Vegan Chickpea Curry

Ingredients:

  • 1 yellow onion minced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 ½ tbsp Garam masala
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 yellow bell pepper 
  • 7 mushrooms sliced
  • 1 cup cauliflower
  • 2 cups chickpeas cooked
  • ½ cup spinach
  • 3 tbsp red curry paste
  • 1 can coconutmilk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable broth powder
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • ½ tsp cumin
Directions:
  1. Cook rice with 2 cups of water. In the meantime mince, dice and slice the veggies. Heat a deep pan with some oil of your choice and cook the onions and garlic until fragrant. Add ginger, red paste and mix together. Add pepper, mushrooms, cauliflower and chickpeas to the pan and cook for about 5 minutes on medium heat.
  2. Add water, broth powder, curry powder, garam masala, and cumin to the pan and let it cook with the lid on for 10 minutes.
  3. After 10 minutes add the coconutmilk and spinach. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes. Take the cooked rice off the stove and serve some in bowl. 
  4. Serve the rice with the curry and enjoy!

To Awaken Latent Magical Abilities

Supplies Needed:

-          One boiling crucible

-          Source of fire

-          Wooden Spoon

-          Mortar & Pestle

-          Vial or other container for storing the potion

-          Wand (your hand will suffice if you lack a wand.)

-          Sieve – for straining the liquid.

Ingredients Needed:

-          One pint purified water

-          2 fresh lemons

-          Honey

-          Handful of fresh mint

-          An orange peel

-          1 small piece of fresh ginger root

-          Three coffee beans

-          One sage leaf

Most opportune time for conjuring: Monday during a Full Moon, although any time is the time for magic.

Prepare for brewing as you would for any magical working. Cleanse the space and yourself as you see fit. You may wish to illuminate the workspace by candlelight. If incense is desired, sweeten the air by burning a mixture of frankincense, cedar, dragon’s blood, or any other fragrance that pleases you.

INSTRUCTIONS

1.        Bring the pint of water to a boil, then reduce the heat and allow it to simmer.

2.       Squeeze the juice from the lemons and contribute to the water.

3.       Add 1 tablespoon of honey.

Bring to a boil again and stir clockwise, making sure all three are combined as one. Concentrate on your goal while stirring.

4.      Add the handful of fresh mint leaves, which should first be washed to remove any excess dirt.

5.       Crush the ginger root into a paste and add to the brew.

Bring the brew to a boil again. Continue to stir clockwise while concentrating on your goal.

6.       Contribute the orange peel.

7.       Add the 3 coffee beans.

8.       Add the sage leaf.

Allow the potion to boil for the space of thirteen minutes, stirring frequently while contemplating your magical abilities. After this time has passed, remove the potion from the fire. Point your wand at the brew (or the index finger of your hand of power) and project energy into the concoction. Allow this enchantment spell to be recited. (Fair warning: I really need to work on my rhymes. )

Power to charm, bewitch, and conjure

Locked within a deep, dark slumber

When to my lips, this brew is brought

My magic powers will then wake up

Project as much energy into the potion as you deem necessary. Afterwards, the liquid can be strained through the sieve and poured off into the vial or other container. It may then be consumed immediately before meditation, magical workings, or going to bed. Pay close attention to your dreams or any visions you might receive as they may very well point to which types of magic you ought to explore.

I think it goes without saying that you consume potions at your own risk. The ingredients given are noted as safe, however, everyone’s body reacts differently. Please note, the potion recipes are developed for effectiveness, not taste! (How many Witches on TV look forward to actually drinking a potion! 😉)

ANALYSIS:

This potion request was to awaken magical abilities. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve certainly had days where I’ve been groggy and felt like my magic was down. I wish I had written this simple potion ages ago! It could be a fun little way to jump start your magical abilities on one of those slower mornings.

As far as the ingredients go, everything selected is associated with awakening. Think about eating a lemon. Just thinking about it should make your mouth salivate and provoke a physical response. This is the same type of awareness we want to create for our magical abilities. The coffee beans are the main ingredient of a potion made my millions of people every day! No surprise why they’re included – they symbolize the awakening of those abilities. Ginger represents power, orange peel and honey represent the sweetness of life and the sage leaf represents wisdom.

