Has Template ever been to the Omega Timeline and met Gradient? And do you think the two would be friends? Because it seems as if they would at least have some sort of mutual understanding of each other if not anything more.
I get what you mean when you say they they’d understand each other, but the fact that Gradient is a combo of Ink and Error just majorly confuses Template. He’s really trying to be nice but just looking at Gradient makes him nervous. Also watching Gradient delete his drawings all the time would probably drive him completely crazy.
(Not that Gradient isn’t used to reactions like this, uhm, at least I think he is?)
You are the books you read, the films you watch, the music you listen to, the people you meet, the dreams you have, the conversations you engage in. You are what you take from these. You are the sound of the ocean, the breath of fresh air, the brightest light and the darkest corner.
You are a collective of every experience you have had in your life. You are every single second of every single day. So drown yourself in a sea of knowledge and existence. Let the words run through your veins and let the colors fill your mind until there is nothing left to do but explode. There are no wrong answers. Inspiration is everything. Sit back, relax, and take it all in.
Now, go out and create something.
Yuri on Ice interview translation - CREA 2017/03 (p32-33)
This is the full interview with Mitsurou Kubo published on CREA. I actually wanted to translate all the YOI interviews together but some translations going around urged me to post this one before the others, as I wouldn’t be able to finish everything tonight.
It’s not really an interview, it’s more like a partial interview and a short commentary of each episode.
The other 4 short interviews are with Kenji Miyamoto (choreographer), Eiji Abiko & Junpei Tatenaka (figure skating animators), Yuuko Sagiri (original costume designer), Keisuke Tominaga (music producer). I will try to post them tomorrow night if I can finish them.
***If you wish to share this translation please do it by reblogging or posting a link to it*** ***Re-translating into other languages is ok but please mention that this post is the source***
The reality as expressed by 5 people who created “Yuri on Ice”
Reality #1: Story x Mitsurou Kubo
“The reality of emotions” is what Kubo-san gave most importance to when she created the manga storyboard for this series. “Simply listing up the contents of the skaters’ programs and their score and connecting them together is not going to create something emotional. In my storyboard I tried to convey the feelings of all athletes, not just Yuuri, with their performances, to express them carefully, so that other skaters who watch them will in turn be influenced by them like in a chain reaction.” An important tool to express those feelings are the monologues that can be heard during the programs, blended in harmony with the performance. “Watching the footage of the choreographies by Kenji Miyamoto-sensei I realized that, even though he simply created them based on the songs, in many cases they perfectly match the athlete’s feelings too. I was so moved and thought that Kenji-sensei is an amazing person.” As the series is pursuing reality, it does not contain any unrealistic techniques. “If we had included something over-the-top people would have just said ‘that’s unreal’, so I thought that it was better to just go a little ahead of reality, and consulted with many people to decide the difficulty of the techniques to use. However, shortly thereafter real life skaters actually surpassed that level, which really surprised me. We did decide the level knowing that it would be surpassed one day, but we didn’t think it would happen so soon!” The writer Mitsurou Kubo also needed a lot of courage to portray Yuuri determined to win for love. “On the ice rink you can express anything, and that’s why, even if I had never thought about what true love is or represented it before, I decided to try my hand at openly depicting love as fiction. As a result, I myself was encouraged by the story I wrote and felt that I could make a fresh start after that.”
“I ended up being encouraged by the story about love that I openly portrayed as fiction.”
Highlights of every episode by Mitsurou Kubo
#1 Nan no Piroshiki!! Namida no Grand Prix Final “I want you to watch the best figure skating animation” Before the series was broadcasted I was worried, because normally original anime not based on a previous work and airing late at night take a long time to catch the viewers’ attention. However, my fear was swept away by the extraordinary skating scenes of the first episode, and the show gained a good reputation right away. Stunning images can provide the best promotion.
#2 Futari no Yuri!? Yutopia no Ran “Figure skaters feeling more familiar” This part is set during the off-season in Yuuri’s hometown. If we had showed special people battling each other in a faraway place from the very start the viewers would never have felt close to them, therefore I decided to start the story with the Russians, Victor and Yurio, spending time in the onsen of the castle town Hasetsu, eating katsudon and spreading news via the SNS, so that they would feel more familiar to the audience.
#3 Boku ga Eros de Eros ga Boku de!? Taiketsu! Onsen on ICE “You can feel the growth of Yuuri and Yurio” Once the Grand Prix series starts no one can afford to lose anymore, so I created this provisional match between Yuuri and Yurio to emphasize their relationship as rivals but also as comrades. I also wanted to show that a competitive program is progressively brushed up during the season based on each athlete’s pace. Originally I also thought of showing Yurio’s mother rushing to the scene.
