Today I had the pleasure of photographing the Jathiswara School of Dance and Music’s sixth annual recital. Upon receiving my assignment, I had no idea what I was getting into - other than an “Indian Dance,” as marked by the slug on my assignment. I did some research and still wasn’t quite sure what awaited me.

But I was so happily surprised with what I found.

I was surrounded by beautiful colors and even classic Indian music. The young ladies performing the traditional dance were so talented and so sweet. I was so taken with the beauty of it all, I immediately texted my boyfriend saying, “Let’s go to India!!” It is now on our to-do-list.

I am so grateful to have be able to capture part of the beauty and tradition that is Bharathanatyam. I cannot wait to experience it once again.

MMMMMMM lasagna!!!!! I visited Newberry High School’s kitchen today. After wandering around the campus looking for someone and finding no one, I followed my nose and found the kitchen.

The Sunrise Rotary Club was cooking up vats and vast of lasagna for their Mama Mia’s italian dinner tomorrow night. They are having to feed 490 people and hope to raise $20,000 for their club.

Everything looked and smelled SO delicious. There was a moment where I caught myself just standing over the food- staring with my mouth open. Unfortunately, a rotary member saw me, too. So we had a laugh at my expense.

But the moral of this story is… ITALIAN FOOD IS GREAT!

So dad found this in the July 12th issue of our local newspaper. I thought this was too cool not to share.

Now local newspaper, my standards are high, I better see some SuJu members and other Kpop celebrities in our news. I’ll be watching….

yesterday we performed for a juneteenth celebration put on by the alachua county public library. it was nice to be in a safe space with black people just living & dancing & having fun. it felt especially relieving after the heaviness of charleston and the DR, and the anti-blackness being exposed everywhere. i get tired of being around college students all the time and i was blessed to be at a community event with grandmas and babies and all the ages in-between.

Ex-police chief of speed trap town cleared of wrongdoing

WALDO, Fla. (AP) — The former police chief of a tiny north Florida town known as an infamous speed trap has been cleared of wrongdoing by a state commission after officers accused him of setting a ticket quota and acting unethically.

The Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission made the ruling in the case of former Chief Mike Szabo, whose officers had also accused him of recording their conversations.

After the infighting became public, the small police department was closed down on Oct. 1.

The Gainesville Sun (http://bit.ly/1ML2s3P ) reports that Waldo’s police budget had been largely supported by ticket quota revenue.

The commission found that Szabo violated no moral character standards, a finding that will allow him to continue working in law enforcement.