Aloo Gobi
This is an Indian dish which is essentially just potato (aloo) and cauliflower (Gobi).
I made it with a gravy this time but dry tastes as good :)
Ingredients:
Vegetable oil
Green chili
Ginger-garlic paste
A few tsps cumin seeds
Cut tomatoes
Cut Onion
Garam masala
Coriander powder
Salt and sugar
Cut potato
Cut cauliflower
Water
Turmeric powder
(Sorry for the lack of measurements; I did everything by eye as I didn’t follow a specific recipe)

For the gravy part, sauté the cumin, chili, ginger garlic, onion in oil and then add in the tomatoes. Then add in spices and season.
After about 7 mins (tomatoes should be cooked), grind the mixture to form a paste.
Meanwhile, cook the potato and cauli in a little oil and then add some water and cook.
Once cooked, add in the paste and mix.
Then you can eat it with a lightly spiced rice or Indian bread :)

In the morning, I make myself a tofu scramble or peanut tofu.

LUNCHES
I always add one of the following proteins (all are vegan) to my buddha bowls:

Buddah bowl 1:

Rice, TVP, squash, roasted potatoes, zucchini, roasted red peppers,  white onion (sauce: tahini + soy sauce + hot sauce +  agave)

Buddah bowl 2:

Quinoa, lentils, sweet potato, red peppers, asparagus, garlic  (sauce: peanut butter, vinegar, agave, soy sauce, water)

Buddah bowl 3:

Barley, olives, red onion, corn, eggplant (sauce: hot sauce, almond  milk, tahini)

Buddah bowl 4: 

Rice noodles, mushrooms, zucchini, eggplant, spinach, onion  (sauce: soy, hot sauce, water, tahini)

Pasta salad:

Corn pasta (cool), avocado cubes, red onion, shredded lettuce,  sundried tomatoes, red pepper (sauce: lemon juice, olive oil,  vinegar, agave, chili paste)

Mexican Quinoa:

Quinoa, olive oil, garlic, jalapeño, veggie broth, black beans, tomatoes, corn, chili flakes, cumin, lime, avocado

Falafel dippers:

Chickpeas, onion, garlic, cumin, parsley, basil, chickpea flour, olive oil (sauce: tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, agave, garlic, salt) 

DINNERS

Coconut potato curry:

potatoes, cashews, cherry tomatoes, tomato paste, cayenne pepper, cumin, garam masala, coconut milk, olive oil, basil

Vegan Roasted Red Pepper Pasta:

corn spaghetti, almond milk, shallots, red pepper, garlic,  olive oil, nutritional year, corn starch, pepper flakes

Yellow potatoes, chill flakes, batter, lettuce (dipping sauce: chili  paste, mashed tomato, water)

Mushroom Polenta:

garlic, polenta, vegan butter, vegetable stock, rosemary,  mushrooms)

Vegan Pizza:

dough: gluten free blend, salt, baking powder, sugar  (coconut), yeast, olive oil  toppings: olives, pelati tomato  sauce, basil, red onion, mushrooms, spinach, zucchini 

Rapini Pasta:

Corn pasta, rapini, broccolini, olive oil, lemon juice, chill flakes

Thai curry noodles

Rice noodles, onion, cherry tomatoes, coconut oil, spinach (sauce:  coconut milk, tomatoes, tofu, soy sauce, ginger, red curry paste, sriracha, garlic, salt, lime juice) 

Spicy peanut butter tofu:

Firm tofu, peanut butter, sriracha, garlic, vegetable stock, green onions, rice vinegar, agave, soy sauce

Veggie burger:
Veggie patty, whole wheat bread, lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, avocado, olives (sauce: mustard or ketchup or vegan mayo or hot sauce)

Mud crab cakes

Ah, mud crabs. If you’ve ever been in a position where you’re walking along the riverside or the coast, minding your own business, and one of these ugly brutes comes snapping at you without warning, then this recipe is your retribution! These tasty appetisers are a Stros M'kai favourite, and will put to use the tasty inner remains of those pesky mud crabs. Revenge is a dish best served hot with sweet chili sauce!

