generation united

One thing I’ve learned is that you should never look back. The past is dead and buried, you get nothing from living there. It’s all about today.

Happy First Contact Day! Free wallpapers for all! If you like this design, surf on over to my redbubble store and check out the different ways you can wear/drink/stick this pice to share your love of Trek! UPDATE: Though I do still have a redbubble shop, CBS demanded they take down most of my Trek-themed art. Sadly, this was one of the pieces I had to take down.

Because we have put so much carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere over the last two and half centuries, there is a great fraction of climate change that’s coming no matter what we do today. A certain amount of global warming and weather disruption is baked in; in a word, it is unstoppable. But you know what? So are we. Humans, and human progress, are also unstoppable.

We have made it through millennia of disease, famine, drought, and even an ice age. Until this modern time, we humans had little control over what became of our Earth, our home. We were along for the orbital-oscillating, axis-tilting, snowcap-cycling ride. But today, we have the technical means to watch over our home planet and take responsibility for our own fate. No generation before had the weather records on the scale we have today and the computing power to crunch those numbers. No generation before us could use geospatially tracked buoys and submersibles to know the ocean’s currents and ecosystems as we do now. No generation before us had the assets in space to look down and see the atmosphere as it really is, thin and vulnerable. In short, no generation before the one coming of age today could so readily be unstoppable.

Right now, today, we have among us the Next Great Generation, the one that will carry this process forward to the places that it must go. The young people, the innovators, the entrepreneurs, the engineers, and the just plain hard workers are among us. Together we will accept the challenge of creating clean energy and providing clean water to everyone on Earth. The Next Generation can, and will, change the world—for all of us together.

Around people
if I feel I’m gonna die
I excuse myself
telling them “I gotta go!”
“Go where?” they wanna know
I don’t answer
I just get outa there
away from them
because somehow
they sense something wrong
and never know what to do
it scares them such suddenness
How awful
to just sit there
and they asking:
“Are you okay?”
“Can we get you something?”
“Want to lie down?”
Ye gods! people!
who wants to die amongst people?!
Especially when they can’t do shit
To the movies — to the movies
that’s where I hurry to
when I feel I’m going to die
So far it’s worked.

President Trump signed orders to reverse the previous administration’s energy policies, a move that he framed as “an end to the war on coal” and that comes amid a drop in the fuel’s use. Natural gas surpassed coal last year as the most common source for electricity generation in the United States, according to a Post analysis of preliminary data from the Energy Information Administration. Coal was responsible for a majority of electricity generation at the start of the century and was still the source for nearly half in 2008 but has fallen steadily, accounting for 30 percent last year. Natural gas powered 34 percent of the country’s electricity last year, passing coal as well as nuclear.

The Signs as Witches

I know its christmas time but I’m feeling really spooky today

The Traditional Witch:  Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn

“The witches who take the journey of traditional witchcraft, are interested in the old ways (pre-Christian), and are followers of history and the arts, building a foundation for their craft. Usually the craft is passed down generation after generation within family units. These witches are less inclined to participate in the worship of Goddess or Gods, preferring to work predominantly with the Spirit world and will often call on their ancestors or land spirits for strength”

The Eclectic Witch:  Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Aquarius

“An individual approach that picks and chooses from many different traditions and creates a personalized form of witchcraft that meets their individual needs and abilities. They do not follow a particular religion or tradition, but study and learn from many different systems and use what works best for them.”

The Kitchen Witch: Taurus, Cancer, Scorpio

“This Witch carries practical sides of the Wiccan / Pagan religion, magic, gemstones, the elements and the earth. A Kitchen Witch is usually recognized as practicing Celtic Wicca: Goes by the elements, the Ancient Ones and nature. They are usually healers, respected highly and once they are past their 40’s tend to take on a “Wise Woman” role as they have an abundance of knowledge and are admired for it.”

The Hedge Witch: Gemini, Libra, Pisces

“Green witches usually practice a traditional form of witchcraft in which the earth, trees, herbs, plants and flowers are consulted for their medicinal and magical value. They will grow their own herbs or Wildcraft them, and are very good at making herbal remedies. Belief in deities depends on the individual witch, though many Green witches acknowledge and earth mother or series of nature spirits as their deity”

The Roar You Know

Breaking Clique Stereotypes

Dream team? This new group of friends seen in the cafeteria has the AGHS population gabbing!

If you haven’t noticed, the social hierarchy within the student body at Angel Grove has been anything but normal this school year. The not so low-key drama has yet to cease simmering. This month, we’re diving in with an extra large spoon to stir the overflowing pot of drama!

A unique collection of students have formed a rather unexpected social clique. The new group have been on close watch due to recent events.  If you have been living under a rock, we’ll catch you up to speed. As mentioned in previous issues; Kimberly Hart was dethroned from cheer social elite, golden boy quarterback Jason Scott fell from grace following his injury during a prank gone wrong, and brainiac Billy Cranston showed us he’s not that harmless after all by knocking out the biggest bully on campus.

This group of ‘rebels’ seem to have formed a new-found bond. Breaking all social norms, they’ve have been spotted throughout campus together as a new generation of united outsiders. We forgot to mention the not-so-new new girl Trini and shirtless rogue hottie Zack who seem to be apart of the crew. On the rare occasion the squad is all together, heads turn and jaws drop in awe as to what brought this unexpected group together. What could bring this group to become friends? If only we could take a peek at their group text!

The editors at The Roar are loving the scandalous new united front. We’re pleasantly surprised to see such an original group of individuals break stereotypes. Regardless of what has caused the new #SQUAD, we have to applaud their ability to fuel the festering rumor mill on campus.