#4 Jibun wo Suki ni Natte… Kansei!! Free Program “Yuuri and Victor gradually become closer” In the process of completing the free skating program Yuuri and Victor become closer to each other, both as coach and student and as equals. Yuuri’s gesture of poking the top of Victor’s head has no logical meaning. I think it symbolizes how Yuuri, acting on an impulse, breaks his own shell and steps into the territory of the person that previously was only considered a living legend.
#5 Kao Makka!! Shosen Da yo! Chuu-shikoku-kyuushuu Senshuken Taikai “Check out the relationship between seniors and juniors” Minami-kun, a skater that looks up to Yuuri, appears in this episode. I really like the scene where Yuuri, finally becoming aware that he is going to lead the current generation of Japanese skaters, silently hits Minami-kun’s back. As in the scene where he pokes Victor’s head, once again Yuuri uses a physical action, instead of logic or words, to try to communicate something. When it’s animated it looks really awesome.
#6 Kaimaku Grand Prix Series Yacchaina!! Chuugoku Taikai SP “Check out Chris’ sexiness” The tournament starts and many fascinating athletes make their appearances, but this episode is also an occasion to fully enjoy the charm of Chris’ ass. After watching Kenji-sensei’s choreography I decided to draw a beautiful ass in my storyboard, then its charm was further emphasized in the animation, and finally thanks to the voice actor’s absolutely sexy voice we could obtain the best ass animation ever.
#7 Kaimaku Grand Prix Series Yacchaina!! Chuugoku Taikai FS “An FSP where Yuuri and Victor overcome their fears” Yuuri and Victor were both anxious before the FS, and I feel that the strongly emotional scenes following that were represented in a very effective way. Regarding the last scene, I started receiving lots of questions from overseas, asking “Did Yuuri and Victor hug? Or was it a kiss?” and that’s when I realized how much the anime’s popularity had spread worldwide.
#8 Yuuri VS Yuri Osoroshia!! Russia Taikai SP “JJ’s striking appearance is a must see” This episode is where Jean-Jacques Leroy, aka JJ, one of the most likely candidates to win the gold medal, appears. What is scary about JJ is that he has the ability to paint any story in JJ color, overshadowing even the protagonist. Mamoru Miyano-san, the one who played his role, managed to take JJ to the next level with his natural personality and made him all the more convincing.
#9 Yuuri VS Yuri Osoroshia!! Russia Taikai FS “When the absence of an important person makes you grow” This episode is where Yuuri grows after fighting without Victor next to him. When we went location hunting at the Fukuoka airport there was a glassed-in corridor close to the arrival lobby, and as the director saw it she excitedly said “Yuuri and Victor are going to run side by side separated by the glass!”. I was like “they definitely are!”, and we started taking heaps of pictures. The airport is currently being remodeled and it’s not possible to recreate the scene.
#10 Chou Ganbaranba! Grand Prix Final Chokuzen Special “Ordinary life episode the night before the last fight” As the last part depicting ordinary life before the Grand Prix Final, I wanted to create a relaxing episode without skating scenes while at the same time introducing the athletes, but in the end so many things happened in it that no one could relax and I was told that even animating it was a pain. The ring Yuuri gave Victor also carries the meaning of a symbol that the two of them are like soul mates.
#11 Chou Chou Ganbaranba!! Grand Prix Final SP “The speed leading to the last episode is impressive to watch” The OP footage, that was gradually changed from episode 1 by adding colors, is finally complete. I was happy that we could welcome as voice actors Ken Gamada-san, who actually works as an MC in tournaments and ice shows, and Nobunari Oda-san as himself doing the commentary. With the pace of the story speeding up toward the finale, this episode was just chaos.
#12 Chou Chou Chou Ganbaranba!!! Grand Prix Final FS “A final episode where you can catch a glimpse of everyone’s future” Including Stéphane Lambiel-san’s debut as an anime seiyuu, which is something no one could have expected, the chaotic mixup of anime and reality reaches a climax in this episode. Beside the sense of fulfillment for the victory, I think that the contents also let you catch a glimpse of each character’s future. I was about to faint looking at the beauty of Victor’s tears.
