This is an FYI. A friend infiltrated a support DT meeting. They are serious and committed. Here are her notes.
A VIEW FROM THE INSIDE OF THE OTHER SIDE Last night I attended a Pro-President “little d” meeting. My summary will be a bit long, however, I want to pass on what we learned, In the art of war it is always advised to know what your enemy is doing, that is why there are spies. Two of the groups I’m involved with have a committee that is subscribed to little d’s supporters newsletters, are members of various FB groups (with specially created profiles) and are on his mailing list for updates.
Last night 3 of us went to a group meeting. What we saw and heard was both scary and informative.
The meeting was led by 5 men and we counted approximately 70 people in the room including us. We counted 13 women.
They started the meeting with a pledge of allegiance to the flag. Then they jumped into discussions, the first being the Marches. It was a lot of WTF and why don’t they just shut up. They discussed the report that there were no arrests so that meant that the police and the media were lying. The leader(s) then gave them an “action item” to find anything to dispute the no arrests report and to put pressure on the police to arrest protestors. Several people in the group admitted to being at the March to try to interfere, but felt they were bullied by the Marchers and had to stop “for their own safety” (actual quote). They questioned why so many people “got away with it” (Marching). It seemed to be a hot point with them.
They moved on to reports from the teams. They have teams and committees with specific tasks, ie: daily phone calls and collect tallies of who makes phone calls to their Reps. It appears they call throughout the day, and each call is either a different issue or their personal favorite.
They have a team who monitor the public blogs and event postings of the Liberal groups (specifically mentioned Indivisible and MoveOn.) They laughed at the Indivisible Guide when one leader said “the Liberals will never get organized and carry any of this out, the snowflakes give up too easily, a little heat and they melt”. They talked about the “visit your representatives office event” that was planned for earlier in the day which was posted on MoveOn and all over FB. They also were at their reps offices, and a handful admitted to going to the Democratic representatives office in their own district to have their voice counted.
They have a team who spies on FB posts. When the man who was with us asked how to do it, he was told that if he was a member of Pantsuit Nation it’s almost an automatic in into most closed groups, and then once you are in one, you can get invited to others. Someone on their team joins all the public and open groups. Their report included reading a few actual posts, in a mimic whining voice, where the members were posting their concerns and frustrations and why bother. They actually cheered this. One leader applauded the report and said, “We don’t care if they like what we have to say, we don’t need them to agree with us. We just need them to give up, shut up and stay out of our way.” They discussed some of the issues and the recent signed orders from the WH. Some of this discussion sounded intelligent, as if they had researched not only the issue, but how to present it to get the buy-in from the group. It felt to us like a persuasion/programming tactic.
They broke into their teams and anyone not on a team was asked to choose one to sit in on. We each went to a different team. Each team talked about their mission and their strategy. The phone team assigned times for each phone call and a number to text after you called. They practiced scripts. The Anti-Abortion team talked about how to plan protests at PP and other clinics, to find the names of Doctors who perform abortions and out them by protesting at their offices and clinics. The communications team discussed the content of their newsletter, the content they were borrowing from other newsletters and articles from Briebart that they wanted to circulate. We didn’t get the names of the other teams that we didn’t sit in on but there were 4 others.
We found out that this group used to be a young republican group and after the election and seeing the actions of the Liberals, they changed to a support little d group to stand up for him and against Liberals.
I don’t believe all groups are this scary, however, they appear to be organized. One of the members in one of my groups, changed her registration to Republican so she could see what they do from the inside. She gets phone calls from a phone bank, sometimes several times a week, about issues and actions she should take, she gets their weekly newsletter and she attended a local Rep meeting. Her report is similar only in that they are very organized, take daily actions and communicate often.
