giant sequoia redwood

Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias in Yosemite National Park, at Sunset

On Thursday and Friday, I road tripped up to Redwood National Park and the surrounding areas with my good buddy Adam. Being in the presence of some of the tallest and oldest trees in the world is incredibly humbling! Some of the trees we saw were well over 330 feet (100 meters) tall. Also, taking a gondola ride through a redwood forest was one of the cooler things I’ve ever done.

Spent the weekend roaming the redwoods, lush with green from El Niño’s rain.

“The redwoods, once seen, leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always. No one has ever successfully painted or photographed a redwood tree. The feeling they produce is not transferable. From them comes silence and awe. It’s not only their unbelievable stature, nor the color which seems to shift and vary under your eyes, no, they are not like any trees we know, they are ambassadors from another time.” ~ John Steinbeck