You will need:
215g fresh crab meat
80g plain flour
75g panko breadcrumbs
1 egg
1 red chili, seeds removed and sliced thinly
3 spring onions, finely chopped
Zest of one lime
1 tbsp lime juice
1 tbsp ginger paste or fresh grated ginger
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 tsp fish sauce
2 tsp oyster sauce
1 cup vegetable oil, for frying
Sweet chili sauce, to serve

Method:
Combine all the ingredients except the oil, egg and breadcrumbs in a food processor and whiz until ingredients are combined. The mixture should be moist but still hold together. If it is too wet, add more flour until it forms a paste.

Shape the mixture into circular patties, about 3" in diameter. In a bowl, crack and whisk the egg. Dip the crab cakes into the egg, then roll in the panko crumbs until thoroughly coated. Set aside on a plate.

In a deep pan or a wok, heat the oil until bubbles form on the bottom and it is very hot. If you are unsure about oil temperature, drop a few panko crumbs in. If they start sizzling immediately, the oil is ready. Put the crab cakes in slowly to prevent splattering, and deep fry for 2 minutes on either side or until a dark golden brown. Alternatively, you can use a deep fryer instead if you have one.

Remove from the pan and place on a plate lined with kitchen napkins to drain the oil. Leave to drain and cool for 10 minutes and serve with sweet chili sauce for dipping.

Akaviri pork fried rice

Throughout the history of Tamriel, the Akaviri people remain mysterious and legendary. Almost nothing remains of their culture, and adventurers can seek out Sky Haven Temple in Skyrim as one of the best preserved examples of Akaviri architecture and belief. One of their rare legacies that remain is this ancient recipe for fried rice, that has been continued on for centuries first in Cyrodiil, but has spread through Tamriel. This meal, while simple, is rich in nutrients, and is delicious and filling and sure to please the whole family or tavern.

You will need:
4 cups rice, steamed
3 pork fillets, diced
4 eggs, beaten
1 onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 spring onions, chopped
1 tbsp ginger paste, or finely chopped ginger
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp light soy sauce
Vegetable oil
Fresh chopped chili, to taste

Method:
In a large skillet, heat your oil and scramble the eggs. When they are cooked through, set aside on a plate to cool.

Add the onions, ginger and garlic and stir continuously until they are browned. Add the pork and stir fry for about a minute, then add the sauces and continue to stir fry until completely cooked through.

Mix in the rice, spring onion, and egg, and stir through thoroughly until well mixed. Garnish with chili and serve immediately.

“Are you excited, Y/N?” 

“Oh yeah, it will be so much fun to be surrounded by strange people who I have never met before!” Y/N sassed, glaring at her younger sister.

“Most people would be a little weirded out by the fact they are going to meet wizards, than meeting people in general.” Hermione replied, smiling at her older sister.

“Dude, I found out my little sister was a witch at age nineteen. Which was only four years ago. Sorry, but nothing surprises me anymore.”

The Granger girls walked through the gate to the Burrow to see multiple gingers flying via broomsticks as lights flashed and a red leather ball was tossed back and forth.

“Except that.”

“You haven’t seen a lot of magic, have you?” Hermione questioned, smirking.

“Sorry that I’m a muggle,” Y/N frowned, gently shoving her younger sister to the side.

“You should be,” one of the gingers said, landing his broom.

“It’s no fun not using magic,” another ginger continued, landing next to his clone.

“Well, I’ve been doing fine without it,” Y/N responded, smirking at the twins. “I’m Y/N Granger by the way.”

“Fred Weasley.” The first twin said.

“And I’m George.”

“Meaning you’re George and you’re Fred,” Y/N said, pointing to the opposite if who said what name.

“How’d you know?” George questioned, astonished.

“I have identical twins for best friends. Sorry, but none of your little twin-y tricks are going to work on me, boys.”

“Come on,” Hermione laughed, rolling her eyes as she pulled her smirking sister forward. “Let’s go introduce you to everyone else.”

The quartet made their way across the vast lawn, with Y/N easily joking with the twins. As they drew closer to the house, the elder Granger stared at it. The Burrow was several stories with multiple chimneys. It looked colorful and welcoming. Y/N was already in love with it.

“Hey, Hermione!” Another ginger appeared, looking to be near Hermione’s age. “Is this your sister?”