So knowing this, what do we do? Our recommendations: 1.) Don’t give up. 2.) If you Marched, email your local police to write a thank you for their part in keeping the peace. 3.) Get organized. Even if you are not with an organized local group, you can organize yourself. Set aside certain times for certain actions based on what you CAN do. We are all under time constraints and work/family/life commitments, however, find what time you CAN give. **We have found that being with an organized local group that you can see and touch helps us to stay focused and feeling our strength. 4.) Determine what actions you CAN take – when and how many phone calls, emails, visits, protests CAN you do. Focus on that. 5.) Limit your time reading all the comments on FB. Too many can become overwhelming and can end up feeling like you are carrying a larger burden. 6.) Find and cross post the good results that are happening, so we can all see the progress. It may be small steps like the postponement of a cabinet position approval/rejection, however, every step counts. If you have ever attempted to lose weight, you remember how some days feel like nothing is happening, and then little by little the results start to appear. Whatever goal you have reached in little steps, remember the little steps got the momentum started. Stay strong. 7.) Find support when you need it. It’s been shown that if you vent to someone who is also venting, you both stay in the same spot. If you can vent to someone who will HEAR you without judgement and without chiming in, you can both get through it faster and back to feeling stronger. If you both need to vent, take turns; 2 minutes each venting and really HEAR each other, then switch places. When the venting is done, take a positive action. 8.) Take a break. Do something positive for yourself every day (more a few times during the day if you need it) that doesn’t include thinking about politics – exercise, spas, reading a good book, writing a love letter. Find something that bring you joy and shifts your energy. 9.) Don’t give up. We are Stronger Together.
The opposition may believe that a snowflake is fragile when the heat is on, however, although the snowflakes may melt, enough heat can also cause a boil. Together, we can be an avalanche, and if we can focus our boiling angry energy we can be the heat that they fear. I refer to him as “little d”. He has not earned my respect of capitalization nor use of his full name. Plus, on social media I don’t want to add to the algorithm that counts how many people are talking about him.
I did a comparison so you can see how little editing I actually do - a huge chunk of the credit goes to Reshade, namely @pictureamoebae’s Height of Summer profile. (Just as an FYI: I’m using an unreleased updated version of it, but it’s not that far off from the one they have available on their blog.) Another big portion of the credit goes to @brntwaffles and their Astral Lights mod, which I have installed for all of my worlds, including Forgotten Hollow (though I don’t remember if I did Auroras or No Auroras for this one). I really like the combination of the two!
For editing, all I did was very slightly sharpen, brighten, saturate, and add in a bit of blue (since I actually like a slight blue tint better than yellow, just a personal preference). Then I resize to 1080 x 608, and that’s it.
Just as a sidenote, when you see my pics with the really deep shadows like this other one of the farmhouse, that’s a setting of Reshade/Height of Summer that you can turn off/on (you can change Reshade settings while the game is running, which is really cool, since you change it to something more graphics-intensive for just a few snapshots and then change back without having to reboot the game). That one is the Ambient Occlusion setting. And when you see more of a dreamy, fuzzy feel to the pic, as you see here, that’s the Ambient Lighting setting, and it’s one of my favorites - I’ve been using it a lot lately for my Kingswood 1983 pics.
I honestly don’t know much about picture editing, which is why I rely so much on lighting mods to make my game look pretty. Another huge advantage is that my game looks nice while I’m actually playing it, not just afterwards when I edit! And Height of Summer and Astral Lights aren’t mods you put in your Mods folder (they are installed differently), so I can build and upload in my CC-free save and not have to worry about taking them out. I can’t say enough about how awesome they are and how grateful I am to people like pictureamoebae and brntwaffles for making my game so lovely. <3
People sometimes add fanfiction works to Goodreads as if they were published books. Most of the time the people adding these works do not contact the fic authors for permission to do this.
The entries aren’t a reposting of the work, but they do collect each added work under the author’s pseud, provide an area for people to star-rate works, and - in some cases - allow the poster to link to any of the fic author’s social media platforms smackdab on the author’s brand new Goodreads profile. (That the authors themselves never made.)
I just checked and there are some Daredevil authors up on Goodreads. From what I can tell most, if not all, of these fics were added to Goodreads by a single person.
I know there are fic authors out there who won’t mind being listed on Goodreads, and I know there are fic authors who would mind very much.
because I believe in looking out for my little corner of fandom, I went to AO3, sorted by kudos (first 20ish pages), and used that list to do a quick(ish) sweep of DD fic authors on Goodreads. (Just an fyi, in some cases I would find a GR profile for a DD author, but the works listed under their name weren’t from Daredevil at all but another fandom, usually the broader MCU or Teen Wolf.)
I’ve got two lists here - one list of authors whose works I DID find on Goodreads and one list of authors whose work I DID NOT find on Goodreads. The second list is not comprehensive, just more of a heads-up to authors I figured would likely see this post because they’re still in the fandom and/or because we’re mutuals.
