gmo labeling initiatives

The main reason why I'm worried about GMOs or just mainly Monsanto itself is that they don't want to label their GMO products. Would you happen to know why? It scares me that they're basically trying to give us no choice.

There is a really great article on GMO labelling initiatives you should read:

Why The ‘Non-GMO’ Label Is Organic’s Frenemy

These consumer labelling initiatives of GMOs facilitate a phenomenon known as “greenwashing.”

Both insulin and the contents of HPV vaccines are genetically engineered, but there isn’t so much hysteria surrounding labelling them.

But basically, most organic associations and labels (like certified organic) will not allow the use of GM crops; so, if you buy organic, you are buying GM-free already.

Monsanto fought against GM-labelling because consumers have a poor understanding of GMOs, and think they impact human health: this would impact their sales.

All this “GMOs give you tumours” woo distracts from the real environmental problems in industrial agribusiness. Odds are if you live somewhere like the States, you have been eating GM crops in some form or another for over a decade.