Final note (this is just my opinion, it’s not part of the translation): There is a translation going around where the line about soul mates is translated as “proof”, but actually the word 証 (akashi) can have many different meanings, among which symbol/mark/token/proof/sign etc. In this case, I personally do not think it means “proof” (also to be honest when it’s “proof” usually they write it as 証拠 shouko). It’s more like symbol/token, as in “it’s meant to symbolize Yuuri and Victor’s deep bond that goes beyond a normal relationship”. Although the difference is only subtle, I still think it’s not the same. Also please understand that the Japanese word “soul mate” does not have the meaning that is used in fanfiction… I believe it’s actually the same in English too, but in normal conversation it means “two people that have a strong spiritual/emotional bond (that makes them suited for each other, be it either as friends or lovers)”, not “two people who were destined to be together from their previous life”. That is something you are free to imagine or fantasize about, however please do not twist the creators’ words just to fit people’s headcanons…
P.S.: And please do not misunderstand me. I love Victuuri, but I prefer to draw a line between canon and fanon, and I don’t really like it when words by the creators are “adapted” to accomodate people’s shipping ideas. I think what she says is deep enough even without mistranslating it anyway…
yknow, an interesting thing for the mcelroys to do could be, when making new merch, commissioning a few different artists to do unique designs - so you get a bit more diversity and individuality in the format and content, y’know?
Here is the text, with my first thought comments in bold:
I was going to draw this out longer but the truth is, I’m
There is no Lost Special. There never was, and there never
And you know this
Once again, in their need to keep this midnight train going,
TJLC fans created something out of nothing.
Even if that is that
case, why do you care?
Seeing this obsession with “The Lost Special,” even though
series 4 was clearly over, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to run a
sociological experiment with a vicious fandom in denial.
Steven brought it up,
not us. Also, even if the series is
over, that doesn’t mean it’s over. They’ve
repeatedly said they have through series 5 mapped out. It was only in December
2016 they started hinting at “we don’t know, this could be it.” Sure Jan.
My poorly assembled website took not more than twenty
minutes to cobble together (as some people rightly pointed out) and very little
effort to maintain.
This is a lie.
“By the pricking of my thumbs (something wicked this way
comes)”- I edited an ominous message into the code and title, referencing the
Macbeth quote used in The Six Thatchers. It was strange to see how many people
didn’t recognise the “pricking” quote and even criticised the website because
it allegedly didn’t call back to Sherlock in any way- except that I was
directly quoting a series 4 episode.
Except most of us did
recognize this? What about your dancing
man code reference to Unto the Breach?
Watching fans defend how shoddy the website is, in their
need for thelostspecial to be real was especially funny. It was also funny to
see the people who guessed the website was fake and said as much, but didn’t
even care because they desperately needed something to hold onto, with Sherlock
Whichever, why do you
care? Why would it be funny to you?
Then there’s the people who clocked that thelostspecial.com
wasn’t “real”… and yet never question their own dedication to TJLC and/or the
existence of a fourth episode of series 4, concepts entirely created by Tumblr.
The lost special site
was only one of hundreds of indications something is fucky.
Anyhow. Next, I threw a random bunch of numbers and photos
out there to see how people would scramble and react, and you didn’t let me
down. Mostly I chose the first photo I found of a character that I liked the
look of, in Google; there wasn’t real logic. I re-used some images out of
laziness. I used an online generator to make the Dancing Men/Henry V code post.
So the meanings we
found in everything, tying it somehow back to Sherlock, or ACD canon, or anything
else were all coincidences?
What do we say about
40, 27, kra, the various “hints” you think you found on the
website and found countless possible meanings of, they were chosen at random.
Even the elephant photo was chosen at random. It wasn’t until after I edited it
into the main website photo that I discovered the poor thing was named Mary and
had been shot and executed for killing a man (on 9.13.16. Everyone overthought that
one too much.) So I used that info
because it was serendipitous. “The universe is rarely so lazy?” Friends, the
universe is often lazy.
“They were chosen at

When I added a black image with five pixels of colour to the
website, you did not let me down. People played with the image until they
became convinced it was QR code spelling something out. It was just five
meaningless pixels of nothing, created in MS Paint.
Yet you did the whole
thing in 20 minutes.
The static gif was taken from a YouTube video of TV static
from some movie, with an old Moriarty close-up thrown in.
We know, 28 days
later. With Moriarty loaded in. Again, whole thing in 20 minutes.
The photo of John and Sherlock sitting in the watery 221B, I
got it from Farfarawaysite.com, and scaled it down a little because the photo
was large. That’s it. I didn’t change the proportions in any way, or alter the
colours, or add anything to the photo. Anything you saw in it, you imagined. I
left the big black header on the website as a hint to keep your eye on those,
since the thing I changed on 2/11 was in the similar Twitter header.
”That’s it. I didn’t
change the proportions in any way, or alter the colours, or add anything to the
photo. Anything you saw in it, you imagined.”