“Yeah, it is,” Hermione replied. “Y/N, this is Ron. Ron, Y/N.”

“Nice to meet you.” Ron said.

“You as well.”

“Is Harry here yet?” Hermione asked.

“No,” Fred interrupted the two friends. “We’re going to pick him up on Sunday.”

“RONALD!” 

A loud feminine voice broke through the multiple conversations happening in the yard.

“Yes, Mum?!” Ron called back, turning to face the house. 

A middle-aged red-haired women appeared in the doorway. “Let Hermione’s sister sit down, you four. She must be exhausted from walking for so long.”

“I’m sure she’s fine, Mrs. Weasley,” Hermione tried to say, but Mrs. Weasley ignored her, bustling out the door to gently tug the older sister inside. She pulled Y/N into the kitchen muttering to herself about ‘rude children’ and ‘manners’.

Mrs. Weasley lightly pushed Y/N into a chair and set a bowl of fruits in front of her. “Hello, dear,” she said, sitting down next to her. “I’m Molly Weasley. You must be starving. Have some fruit.”

“Oh, uh, thank you Mrs. Weasley,” Y/N laughed.  “I’m Y/N Granger.”

“It’s lovely to meet you, dear. And, please, call me Molly. We’re both adults. Right? If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you, dear?”

“It’s nice to meet you as well, Mrs. Weas- Molly,” Y/N responded, nibbling on the fresh fruit in front of her. “And I’m 22.”

“Same age as my second oldest, Charlie,” Molly stated. “He’s around here somewhere. He’s rarely home and now that he is, I could swear that boy has been avoiding me.”

“If you don’t mind me asking,” Y/N said, smiling at the older woman slightly, “Why is Charlie never home?”

“Oh, he moved to Romania,” Molly sighed, leaning back in her seat. “He decided to work with dragons after leaving Hogwarts.”

“Really?” Y/N whispered, her eyes lighting up with wonder. She had always loved animals, and dragons. Well, they were dragons. Hermione had mentioned a few magical creatures to her before, such as the hippogriff Hermione had helped save from it’s execution. 

“Oh, yes,” Molly replied, missing the look of amazement that had crossed Y/N’s face. “I fear all of my children have a thing for danger, except Percy, perhaps. Bill’s a curse breaker in Egypt. Fred and George have nearly broken the record for most detentions. Ron decided to befriend a magnet for trouble - but both Harry and Hermione are lovely children, of course. And Ginny - well I’m surprised she didn’t get sorted into Slytherin, what with her cunning. When she was younger, she used to sneak out at night to steal the boys brooms and practice flying.”

Y/N grinned. The more she was around the Weasleys, the more she could tell they all cared for each other very much. They were a very close-knit family, rather like the Grangers; only with double the members. Even with the constant arguments and yelling and adventures they all seemed to have, they still seemed to be a perfect family to the eldest Granger. Y/N had always loved chaos and it seemed The Burrow was the perfect to find it.

“But enough about my crazy children,” Molly stated. “What do you do for a living, Y/N?”

“Oh, I’m a vet.”

“A what?”

“Oh, right. I forgot you wouldn’t know what that meant,” Y/N laughed slightly. “It’s short for veterinarian. I work with animals, to treat and nurse them back to health.”

“Sounds like you and Charlie are very similar,” Molly smiled kindly. “He’s always loved animals.”

“What about me, Mum?”

The fifth ginger of the day entered the kitchen. He was muscular with burns and scars covering most of his body, and looked to be just a few inches taller than Y/N. His eyes were the same shade of brown as his mother’s with the same kindness in them, and with a dash of endless adventure. All in all, he was extremely alluring to Y/N.

“Charlie!” Molly exclaimed, standing from her seat. “Where have you been? You said you would help me with dinner.”

“Sorry, Mum,” Charlie apologized, kissing his annoyed mother on the cheek although his eyes trailed to the very attractive stranger sitting at his kitchen table. “I was spending time with Ginny. I don’t get to spend time with her very much either.”

“Hmm,” Molly pouted, but she seemed to be satisfied with his answer. “Either way, you need to learn to stick to your word.”

