Original Three’s 10 Day Disney Challenge

Favorite Movie ➤ Tangled

At last Rapunzel was home, and she finally had a real family. She was a Princess worth waiting for. But above all, she led her kingdom with all the grace and wisdom that her parents did before her. And as for me, well. I started going by Eugene again. Stopped thieving, basically turned it all around. But I know what the big question is. Did Rapunzel and I ever get married? Well I’m pleased to tell you. After years, and years of asking, and asking, and asking. I finally said yes.

Father Gothel: “You want me to be the bad guy? Fine… now I’m the bad guy.”

(( It’s been a minute hasn’t it? I had the sudden urge to recreate my original Rapunzel edit, since my technique has improved, and ended up going a bit nuts. :P So here’s the genderbent version of the scene that nearly crushed our souls and gave us nightmares. ;) ))

Claire Keane concept art for Tangled

Early on I realized that the paintings on Rapunzel’s walls were going to be a representation of Rapunzel’s personality and her subconscious thoughts and desires. To be able to accomplish that I felt I really needed to know who she was. I ended up carrying a sketch diary with me on my free time to document what I was doing when I wasn’t doing anything  in particular so that I could have a sense of what Rapunzel could be filling her days doing in her tower. So if I was putting my clothes away I would get out my sketchbook and draw Rapunzel hanging up her clothes in her room, and then I’d see that I was drawing while I was supposed to be doing chores which led me to an idea that Rapunzel would be constantly creating: if she had mending to do it would turn into a full-on craft project.