I changed the plain black header of the Twitter to a black
one with a word embedded in it. The profile photo was changed to a plain black
photo with XX hidden in it. No one bothered checking it, though clearly the
account was active again, so I changed the profile photo to show the Xs, as a
hint to look deeper. Finally people found the “clue” today, not that it
matters. The word spelled out there is another blind alley that leads nowhere.
Then accept all our

For people wondering, wow, why would anyone take so much
time to do this? Well, I didn’t. Creating the plain black squares with a few
letters, throwing a message into the source coding, and uploading the new website photo of John
and Sherlock took maybe 5 minutes. Creating a side blog with no posts and
keeping it private takes one minute.
photoshopping you DID do as established would have taken more. Even searching for the first image you found
would have taken time.
Overall, it takes less than twenty minutes a week to do
this, once it was set up, because really? You do all the work for me. You all
did what TJLCers do best- you took a bunch of random data, inflated it into
something much more complicated than it really was, and created your own
narrative out of it. Even knowing it might be nothing, and was probably just a
fan-made site, you’ve still allowed yourselves to get worked up over it and
allowed yourselves to hope. You’re reading into nonsense and finding clues
where there are none, and naturally most of those “clues” pointed exactly where
you wanted them to point to. Confirmation bias at its finest.
Well all I get from
this is that we’re smarter than you are.
Learn from this.
Stop falling into conspiracies. Trust yourself when you can
see that something isn’t real or likely. Alternately, find something that
doesn’t make you feel sad or heartbroken.
Seriously? “Trust yourself when you can see that
something isn’t real or likely.”
Instincts are to be
Also, my instincts
have gotten me into a pretty good place.
I’ll keep trusting them, thanks, and they tell me something is

I was somewhat entertained by the several dozen times people

worry, I didn’t. I don’t care that much.)’

I’m positive they’re fan accounts. (If you think BBC-sanctioned accounts would
post like that, I have a bridge to sell you.)
As for my twitter, I set up the thelostspecial twitter account, followed
some BBC-related accounts and left it alone for a week while TJLC fans went
wild trying to suss out who I was following. That’s all I did with it.
Then accept my follow
request. Seriously, YOU’RE SO CLEVER I
need to follow you to learn your secrets.
I didn’t start thelostspecial Instagram account. Someone
else did that, I don’t know who.
Nobody asked. Actually, I didn’t even know there was an

And if you enjoyed hunting, try a legitimate online riddle

that? Then why put it in there? Why, John?
Sherlock Series 4 is over. This is the end.
Thanks for playing TheLostSpecial! Goodbye and God bless.
After you were akumatized, people began to cosplay as the Colormancer in conventions. Alya and Marinette selected the best ones, and after a competition, this was the winner. You could see the person had made some artistic changes to the outfit, but you had to admit they had outdone themselves making an outfit about the exact moment the Colormancer absorbed the colors from something or someone.
This is worth watching if you’re an artist because you can decide, as imperfect your work is it’s yours, you used your time, put your personal thought to it and you decide the rules, If you don’t like something then just go and create something you like instead, why do you need it to be canon? You just need that something to exist so you can like it and you can make that happen, just create and share it if you work on your own stuff and create, and equivocate and emote someone, that’s the greater gift and if it comes with money, the merrier ;) So, This sums my thoughts exactly. I’m glad that guy (who’s name I’ve no clue) asked about it, thanks man!
Fic prompt because I LOVE your work!!! Fitz with Ophelia "I'll never stop fighting you!" I
You’re so sweet, thank you! I should have spent longer on this (I’m gonna reread it and cringe later), but I wanted to get it in under the wire before canon blows it to shreds haha! [tw: obv ophelia features in this, dealing with feelings because of non-con, but they don’t have a ‘relationship’]
He doesn’t fight. When she lands them in a desert and lets go, he barely has the strength to lean over before throwing up.
“Oh, Leopold,” she says, concern etched into her features. “I’m so sorry. You’ll get used to the teleportation.”
As if an unexpected dematerializing is even on the radar of things to churn his stomach. He has been split wide open, the core of him exposed for everyone to see. He has flaws, so many of them, and before he might have listed them dispassionately: temper, loyalty to the point of blindness, jealousy, arrogance, a false bravado when he secretly feels like a coward. Years ago, he remembers thinking: Jemma knows my flaws and she loves me anyway. I’m not a bad person.
But now the protective film has been stripped away and he’s seeing clearly for the first time; this darkness has always been there. He is a bad person. He’s an evil person, and he has hurt people. His brain spins with images of his friends and his victims. In another reality, he had yelled at Mace for sending Jemma away without warning, but the punishment for that was not supposed to be death.