“Of course, Mother.” But Charlie was no longer paying attention. He was staring at the stranger, and judging by her delicate blush, she could tell. Molly Weasley could tell as well. It seemed that her second oldest son was falling head-over-heels for a girl, whom he had never even heard speak. 

Smirking, Molly caught the pairs attention. “Well if you are going to be of no use to me, Charlie, you can show Y/N around.”

“Oh, it’s fine Molly,” Y/N interrupted, standing from her seat and bringing the empty bowl to the sink. “I should probably be leaving anyways.”

“Nonsense,” Molly scoffed. “You’re staying for dinner, and Charlie can give you a tour.”

“I don’t want to be a bother.”

“You wouldn’t be,” Charlie said hurriedly, trying to give himself more time to get to know captivating girl.

“Besides,” Molly said, continuing to work on the before mentioned meal, “I’m sure you will have plenty to talk about seeing as you both work with animals.”

“You work with animals?” Charlie inquired, his brown eyes snapping back to the girl. She was slowly becoming more and more magnetic to him.

“Yeah,” Y/N answered. “I’m a vet.”

“A what?”

“There,” Molly exclaimed, pointing her wooden spoon at the two. “You see? You are already getting on well. Now get out! Go explore!”

Y/N opened her mouth to argue, but a whisper in her ear stopped her. “Just give up,” Charlie muttered. “Once she has her mind set on something, there’s no getting around it. Come on, I’ll show you the pond.”

The pair wandered side by side out the door and past yelling gingers to the woods near the gate. They walked in a comfortable silence, both content to admire the surroundings, and to steal glances at each other.

“I never caught your name,” Charlie said as he helped her over a log.

“Y/N,” she answered, smiling up at him.

“Beautiful,” he breathed, once again enraptured in her sparkling eyes. Y/N blushed once again. As they continued to walk, their fingers remained intertwined.

“Your mother said you work with dragons?” 

“Yeah,” Charlie grinned. “I do.”

“That must be amazing,” Y/N stated, with a smile to match his. “Is it hard though? To be away from your family for so long?”

“Oh yeah,” Charlie agreed. “I’m close with all my siblings, even Percy. But, I just, I needed to follow my passion. Is that weird?”

“Absolutely not,” Y/N stated. “I did the same. I live in a little village near the sea, and work as a vet. That means I treat wounded and sick animals. Not to the extent that you do, of course.”

“No,” Charlie chuckled. “I suppose not. What kinds of animals do you get?”

“Um, a lot of farm animals. Again, it’s a little village in the middle of nowhere. Pets as well. I treated a fox once. And last year, around this time, there was this huge black mutt that appeared out of nowhere. Looked deathly sick, nearly starved to death. I nursed him back to health before he disappeared again. Now he tends to come and go. I call him Snuffles.”

They had reached the pond, and were now sitting by the edge watching the fireflies dance around it. Y/N leaned her head against Charlie’s shoulder causing him to grin even wider, and wrap his arm around her.

“Tell me if this is strange,” Charlie whispered, staring at her.

“What?”

“I think I might already be in love with you.” 

Y/N laughed. She didn’t find it strange at all. She herself seemed to already be in love with the handsome man in front of her. “It’s not.”

“Can I kiss you?”

“Yes.”

Their lips met in the stillness near the pond with fireflies casting the only light besides the dark sky. Charlie’s hand raised to cup Y/N’s cheek as she inched closer to him. 

“So you want to give this a shot?” Charlie asked, biting his lip as he looked at the exquisite girl in front of him.

“Definitely.”


Back at the Burrow, the rest of the party was inhaling a delicious dinner. Arthur Weasley studied his children and guest, mentally counting them up in his head.

“Molly,” he trailed, turning to face his very smug looking wife. “Where’s Charlie?”

“I suspect he’s snogging Y/N, Hermione’s sister, by the pond,” she smirked.

“I thought we talked about your match-making!”

“Oh, hush!”

Home-made Mythical Butter Chicken Recipe :)

Here’s my mum’s recipe for butter chicken! I’m posting this for all mythical beasts who are craving butter chicken thanks to the tall guy, specially my friends @mythicallyvi, @mythical-sue, @you-deserve-a-rhink, @ladycynthiana and of course Rhett himself :) This is how we make it at home in India.

