My First Game Jam Summer 2017 Dev Log - Days 1+2

Well daily logging is going well so far, ha.

Anyhoo, my Day 1 of MFGJ included finishing a several page outline and actually beginning on my script’s first draft:

I also took a look at the Ren’Py documentation and it’s similar to how you work in Twine. Plus I tend to write stories in a similar format they’re asking for (compare the next picture with the one above). I just added the “narration” after reading the Quick start documentation page.

I also looked into some of Ren’Py’s customization tools. The language Ren’Py uses is Python which is similar to a scripting language I’ve been learning on-and-off (Javascript).

For Day 2, I’ve spent a lot of time looking up references and tutorials for drawing faces. I attempted to start designing Treyané’s face, but it became more of a refresher on working in Inkscape (I started learning it before this jam). Plus now I have a basic reference within Inkscape for creating faces+their proportions in the future! Though… I only have one facial shape for now.

yo shoutout to game developers and writers because sometimes people can be so ungrateful
