generic architecture

2

Hello again every one.

Its been a few weeks since i last posted with Jhin’s gun and I’m back with a few more renders that i made to tide you over.  some really generic space and architecture renders done for practice, but I’m also here to announce that I’m going to have something cool for everyone on Halloween more along the lines of the Jhin gun. I’m super excited for everyone to see!

Hi! I've recently rejoined Tumblr again after a long absence, was wondering if you had any recommendations for who to follow? I love classics -- art, literature, architecture -- and generic lit criticisms! Thank you!

Hello - welcome back to this blue hell! I trust this will be helpful:

classics

literature (poetry)

art

lit criticism

i love your blog, one of the best architecture blogs in tumblr. But i´d like to know if you ever hear of the house of one proyect. I don´t know if you´ve already post about it. But i would be nice if you do. :) Saludos from Guanajuato, Mexico

Thanks, House of One is an interesting idea, as described in their website:

Berlin is soon to become home to something truly unique. Jews, Christians, and Muslims are planning to build a house of worship here – one that brings a synagogue, a church, and a mosque together under one roof. The three separate sections will be linked by a communal room in the center of the building. This will serve as a meeting place, where worshipers and members of the public can come together and learn more about the religions and each other.

In  my opinion, anything that furthers the idea of uniting people instead of dividing them is good. I have been in non-denominational religions buildings that are used by different religious at different times but this building intends to do more and create a place for three religions under one roof. A place that celebrates our differences without condemning or just “tolerating” them but instead embraces them.

In all honesty, I just wished the architecture was more expressive and less generic.

From your point of view as an architect, what is the most horrible modern building you have ever seen? What about overall man-made structure?

The question is too broad, so for me, the ugliest buildings in the last year are two. One because its in my opinion plain ugly and the other because its a bland building and a wasted oportunity.

The just plain ugly (in my opinion) is the Kunsthaus Graz art museum.

The other will be a controversial choice. It is not an “ugly” building in my mind but its so bland and without a personality that is really sad. In a city famous for its skyscrapers it feels very generic, One Trade Center.
