Symbolizing law and justice, the Haechi statue in front of Gwanghwamun was erected by master mason Yi Se-wook in 1865 to protect the newly reconstructed Gyeongbokgung Palace from the fire energy emitted from Mt. Gwanaksan in the south. Today the Haechi is a symbol of the city of Seoul.
I went to Samcheong-dong last Sunday to see [‘DAUM Webtoon’ Original Painting Exhibition]. But entering into the exhibit hall, I quite disappointed at the paintings. They are merely copied digital printings, not original hand paintings. Web cartoons are drawn from the first using digital drawing tools like tablet for the purpose of web upload. The concept of original painting in Web Cartoon is no more than a digitized photo file composed with pixels.
With a sense of disappointment I made my way to the second floor. They were selling other digital printed works of various artists. But the printings are also merely low-priced digitized copies of well known artworks
After all, the only things I got meaningfully are the ‘real’ clouds I saw through the window between the 1st and 2nd floor.
