Q. If you don’t mind me asking, can you recommend some good sageuks?
Well, I don’t know what kind of Korean historical drama/movie you would like. (Trendy? Traditional? Political? Romantic? Timeslip?) So, I made the following list of Korean Sageuks (mostly since 2000~) in chronological order. You can pick up anything you want. :)
★ = Good for beginners (You don’t have to know much about Korean history in advance) ◯ = Daebak (popular in South Korea. More than 30% viewership ratings on TV, or over 7 million tickets at the box office.) ◉ = Hallyu hit (popular in foreign countries) ↗ = Timeslip genre ♡ = Romance-centric, or Erotic ◀ = My favorites
Title in Bold + Italic = My recommendation

It had been a few days since Phichit had told Yuuri that he and Seung-Gil had just started off, and were trying to see how a relationship between them would go. They were barely starting out, so it wasn’t like one could judge how it was going by now, but Yuuri still felt that it was his duty as a best friend to make sure his partner knew what he was getting himself into, in order to prevent as much heartbreak as he was able to.
It was because of this very reason that the two males were sitting on a Café, thinking about what to order. Yuuri had asked Seung-gil to come over, alone. He didn’t want for Phichit to be around when they spoke. Oh, he also asked for Phichit not to know, because if he came to know about it, he would boicott the whole thing.
Because, years ago, Yuuri had warned his best friend. He had told him that whenever he tried to have a relationship, Yuuri would have to make sure that it was with a good person first. Phichit had laughed and told him that he would do the same, unless the man that actually fell for Yuuri were Victor Nikiforov himself. They had both lost it laughing in that moment, because there would be no way something like that could happen.
But it did, and Yuuri could barely believe it himself, still.
…But that was not what this was about. It was about Phichit-kun, and his new partner.
A waiter took their orders and left, and they were left alone. Seung-gil gave Yuuri a look that said ‘why are we even here?’, and Yuuri proceeded to explain himself.
“Seung-gil Lee-san, I know you’re starting a thing with Phichit-kun, and I assume you mean well, because you have no reason to want or try to hurt him, but I want you to know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. Phichit-kun is not that easy of a person, you see, and I know. I know, because I lived for him five years back in America,” the reason why he was saying this in such an odd way, he didn’t know, but it was quite humorous.
He looked like a barely toned down version of the One and Only, the Only Drama Queen Certified by the ISU, Victor Nikiforov himself, but with reasons to be like this. Well, he guessed that made him a liiittle less dramatic, but not really.
He pointed at Seung-gil, and frowned. “So, are you sure you’re prepared to hear all of this?” ~katuki-yuuri
