby while I track her down?”
Luke gave you a thumbs up and you took that as your cue to find your first human friend, May.
Walking inside the lounge you found May lying on the ground. Her eyes were open and staring blankly at the wall by your side. There was something wrong with how her neck was, like it had been snapped with great force. Mays’ coffee was on the floor, now just a big stain on the carpet.
You ran to her side and put two fingers in her neck trying to find, by a miracle, a pulse, but you knew that was a foolish attempt. She was long gone. The stain was cold and so was her body.
“Someone call 911!” you yelled out the door with tears in your eyes. How could it be that you had been here for just two weeks and you already lost a friend?
Lucifer was sitting by Chloe’s desk when she came rushing in with a file in her hands. She looked deep in thought and didn’t even recognize the Devil in the room.
“Good day to you too, Detective.” He said getting up from his chair. “What has gotten your full attention this morning? Cause it sure doesn’t seem to be me.”
Chloe looked up from the file for the first time to see Lucifer holding out a cup of coffee for her.
“Hey, thanks. We have to go. A nurse was murdered at the Cancer Institute.” She said walking towards the door with Lucifer right after her.
When they arrived at the Institute something began to bother Lucifer to no end. He seemed to feel observed and on edge. Something that he didn’t like and was not going to tolerate.
“Nurses name was May Winston, 56 year old. She worked here for the last 27 years. Her neck was snapped by someone with considerable strength and she didn’t even see it coming probably. There aren’t any marks to indicate she fought back her assailant.” Ella said as she saw Detective Decker and Lucifer walk in.
“How long ago was this?” Chloe asked.
“I would guess three hours, but I’ll be able to give you a more precise time once I get some tests done.”
“And who found her?” Lucifer asked while kneeing to get a closer look at May’s body. “You know, she’s really… you know… together for her age. Good on her.”
“She’s dead, you know?”
“I know, Detective. At least she’ll look pretty for the funeral.” He said smiling at Chloe.
“You are one weird fella, my friend. But to answer your question, that woman right there was the one to find her.” Ella pointed to the girl sitting alone at the very back of the room.
Lucifer stood up rather slowly. His eyes not believing what he was seeing. Surely he was still drunk from last night. He couldn’t be seeing straight. He didn’t want to believe but there she was, right in front of him. The long (y-h-c) hair falling in waves framing her face, her (y-s-c) flawless skin and deep (y-e-c) eyes hadn’t changed at all since his falling. How could it be that she was here now? Why was she here?
Chloe was walking towards her when Lucifer steeped right in front of her. He wasn’t sure if she was a danger to Chloe, he wasn’t sure if she was a danger to him. So he wasn’t taking chances.
“Hey… wait a minute, missy!” he said making the detective frown looking up at him. “Give me a minute before you step in, okay? I just need to check something.”
Chloe was about to protest when Lucifer turned her around and pushed her towards Ella. He turned and just as he looked at her, (y-n) eyes met his. Your posture changed from sad and lonely to aware and scared. This was not how you wanted things to go down. This was not how you imagined, ‘cause well… You tried not to imagine anything.
“Long time no see, huh? (y-n) What are you doing here? What do you want?” he asked confused.
“Hey… I was sent to earth a couple of weeks back. I’m a joy bringer, guardian angel or whatever you wanna call. I’m basically here to stay so if you want to punish me or something you can save it.”
“So you’re not here to kick me back to hell?”
“I don’t think I’m even supposed to be near you. I’m not here for you, I’m here for the humans.”
Lucifer looked around and saw the Detective looking weirdly in your direction. He didn’t have time to question you on what he wanted.
“Looks like you’re doing one hell of a job, huh?” he pointed to May’s body. Your face went back to sad in a second. “Well this wasn’t the reaction I imagined I’d get. So what happened here?”
You looked at him trying to figure out why he was interested in your friends’ death. “Why do you want to know?”
“Let’s just say that now I work for the Police Department of Los Angeles. I punish the living. Am I going to be punishing you?” He actually seemed worried. You’re the one person he didn’t think he was able to punish. No matter what you did. Or had already done.
“Is that your way of asking if I’m responsible for this? Did you not get the Joy Bringing part? She was my only friend here. I came looking for her and found her like this.”
Lucifer didn’t even register what you said. He focused on your eyes and your lips. The pain he felt now was just like falling all over again. How much time has passed? Too much and you were still the most mesmerizing thing he’d ever seen. Somehow he wanted to still be near you and hear you talk, but he knew he shouldn’t. I mean, don’t get me wrong, right. He remembers that day. The fall. You were nowhere to be found. You left him to fall by himself. You of all angels.
