ginji sasaki

bobosmith01  asked:

Got any particular people in mind who would have had palaces in past Persona games?

Takahisa Kandori,

Ginji Sasaki,

Tatsuya Sudou

Maya “Ms Ideal” Okamura

Shuji Ikutsuki,

Mitsuo Kubo,

perhaps Taro Namatame

Tohru Adachi (who pretty much had one anyway.)

Those are all people with distorted perceptions of reality that come to my mind if I try to think of some.

Persona 4, 5 & and submit your choices to me!

Okay with these last two I’m out of currently drawn characters but that just means the poll will follow!

Yu Narukami | Persona 4

Probably my favorite of the bunch, Yu came out well, just enough of a smirk and Izanagi looks great as always.

Protagonist | Persona 5

I love the protag and the shit-eating grin but damn did Arsène give me some problems! If I have time once this is all over I’ll go back on him, I don’t feel quite satisfied yet. He still looks badass tho, what a damn good persona design.

And now for the list! Remember to pm me with your choices or reply to this post with who you want. Everyone will be done eventually (including the little characters) but I’d rather start with what people want to see! And if I missed someone, let me know! The full list is below this cut!

Persona 2 character design guide:

As a companion guide to my P2 Persona guides:

http://artemis-maia.tumblr.com/post/94664498058/this-is-just-a-p2-is-persona-design-guide-ep-will

http://artemis-maia.tumblr.com/post/94942075683/here-comes-the-second-part-of-the-p2-design-guide

So here are the people who influenced or possibly influenced the P2 characters (I also added three Be Your True Mind characters with Brown, Yuka and Yukino two of them did return after all).

Maya Amano – Miho Nakayama
They look very similar (in fact the right picture of her looks exactly like Maya in the EP opening) and Nakayama is a classic beautiful Japanese woman who acts, is a model, sings etc. Maya was certainly influenced by women like her.

Lisa Silverman – Olivia Lufkin
Since Muses are basically like D&D Lisa was probably influenced by Olivia especially since Olivia is half-american. In this picture Olivia has a similar hair style to Lisa and she was also the main vocalist.

Eriko Kirishima – Sayoko Yamaguchi
This is pretty much confirmed since Sayoko was also a model (one of the first asian models to be featured in top fashion shows) and has exactly the same face and hair style.

Eikichi Mishina – Visual Kei style in general

Ginji Sasaki- Tetsuya Komuro
Same backstory (one hit wonder who became a manager). Komuro also managed hitomi who sang the IS ending song and also worked with Olivia Lufkin.

Daisuke Todoroki – Akira Nakao
Nakao not only looks like Todoroki. He also played Kosuke Kindaichi (famous fictional Japanese detective created by Seishi Yokomizo, also mentioned in Meitantei Conan) in the movie Death at an Old Mansion (Honjin satsujin jike).

Tamaki Uchida – Yuki Uchida
Same hair style, face and last name. Tadashi also liked her a lot so Tamaki was designed after her.

Steven Silverman – Steven Seagal
Also obvious. Seagal also lived in Japan for years.

Chikalin – Tomoe Shinohara
Tomoe is known for her flamboyant fashion sense and she is an actress and fashion designer. She is said to be a goofball.

Baofu – Ozzy
When I saw Baofu for the first time and saw the hair style and shades I immediately thought of Ozzy.

Brown – Tsunku
Tsunku is a song writer and producer and Brown kinda resembles him.

Yuka Ayase – Gyaru /Kogals in general
Since Amuro Namie promoted the style I included her in the picture. Namie also became pregnant with 20 years and is said to have “increased the amount of shot gun weddings” in Japan. This explains why Yuka is absent in P2 and why she became a houswife (and probably pregnant quite quickly).

Yukino Mayuzumi - yanki
Yukino was a former yanki (delinquent youth). I chose a picture of the yanki Ichiko/Ichigo played by Tsuchiya Anna in Shimotsuma Monogatari (one of my favorite movies, I laughed so hard XD)

Shadow Selves

“Unfortunately there can be no doubt that man is, on the whole, less good than he imagines himself or wants to be. Everyone carries a shadow, and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. If an inferiority is conscious, one always has a chance to correct it. Furthermore, it is constantly in contact with other interests, so that it is continually subjected to modifications. But if it is repressed and isolated from consciousness, it never gets corrected.”
- C. G. Jung (Psychology and Religion)

I kinda wanted to brainstorm about the Shadows in Persona 2, Persona 3, Persona 4 and Persona 4 Arena/Ultimax:

~The depiction of the media in P2 and P2 as a time capsule

One of the reasons why P2 is my favorite MegaTen title is how it uses the media. Not only does it make fun of stupid rumors, in EP you as Maya are a part of the media yourself.
P2 is also like a time capsule of the 90s to me regarding all these celebrity references.

SPOILER WARNING for IS and EP:

Small interpretation of the roles of the silent MCs in the Persona series and why these characters were chosen to be silent:

In Persona the MC/Boy with Earring is merely just a supporter for Maki who the story actually is about. This is especially emphasized in the ending and with Maki’s appearance in P2 since it shows how she overcame her problems also thanks to the MC. His decision making in the game and protector role could be interpreted to be influenced by his Persona Seimen Kongou.

In Tsumi Tatsuya’s Shadow points out that Tatsuya is main stream, always does what other people tell him to do etc.thus you making decisions for him is actually kinda ironic. It also turns out that Tatsuya was never the leader of the original Masked Circle, it was actually Jun. Both Jun and Maya are actually way better leader types than Tatsuya in the game and technically the game is about Maya (due to the Oracle of Maia) and even more about Jun than about Tatsuya.

In Batsu Tatsuya now has a voice. Maya is now silent and the switch of their roles basically was when they met each other at the station. Maya is silent due to the dualism between Tsumi and Batsu and due the dualism between her and Tatsuya. Batsu is actually about Tatsuya due to him influencing every plot point and showing him maturing. Maya is actually supposed to be in the dark at first and what is going on. It’s also Tatsuya who has to retell what happened on the Other Side thus there is no way they could have left Tatsuya silent. Interestingly Ginji Sasaki at his mini cult also steals Maya’s motto. Maya’s personality is still the same, however the voice was given to Tatsuya this time.

It’s kinda remarkable how Tsumi which is about teens centers on the adult (Maya) while Batsu which is about adults centers on a teen on the verge of adulthood (Tatsuya).

Persona 3 and Persona 4 both follow the Fool’s Journey from Tarot. They are definitely self insert games since the MC are the center of the stories, the new guys etc. You are also immediately the team leader basically.
