Constantin Brâncuși - “Work like a slave, command like a king, create like a god.”
Constantin Brâncuși (February 19, 1876 – March 16, 1957) was a Romanian sculptor, painter and photographer who made his career in France.
Considered a pioneer of modernism, one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th-century, Brâncuși is called the patriarch of modern sculpture.
As a child he displayed an aptitude for carving wooden farm tools. Formal studies took him first to Bucharest, then to Munich, then to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1905 to 1907.
His art emphasizes clean geometrical lines that balance forms inherent in his materials with the symbolic allusions of representational art.
Brâncuși sought inspiration in non-European cultures as a source of primitive exoticism, but other influences emerge from Romanian folk art traceable through Byzantine and Dionysian traditions.
Brâncuși always dressed in the simple ways the Romanian peasants did. His studio was reminiscent of the houses of the peasants from his native region: there was a big slab of rock as a table and a primitive fireplace, similar to those found in traditional houses in his native Oltenia, while the rest of the furniture was made by him out of wood. Brâncuși would cook his own food, traditional Romanian dishes, with which he would treat his guests.
Brâncuși held a large spectrum of interests, from science to music. He was a good violinist and he would sing old Romanian folk songs, often expressing by them his feelings of homesickness. After the installment of communism, he never considered moving back to his native Romania, but he did visit it eight times.
Brâncuși died on March 16, 1957, aged 81. He was buried in the Cimetière du Montparnasse in Paris. This cemetery also displays statues that Brâncuși carved for deceased artists.
At his death Brâncuși left 1200 photographs and 215 sculptures. He bequeathed part of his collection to the French state, after it was refused by the Romanian Communist government, on condition that his workshop be rebuilt as it was on the day he died. This reconstruction of his studio, adjacent to the Pompidou Centre, is open to the public.
Brâncuși’s works are housed in the National Museum of Art of Romania (Bucharest), the Museum of Modern Art (New York) and other museums around the world. The Philadelphia Museum of Art holds the largest collection of Brâncuși sculptures in the United States.

daliaaaaa could you tell me your fave sterek fics please?? :)
How could you ask me this? Do you have any idea how many
sterek fics I’ve read over the years? How many I’ve loved?
This is a short list of the very few I could think of off
the top of my head. I think I’ll probably make a recs page, because I’ve been
meaning to for a long time. I have a recs tag, but that includes different
pairings as well.
“I called you a slave-driver!” Stiles cried hysterically. “I called you an ogre! I stole all the blue paperclips!” Derek raised an eyebrow at him. “That’s company property!” he shouted, waving his arms madly in distress. Derek ran a hand over his face. “It’s not theft if the vice president of the company gives you permission.”
It was late, and you were missing Jimin. He had left to Busan to spend time with his family. He wanted to take you, but your work wouldn’t give you three days off; You told Jimin that it was fine but he still felt weird about leaving you. As you drove him to the airport he promised to call every night, and that he would be home as soon as possible. He looked down at his watch and realized he only had 15 minuets to get to his flight gate so he gave you a quick kiss and once again assured you he would be home in no time and left. Just like that he was already in the airport and out of your sight. Fast forward to when you got back home. You knew that you could take care of yourself for three days, that is until you got a feeling in your stomach. It didn’t hurt, and you knew that you weren’t hungry. Until it hit you. You were needy. Not just for Jimin’s presence, but something else of his. You decided to figure your problem out on your own when you realized you didn’t know how. You suddenly got very embarrassed at the fact that you were going to have to either figure it out by yourself, or call and ask Jimin. You tired for a few minutes to try to make yourself feel the same way Jimin did, but to no avail. Finally, you decided to call Jimin. It rang twice when he picked up. His voice was groggy when he said “Hey baby…what’s up….you ok?” You just whimpered in response. “Babe what’s up?” Jimin said more intrigued and definitely turn on. “Chim I miss you.” You said again with a whimper. “Aww baby I miss you too. What’s up?” He said with a yawn. “Chim I miss you in a different way, and I can’t fix it alone.” You said with another whimper. “Baby, you do know I’m sharing a room with Hope, and Jungkook right? I don’t think I can help you like you want me to.” He said confused and frustrated at himself for losing in rock, paper, scissors, to Suga who got a room to himself. “Well…Chim…I don’t need you like that I need you to walk me through how to do it myself…” You said trailing off. Jimin grunted slightly at the thought of teaching you how to touch yourself, considering he was the only one who wantef to make you feel good. He understood through. And he was more than ready to teach you a few things for when he was away. He coached you through and when he had you moaning he growled into the phone, “A little faster Baby…”