For serving 4 people:

  1. Take two onions cut into big pieces, 4-5 cloves of garlic and a small piece of ginger. Blend them in a blender till they form a paste.
  2. Take 3-4 tablespoons of unsalted butter (we use Ghee - if you remember the clarified butter the guys used in How to cure a headache GMM :) But unsalted butter would do just fine.) in a fairly large non stick pan on medium flame (we use a cauldron).
  3. As soon as the butter melts, put the onion garlic ginger paste into it. At this point, there will be a huge aroma emitting from the pan, which I personally LOVE and immediately start salivating! But it might be a little strong for you, so make sure your chimney is on!
  4. Then immediately place 4-5 chicken pieces into the pan. We only cook legs and thighs - with bone, but you can use any pieces that you like, it’s just that the time it takes to cook might differ. Stir it such that all the pieces are covered with the butter and the onion paste, as evenly as possible. Let it simmer on medium flame.
  5.  While the chicken is cooking, take 2-3 tomatoes, make a tomato paste in a blender, and keep it ready.
  6. Once the chicken turns golden brown and slightly softer (which might be about 15 minutes later - approximately?) add the spices! Which are - some salt, turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, some sugar and garam masala and mix well.
  7. Once the spices are spread to all chicken pieces, add the tomato paste, and mix. Let it simmer on low flame for a few minutes, till you see butter separating and bubbling up out of the thick curry. At this point, you may add a little water, put a lid on the pan and let it cook on low flame for another 10-15 minutes. It might take longer, keep checking to see if the chicken is tender, and only slightly coming off of the bones.
  8. Take a handful of cashew nuts. Blend them into a paste with some water. Add it about 2 minutes before turning off the flame, and mix. This should lighten the colour of the dish and make it thicker and tastier.
  9. Once the flame is off, add 2-3 tablespoons of fresh cream to top up the dish, and garnish with coriander leaves! :)

Pro tips:

  1. I don’t know why the picture in the newsletter has peas in it. WHO PUTS PEAS IN BUTTER CHICKEN! Don’t put peas in you butter chicken. Please! :D
  2. While what Indian restaurants serve is fully loaded, with oodles of butter and rich ingredients, it’s not really something you can eat all the time :) So what we make at home is slightly lighter and healthier. We use normal vegetable oil instead of butter or ghee.
  3. We usually have all the spices I mentioned at home, but if they overwhelm you, you can get something called “Chicken Masala” which is a pre-mixed blend of spices. We get it here in India too, I’m sure you’ll get it everywhere. You can also get pre-made onion garlic paste and tomato puree, but we like to make it fresh.
  4. You can eat this with basmati rice. But I personally prefer to eat it with roti / naan that we make at home, with a side of yoghurt+boondi (Remember boondi? From GMMore of episode #530 :D haha)

Gah writing this has made me crave butter chicken so bad that I think my vegetarianism will have to go on a hiatus :D I’ll cook some this weekend and post a picture :) If any of you make it, please post pictures!

Omg okay!! Lauren has already put up with me fangirling over him all morning hahaha but I swear if any of you guys were there you would have died with me. I was just sitting there minding my own business and this tall ass guy with ginger hair walked right past me and I immediately thought he was Sam. Obviously he wasn’t because why would Sam be strolling around a hospital over here but STILL that was my initial thought. Then he disappeared and I thought he was gone for good but I decided to go for a walk and he walked straight past me again and we made eye contact and I was like 🌚🌚🌚🌚🌚 because he was identical to Sam. Same hairstyle/length. Same colour. Same height. Same blue eyes. I haven’t seen him since but who knows maybe he’s my future husband.

Title: Out Run My Gun

Rating: Fluff.

Warnings: Threats (not graphic, or bad), also, is whaddya a word because I don’t know it sounds like one. I use it as one, in case that bothers you. There might be some more words in here that are like, verbally accepted. Like, you can use them when talking, but they aren’t really a “word” that you would write in a paper or something, if that makes sense.

