People who are telling others to boycott Alice Through the Looking Glass because of the Johnny Depp allegations clearly don’t get that (1) he’s already been paid, so loses absolutely nothing from the film performing poorly, (2) there was never going to be a 3rd one anyway because there are always TWO Alice stories, and (3) it’s incredibly unfair to everyone else who worked on the film, particularly Alan Rickman as this is his last EVER film.
[if Amber Heard’s allegations prove to be true then of course Depp is a terrible person and doesn’t deserve to work in Hollywood again, but that doesn’t mean ATTLG should be punished for it]
I personally love the Alice (2010/2016) films, but I guess they're not for everyone.
THE ALICE FILMS ARE MASTERPIECES; THE CINEMATOGRAPHY IS BEAUTIFUL, THE CHARACTERS ARE FASCINATING, THE STORYLINE IS ORIGINAL YET PAYS HOMAGE TO THE SOURCE MATERIAL. THEY'RE ATMOSPHERIC, SATIRICAL, EMOTIONAL. THEY ARE A GIFT TO FILMMAKING AND STORYTELLING IN GENERAL. AND ANOTHER THING ....
