‘Pokémon GO’ generation 2 is finally here!

  • Niantic has announced the Pokémon Go Gen 2 update, which brings the Johto starters from the Gen 2 games Gold and Silver, along with new evolutions and more.
  • Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile — better known as the Johto starters — will finally make their Pokémon Go debut.
  • Other non-starter Pokémon include Crobat, Donphan, Hoothoot, Hoppip, Marill, Murkrow and Skarmory.
  • Official artwork for the Pokémon Go Gen 2 release also confirms the addition of new Eevee evolutions Espeon and Umbreon.
  • Overall, we can expect over 80 new Pokémon to join the game.

Generation 2 is headed our way!!

“More than 80 Pokémon that were originally discovered in the Johto region in the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games, as well as Pokémon with gender-specific variations, will start rolling out soon in Pokémon GO.

New Evolutions: There are now more opportunities to evolve your Pokémon in Pokémon GO than ever before. Some Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will soon be able to evolve—into Pokémon that inhabit the Johto region! Be on the lookout for new Evolution items at PokéStops, which you’ll need to evolve some Pokémon.

New Encounter Gameplay: When you encounter Pokémon in the wild, don’t be surprised if they react in new ways as you’re trying to catch them. You’ll also notice the addition of new item carousels that allow you to select Berries and Poké Balls directly from the encounter screen. Hone your skills and catch those elusive Pokémon!

New Berries: Pokémon enjoy eating Berries, and you’ll have the opportunity to get two new Berries by spinning the Photo Disc at PokéStops—Nanab Berries and Pinap Berries! Giving a Pokémon a Nanab Berry will slow its movements, making it easier to catch. The Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy you’ll receive if your next catch attempt succeeds.

New Avatars and an Expanded Wardrobe: Now you’ll be able to give your avatar a complete upgrade! Customize your look with a whole new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items.”

I’ll be expecting this to drop this weekend, so be on the lookout trainers!

The Celebration of the Global Water Festival has begun in Pokemon GO!

“Get ready to make some waves in Pokémon GO! There’s a global Water Festival in progress, and Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and friends are looking forward to celebrating with you! Starting today at 1 P.M. PDT, you’ll be more likely to encounter Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and their Evolutions all around the world. Additionally, when you’re out exploring areas where Water-type Pokémon more commonly appear, you’ll have a greater chance to encounter several of the Water-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region, and maybe… you might even encounter Lapras!”

Also, you get that pretty sweet Magikarp hat (for free) in your inventory for the event! That Nearby picture was my radar after the event started and everything is a water type!!

The Pokémon GO Water Festival is a limited-time celebration and will come to an end on March 29, 2017, at 1 P.M. PDT! Get out there and get yourself some water Pokemon!
