(AU in which Deanna is still alive)
Continuation of this
“Okay, Beth, so your mom went to go help Deanna with stuff about the community, so it’s just you and me today, okay?”
“Okay Daddy,” Beth said, lifting her hand up.
Glenn reached down and held onto her little hand. “What do you want to do today?”
“Can we visit Carl?” The eager four-year-old asked.
Glenn chuckled. “Yeah, we can visit Carl.” He had no idea why Beth was so infatuated with Carl, but nonetheless, it always made him laugh. Carl too found it incredibly amusing that a four-year-old was always following him around everywhere.
“Do my hair?” Beth asked, pulling on her long, dark strands.
Glenn furrowed his brow. “I’m not really that great with doing hair…”
“Do it like Mommy does,” Beth said, pulling two little green bows out of her dress pocket.
“Um…” Glenn always noticed how Maggie would do Beth’s hair in pretty braids, but he had no idea how to do it himself. “Okay.” He twisted her hair in two different sections, trying to copy how Maggie would normally do it. Unfortunately, he was failing miserably. “Mom makes this look easy,” he mumbled.
“It’s okay, just do your best.”
Glenn smiled at his daughter’s support. He decided to scrap the braids all together and try a different look. He took the two sections of hair and made them into two messy little buns just like his sisters used to wear when he was little. It didn’t look perfect, but hey, he tried.
“Okay Beth, how’s this?” Glenn lifted her up to the mirror.
Beth studied herself in the mirror for a good minute before turning back to him. “Looks good,” she confirmed, and grabbed ahold of Glenn’s hand once again. “Let’s show Carl! I hope he likes it.”
Glenn laughed and let Beth drag him out the door. “I’m sure he’ll love it.”
