I am asked what inspires me quite often on Instagram (@nataliaperis), so I thought I could make a proper post about it.
First of all, I must say I also go through periods of time when I am unable of creating anything, when I feel utterly uninspired and when I just happen to hate anything I make. But those moments always come to an end: it’s a phase, so it’s temporary. If you ever feel like that, remind yourself inspiration will come back and you will feel an urge to create again!
Apart from that, I also want to say that I, just like you, also dislike what I create sometimes. Or most of times. I dislike it, I think it’s not good enough, I think it’s silly, etc. But we have to believe in ourselves. Art, for me, is a way to express my feelings and memories. Feelings and memories can be ugly, beautiful or anything in between, but they can also be nothing at all. It’s up to you. If you start creating, you will probably make more things you don’t like than things you actually like, but the key, the most important thing that we need to keep telling ourselves is “do not be afraid to fail”.
After the cut, you can find a list of what I find inspiring or helpful with creativity blocks. I hope it’s useful :-)
