These are a good idea if you only plan to use your laptop for light notetaking, or if you need a backpack-friendly machine to supplement your bigger one at home. These usually tend to run smaller, and heat up more easily.
on dream daddy: a dad dating simulator, re: criticisms
as a nonbinary lesbian, i just have to say that i am so disappointed at how other sapphic people on tumblr are reacting to ddadds.
(quick disclaimer: i haven’t played the game. i was going to buy it but my laptop only has two gb of ram and ddadds requires four. however, my friend @nbnightwing, does have the game and is doing every ending he can get (he’s done them all but hugo and craig) and has been sending me screenshots as he plays because he knows how much i wanted to play. i’ve also watched several playthroughs on youtube, including craig’s entire storyline. so i know the game pretty well).
i’m gonna be frank: before the game i was very nervous about it. i wasn’t sure if it would be good representation of achillean people and their relationships. i was worried that it was just going to be a joke, not to mention the fact that i don’t trust the game grumps.
but then it came out. then i saw how the game actually plays through.
so here we go.
first things first. while the game grumps are genuinely fucked up, this is not their game. they voice some of the characters (meaning every now and then they grunt or say a word or two) and they produced it. so torrenting the game because you don’t want the game grumps to have your money is useless. you’re just denying the actual creators money.
now that i’ve addressed that, let’s move on to the other two big criticisms.
the cult ending everyone is so up-in-arms about is non-canonical. that means it doesn’t actually happen in the game. if it ends up being a dlc, cool because that sounds like an interesting storyline. if not, oh well! either way, that ending wouldn’t be homophobic. if joseph was the only gay man and shown to be a cult leader? that would be homophobic. but he’s one out of eight gay men in the show (including the playable character) and you know what? gay men can be anything straight men can - including evil cult leaders.
lastly, the game isn’t misogynistic. the focus is, of course, on men because it’s a game about gay men. however, amanda is easily one of the main characters being the playable character’s daughter and there is so much character development for her in the game. mary is shown to be a caring woman stuck in a loveless relationship who has resorted to alcohol - she’s not a great mom, but she is a good character. of the other dads’ children, six of them are girls (and one of them is canonically sapphic and has a girlfriend! you only meet her if you play her dad’s run though).
now that i’ve gotten through the two biggest reasons why people are hating on the game, i have one last thing to say.
this game isn’t ours. this game isn’t for wlw. we can buy it, we can play it, we can enjoy and make content for it, but we can’t claim it. this is a game about mlm (or as @nbnightwing says, dld - dad loving dads), for mlm. let them play it and enjoy it without your endless criticisms. let them have fun with some of the little positive representation they get.
look, i get it. we all need to be critical consumers of media and you can enjoy something and still be critical about it. however, claiming the game is homophobic and misogynistic, when you don’t actually know much about the game? is irresponsible. grow up and let achillean people have something that belongs to them without feeling the need to constantly hate on it.
YanSim was never going to be good, anyway. The time system alone is super weird and out of place for what probably should've just been "Hitman with anime girls," and on top of that he's so incompetent that his pre-alpha build was using over 4 GB of RAM and crashing Unity 4 until he got someone else to port it to Unity 5 for him.
Yandere Sim is like someone just decided to make the most perfect example of feature creep that could ever exist
Hi, I'm looking to buy a new laptop that can handle me playing both sims 2&4 with all the cc I download. So I wanted to get some points of reference on what kind of computer to buy from actual simmers that play the game. So if u will, could you tell me what kind of computer, generation of intel processor, RAM, and GB you use to play the sims 4? Do you have any issues with crashing, lag, or glitches in the game? Is there anything else you'd suggest I should consider?
How about I just do this:
*no lag/crashing/glitches – actually my game crashed once :)
I needed a powerful computer. They gave me this DELL Precision T7910.
Although there are no non-x86 powerful UNIX workstations anymore, the engineering/scientific workstation market is still alive. This machine is equipped with two Xeon E5-2687Wv3 CPUs (10 cores each), 128 GB RAM, 12-Gb/s SAS RAID controller, PC-over-IP NIC and two NVIDIA graphics cards (Quadro P5000 and GRID K1). Hard drive slots are front accessible and almost everything inside the machine can be installed/replaced without tools. From my point of view, this is as professional computer as my SGI Octane2. Even weight is very similar (40 kg).