Need To Know: Things will be explained(a little bit) in Jerome talking. //

 

    Loud laughter fills the silence, startling everyone in the class. Something about it feels so familiar to y/n. The wild, varying pitches. She doesn’t have time to recognize who it belongs to though; the door bursts open and the loud, persistent banging of a machine gun fills elicits screams. Her eyes widen, yet she doesn’t scream. All the other kids get to the floor, hiding under their desks and screaming, some even sobbing. A flight or fight response kicks in, and y/n blindly launches herself at the door, making it through due to the incompetence of the lackey guarding the door. As she continues to run forward, out of the corner of her eyes she can just barely see someone walking towards her leisurely. He cackles light-heartedly, calling out in a sing-songy voice, “Darling, don’t run from me.” He pulls the safety on his gun, aiming it at her lazily. He laughs again, and begins to call out to her once more. 

All the other kids with the pumped-up kicks,” he pulls the trigger and the loud bang causes his laugh to become more wild. 

“They better run,” he pulls the trigger again. 

“Better run, outrun my gun,” he pulls the trigger as y/n turns a corner, her heart stopping when she sees no option but one. She rushes into the girls’ locker room, ducking into the nearest shower and pulling the curtain across. His footsteps seem unnaturally loud as he walks into the locker room, instantly seeing her shoes behind one of the curtains. 

“All the other kids with the pumped-up kicks,” He calls out, at this point just taunting y/n. 

“They better run,” he murmurs, his eyes growing dark as he fires another shot, this one at the ceiling, more to elicit a reaction from y/n. When she lets out a small cry, he smiles. He laughs maliciously, jumping up onto one of the benches and spinning, kicking a binder off in a flashy manner. He pounces forward, landing in front of the shower she’s hiding in. 

“Better run…” He reaches forward, his motions painstakingly slow as he grabs the curtain and pulls it back. Before he can get it over all the way, y/n bolts out in a futile attempt to get away he grabs her arm and throws her into the locker area, moving forward. He saunters forward and tilts his head. He snakes his arm around her waist, pulling her too him.

    He presses the gun to her temple. He tilts his head down, his lips only inches from her ear. “Faster than my bullet.” He whispers, his hot breath causing her to shudder. He pushes her forward. “Turn around,” he says, motioning his gun in a circle. She turns around slowly, trying to calm herself down. When her eyes meet his, everything clicks into place.

His laugh.

His voice.

“Jerome.” She whispers.

His face darkens slightly, and he points the gun at her, not faltering, his lips turning up in a cruel smile. Before she can say anything, he pulls the trigger. Her hands fly up to her face, although that wouldn’t protect her from a bullet.

But nothing happens. Jerome stares down at his gun, pulling the trigger again.

Nothing happens.

He moves forward, pulling the trigger aggressively, only stopping when he reaches her. He throws the gun, and it skids far away from them. Y/n smiles, opening her mouth to say something, but he cuts her off quickly, shoving her back. His pale hand wraps around her neck.

“Je-jerome,” she gasps. “Stop, please. I can explain,” her mind goes into panic mode as he pulls out a second gun, pressing it to her temple.

“Explain leaving me? Explain telling me you never loved me, never cared for me? It’s pretty obvious what ya meant, darling.” He growls, his eyes growing dangerous.

“It wasn’t like that!” She raises her voice as much as she can.

“Then what was it like, y/n!” He snaps viciously, his grip tightening slightly.

“It was a fight. I didn’t mean it.” She whispers. “I didn’t mean any of it, Jerome. I was angry…but…” Jerome pulls the safety.

“But what?”

“I…I love you, Jerome.” She says, daring to meet his gaze. A smile slips onto his face, and he steps back.

“That’s great, darling.” He holds the gun up, aiming it at her. “But tell me the truth.”

“I am! I am, I promise!”

“I don’t believe you!” Although he seems angry, it’s clear that his mood is fully playful, which only confuses y/n more. Before she can ask, or move, he pulls the trigger. She jumps back, staring at him with wide eyes. Jerome throws his arms up in an over exasperated shrug and sighs loudly. “Right, I forgot. This one has blanks.” He tosses it to the side and smiles, skipping forward. “But I scared ya, didn’t I?” She shakes slightly as he pulls her into a hug. “Did you think I’d hurt you? I mean, I was going to. Only because I thought cha’ hated me. I guess I was wrong though, huh?” He kisses her temple, tangling his hand in her h/c hair. He hums, swaying back and forth slightly.

