Finally writing about something that’s been on my mind for a while now.
Hugh Fraser was an animator at Disney, primarily on Goofy shorts in the early-40’s til the mid-50’s. I’ve noticed in many of his scenes, he’ll animate a specific take, where the head and eyes will stretch up, sometimes in a weird curved arc. No other animator, from any studio, did this. Only Fraser. It’s kind of a weird, distracting action, but it oddly works in some cases.
So, after finding numerous examples and because it’s so unique, I will now coin a new classification on smear: The Hugh Fraser smear.
More Hugh Fraser smears to come soon.