Dear Tyson. I am a 24-year old teacher from South-Africa. I love drawing and it will always remain my first love. I teach Afrikaans (my home language) and Arts and Culture. I want to start to give life to my own artwork and designs. It is also part of my job discription that I am responsible for designing our school newsletters etc. I have very little to none knowledge as to what type of computer I need, hardware, graphics cards, GB and RAM, extra software or gadgets... Help! Nicolette Orffer
For doing digital painting, most modern computer would handle the task without problem. However, if you are not familiar with computer, you should buy a brand-name PC, prefereably Lenovo because it offers better quality and service. The money saved from building your own does not worth the trouble later.
For CPU, you can choose from two brands, intel and AMD. For intel CPUs, any 4th generation series would do, while Pentium G3xx0 is the bottom-line, the more powerful and expensive Core i3 4xx0 series and above are more preferable choices. For AMD CPUs, anything A4 and above should be fine. Intel CPUs has better compatibility with free software.
You don’t need a discrete graphic card for digital painting. It’s only required for 3D computer games. Normal discrete graphics cards, no matter how expensive they are, do not accelerate professional 3D creativity applications in the first place. I’m using a 12.1 inch laptop with intel integrated graphics (among the least powerful ones), yet so far I have never run into trouble.
Nothing special to say about RAMs. 4G DDR3-1600 memory is enough for the job. If you are using more than 4G, make sure to install a 64 Bits operation system. A 32 Bits system can only handle up to 3.5G or 4G memory. A 64 Bit system is faster doing digital painting as well.
If you have the budget, use a SSD instead of the traditional mechanical hard drive. A SSD is the best upgrade you can give to any PCs, it is super fast, silent and reliable as well. If you have the budget for a discrete graphics card, you may be better off buying a SSD instead.
If you are going professional, you should buy a graphics tablet as well. Wacom offers the best hardware and it has the best software support as well. Bamboo series is not for serious artists because of the slow tablet event report rate. Intuos Pen series has the adequate performance, but its stylus is not built to last, which becomes sticky after a year or so. Intuos pro series is better but way more expensive. Size does not really matter here. If your display is smaller than 22-inch, buy the small size; larger displays work better with medium size. No need to buy anything larger than medium (6x9) size unless you are using Wacom Cintiq.
A good display REALLY matters. You don’t want to draw with wrong color. I’m using a Dell P2414H and I would recommend that. Its has reasonably well color accuracy for its price, and it does not flick when you dim the backlight, which protects your sight.
Or you can just buy Microsoft Surface Pro 3 alone. The PRO series allows you to draw on the screen. Even the cheapest one is decent enough for digital painting.
Last but not the least important thing is buying a good outlet with surge protection. It will protect your computer from the surge of the power grid, dramatically reduces the odds of malfunction. You will regret if you don’t use one.
I work with free softwares. Some don’t believe, but they served me well. Ubuntu is a decent operation system. Krita is great for digital painting. GIMP is a powerful image processor. Inkscape is for vector artists. Libreoffice is a Microsoft Office substitute Firefox is a nice web browser. All these you can get from Ubuntu’s software center for free once you install the system.
You might want a color printer and a scanner. I have them, but haven’t been using them for quite some time.
Good luck on your career and hope to see your work someday!
Will wolf quest anniversary edition and tower fall be available for iOS and Android?
Will it be available for mobile phones and tablets
Yes…at least some of them, and/or in some form. We are remaking the Amethyst and Slough Creek maps – they will be much larger, with more animals, and that may be too much for mobile devices with limited RAM memory. It’s been difficult to get the current game to run reliably on some devices which have only 1 GB of RAM memory, and we are not sure that this new episode will run on those devices. We’ll do our best, but there’s a good chance that some mobile devices won’t be able to get it, and/or we will have a simpler version of it for some mobile devices.
