Perfect…

built for Governor Shirley, a Royal Governor of Massachusetts in the 1740s. This was his country house overlooking Boston Harbor from Roxbury. The house was remodeled about 1795 for the Eustis family and has been accurately restored in the last 35 years, and is open to the public. The photo is from the seventies and shows the volunteer crew who helped restore the house.

Powder horn and shot bag belonging to militia man John Peterson. Inscribed with the words John Peterson His Horn Made in Roxbury September 16 1775.

Roxbury did send three companies of militia to fight on April 19, 1775, though John Peterson’s name isn’t among them.