Y/n pulls away from him harshly, and sticks her tongue out at him. “Whatever ginger.” She says, walking past him. Jerome’s eyebrows shoot up, and he laughs, his movements resembling a snake as he turns around. “Don’t be like that darlin’,” he says, skipping forward to throw his arm around her. He pulls her to his side, and stops her. “Or I might not make you my queen.” She turns her head to look at him, and he kisses her forward, turning his head to stare forward, motioning out widely with his free hand. “We could have it all.” He looks back at her, amusement twinkling in his eyes. “Whaddya say, darling?” She looks off to the left, pretending to consider this for a while before turning to him, and nodding. Jerome smiles, wrapping both arms around her and kissing her softly before pulling back. “Let’s go cause some trouble.”

Pellitine tomato rice

Pellitine tomato rice is a simple yet filling meal that is easy to make on the road or at home. The rice is flavoured with rich tomato and spices, which makes it anything but bland. This dish is hearty, delicious, and full of all the goodness that will keep you working hard and adventuring.

You will need:
1 cup rice
3 tomatoes, chopped
1 tin tomato paste
1 brown onion, chopped finely
2 cloves garlic, chopped finely
1 tbsp ginger paste, or one small ginger root, chopped finely
Sprig of coriander, chopped
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp curry powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin seeds or powder
½ tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil

Method:
In a large bowl, soak your rice in water for 45 minutes, then drain and set aside.

Combine the tomato paste, garlic, ginger, coriander, and onion. In a small bowl, combine all the dry spices and mix thoroughly, then add to the tomato paste mix.

Heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the tomatoes and cook until soft. Stir in the pre-soaked rice, then add the tomato paste mix and stir well until rice is coated evenly. Add 1 cup water and stir into the rice. Cover skillet with lid and simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes, or until rice is soft.

Remove from heat and stir thoroughly to make sure the rice is coated completely in tomato mix. Serve immediately on its own, or garnish with fresh vegetables.

Edamame Hummus Salad
2 cups greens 🌱
½ cup brown rice 🍚
¼ cup edamame hummus
¼ cup shredded carrots 🥕
Sliced avocado 🥑
Bean sprouts

EDAMAME HUMMUS
1 cup chickpeas
1 cup edamame beans
¼ cup garlic tahini
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup olive oil
1 tbsp chili paste
Sliver of ginger (size of a quarter)
½ tsp salt
In a food processor, start by adding in the edamame, chickpeas, tahini, lemon, chili paste, ginger and salt. Begin pulsing the mixture together. Once the mixture is lightly combined begin adding in the olive oil. Do this in small increments to avoid using more olive oil than is necessary. Once the mixture begins to blend through the food processor smoothly, no more oil is needed and the hummus is done. *I go by the texture of the hummus without measuring, so the amount of oil may vary. I prefer my hummus thicker rather than overly oily. Plus the extra juice from the lime will help the hummus to blend

Prologue

He Tian raised his fist, threatening and his eyes burning like black fire. Hate was oozing from every piece of his body, nothing else mattered besides the feeling of loss and regret. God, he was so fucking gone.

The other man stared right back at him, sinister as the night and a cruel smirk adorning his lips, wide and disgustingly wrong. Black strands of sweaty, bloody hair stuck to his prominent high cheek bones and forehead, throwing dark shadows over the top half of the face he loathed. He couldn’t stand it and rammed his hand into the mirror, breaking it into thousands of pieces, destroying his own accusing reflection, the last thing he wanted to see. A silent scream ripped his throat like one of the glass shards, his whole body felt heavy, so heavy. His knees gave in and he sacked against the wall, slowly sliding down at it, his cut hand leaving bloody prints on the white tiles. As if he’d give a fuck.


 „Tian…?“


 His lips twitched from holding back a laugh. There was nothing. The bathroom door was still open, the house still empty and he was still not…

Slowly, he leaned his head back, staring at the ceiling.

Pathetic, his father would have said. His brother would have said. And worst of all, if he would have witnessed him in this godforsaken second, he would have been of the same opinion.

It was his fault and he deserved this, if he hadn’t just been that sure of himself. Not that sure of his strength. Not that sure that everything would stay within his control. Not that convinced of his options to work out as planned.

Guanshan, his one and only weakness.
