How did you paint little stars on your nails? Also your dog is cute.

aw, thanks. he is a button!

HOW TO STARNAIL:

take a star-shaped (or other) hole puncher from michaels and cut out ten nails’ worth of the design you want on a sheet of laminating film. the kind with the 1 inch grid printed on it is awesome because you can space them out.

cut the film into two strips of five, then cut those strips between the designs, leaving a fringe of five designs that you can pull apart without scissors.

make sure your base polish is dry as a bone so the laminating film won’t pull it up in globs! i put a topcoat on mine to speed this up, and check it by licking >:D

set one piece of laminating film over each nail and press firmly to make sure the stencil is stuck fully down

dab a thick polish over the stencil designs. don’t goop it on too thick or stir it around or you’ll get bubbles. you can pop them with a toothpick or pin if you act fast.

peel the laminating film off by lifting it  straight up from the nail to remove the stencil without glopping more polish around. it takes a bit of practice to do this right, but you can always make more stencils and if you’re fast you can dab off the failstar and re-apply without redoing the whole nail. if you accidentally mess up part of the shape, you can use a toothpick or pin to drag it back where it belongs while it’s still wet. it doesn’t have to be perfect! no one will be looking as close as you are now.

let the designs dry completely.

if you want a grungy look like i was doing, dab some of the polish you made the stencil design with on a cosmetic sponge or spouncer and lighly dab around the design

apply topcoat and let your nails dry.

RULE.