“You mean nothing to me,” he had told the woman he’d wanted to marry, and he would have killed her. His hand shakes, as if still straining with the weight of the gun. Fitz falls to the ground, rocks biting into his knees. He can’t remember how to breathe.
“It gets easier with time,” Ophelia says, attempting to run a comforting hand along his arm. He turns his face from her and retches again.
He doesn’t fight because he doesn’t have the strength and deep down he knows he deserves this punishment anyway. Perhaps he is doomed to wander through the desert with her for forty years; he hopes they both die before reaching her promised land.
“I understand what you’re going through,” she tells him. “And I’m going to help you, because you were the only one to treat me with compassion when I was a slave.”
“Don’t you regret anything you’ve done?” he asks. It’s the only thing he’s said in hours. For a moment, he’s not sure he’s even spoken aloud.
Ophelia gazes at him searchingly and then frowns, as if working through her own emotions. “No,” she finally replies. “I have learned so much, Leopold. I fixed a single regret for each of you, to make you happy. And everyone simply created new regrets.”
He wants to tell her that she rewrote his entire life. He wants to tell her that she took away all of his choices, that he loves his mother and would never have traded her for a lifetime with an abusive father. I wanted a father who loved me and supported me and stayed, he thinks, surely you knew this isn’t what I meant.
But he doesn’t argue with her because this, like everything, is his fault. You don’t put wishes out into the universe without carefully considering the consequences—he of all people should have known that.
“Humans don’t understand what’s best for them,” she says. “This is what I’ve learned. All this capacity for feeling, for free will, and they waste it. We’re going to create something better. We’re going to help people, and we’re going to be so happy.”
He marvels at how genuinely delighted she appears. Maybe she stole his soul to become a real person because he can’t even remember what happiness feels like. He thinks of Jemma, but all of his good memories are tainted by the acrid smell of gunpowder and the words he’ll never be able to take back.
“It’s time to go,” Ophelia says, grabbing his arm to disappear him again. He shudders at her touch, but he doesn’t fight. He doesn’t know how.
He sits in an abandoned house, head in his hands, and breathes through another panic attack. Ophelia, it seems, is growing impatient with his weakness.
“I need your help,” she says. “For our plan. And if you’d just let me, I can make all this pain go away.”
But he needs the pain, because it’s there to remind him that this world is real. He cries when he thinks of Jemma, but he needs to replay her words over and over so that he never forgets what he’s done and why he’s here. He has lost faith in everything, but he offers up silent prayers anyway: keep her safe. Keep them all safe, and I will stay here with Ophelia and I will not fight. No one could accuse him of not accepting his prison sentence.
Ophelia’s plan doesn’t make much sense to him, although perhaps that is because nothing makes sense to him at the moment. Or perhaps she doesn’t fully trust him so she’s only letting him in on part of it.
He has so little strength, but he holds her back in small ways. He sabotages where he can. Sometimes he hears Jemma’s voice in his head, guiding his actions. Sometimes he even sees her, but she never lays a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“It’s okay,” he tells this imaginary Jemma. “I understand.”
“Is this how you felt?” Ophelia asks, kneeling next to him. She has procured a bed for them to share, but he spends every night curled up in the corner of the living room, the stiff wood of the floor burning his joints. “Is this how it felt when she chose someone else? Do you know how much you’re hurting me?”
No, he thinks, of course this is not how it felt. With Jemma, his heart had shattered into a fine dust. With Jemma, he had seen her videos and known she loved him, maybe even loved him the most, and that made it hurt more. But with Jemma, he had thought her happiness could be enough to save them both.
Now, he and Ophelia are locked in a sick dance and when he falls, he will pull her down with him. He will sacrifice himself to stop her, and his anger and disgust and self-hatred will be enough to save the world.
Even though it is not a new realization, Ignis Scientia is aware he may be a bit too uptight and rather cold as a boyfriend to Gladiolus Amicitia.
His feelings are all true, yet he is aware he may not show it as much as he could or should. While Gladiolus does not mind and understands that’s just his way of being, Ignis has not yet stopped thinking about Gladiolus’ sweet poem, and feels a bit in debt: Gladio, in his strange, sometimes childish but always sincere and honest way, loves and appreciates him, and Ignis feels he hasn’t shown himself thankful enough.
Grateful for all those 69 attempts of flirting (…or at least some of them) and a poem, and those wonderful 5 years of relationship so far, and wanting to do something special for Gladio, Ignis has been drabbling down poem ideas in secret.
Decided to have an ultimate weapon after 39 attempts of a pick-up line, having cleaned the poem and memorized it, Ignis has come to be prepared, and awaits for an appropiate moment.