(I don’t know the Tumblr handles for a few of these authors, so if you do, could you nudge them this way? All considered, I figure it’s better for affected authors to be aware of this than not.)
So! Lists under the cut. And then options after that.
Always wondered what would happen if the boys of BMP2 had Facebook accounts of their own?
Prince Kevin (whom I ❤️ to bits, fyi) just seems like the type (yeah, we all have that ONE friend) to show off his bod and go around having shirtless profile pics (I did consider Oliver, but that comment Max made there was just so super spot-on I changed my mind 😂) … and Sieg with that insensitive remark (always knew he loved to troll on poor Hayden/Henry as much as Butler Loyd) and Butler Loyd with that crappy hashtag attempt 😂😂😂…. Then there’s Ivan and his one liners and the New Mike (I liked calling him that so it stuck, I’ll put his real name if i ever get to think of another one of these posts…..maybe) who just always has to be the one with the last word 😂😂
Decided that Henry Hayden was a more suitable name since after all I think Prince Hayden was orginally known as Prince Henry anyway ….
Eve - My best friend. She’s a singer and an artist.
Judas - One of my acquaintances. She’s also an artist.
Isaac - Yet another acquaintance. He’s very creative, more so than the rest of us.
Luna - The dreaded weeaboo.
Alright. This started one day in art class, which Luna (who’s new to the school) was placed in. I noticed that she had a lot of anime merchandise with her, which I didn’t take as a good sign. The art teacher asked me to show her where some of the art supplies were, and I complied. At the time, I was working on a request for Eve. Said request happened to be a drawing of an anime character. Luna saw the art and started asking me a bunch of questions about anime (which I know nothing about). She went on and on about Attack on Titan and Vocaloid, and it was driving me insane. I managed to block her out and kept on drawing. At the end of class, she asked for my phone number and Skype name. I don’t know what compelled me to make this stupid decision, but I gave them to her. Within two hours, I had received about 15 anime-related texts from her.
Fast-forward to the next week. Now she wasn’t just sending me anime shit, but furry shit, too. Most of said furry shit was art of her Mary-Sue OC. During another dreaded art class, Judas said something about Vocaloid. Don’t judge me, but I think the actual program is pretty damn cool. I started commenting on Sachiko, one of the newer voicebanks. Then Luna decided to butt in and piss me off.
“OMG! Samson! You like Vocaloid?!?!?”
I didn’t even bother saying anything. Luna eventually found my Instagram account (which is under the same username as my Skype, fyi). She followed me and I immediately recognized who it was. She had “KAWAIIIIIII” shit all over her profile page and her pictures were centered around the “moe desu desu” scene as well.
After a bit of scrounging around for evidence, I learned that Luna had been pulling the same shit on Eve, Isaac, and Judas. Eve apparently got the brunt of it. Luna was designing dresses for her, calling her her “best friend”, and texting her incessantly. Isaac was deemed a “furry” because he drew a centaur one time. Judas, being the Vocaloid nerd, was constantly “MIKU DESU”-ed.
For some reason, Luna was obsessed with us. It kept growing worse, and it still IS. She started finding out things that she never should’ve known about, such as an (unrelated) bullying incident, my last name, and lots of other undisclosed information. Every time I went down to the office to get cough drops (I have pollen allergies that make my throat scratchy), she would be lurking by the door. I’m still unable to make Luna fuck off, even though I blocked her number and I’m actively trying to stay as far away from her as I can.
Chad Michael Murray was actually the worst friend a person could have.
It all started on what began as a normal Friday. Jared woke up, knocked loudly on Chad’s door, took Harley and Sadie for a run, came back to shower, knocked loudly on Chad’s door again, and started breakfast. He hummed a happy tune quietly with a smile in place as he grabbed food from the refrigerator and cabinets. Eventually Chad stumbled in, more squinty-eyed than usual, and running his hands through his spiky-blond, unruly bed hair.
“Morning, Sunshine,” Jared grinned, breaking the eggs into the sizzling pan.
“Fuck you, asswipe,” Chad spat. Pulling on a chair at the breakfast bar so rough it screeched across the linoleum floor, he hauled himself up in it and glared at the back of Jared’s cheery head.
“You’re in a worse mood than usual,” Jared snorted, knowing that no matter how bad of a mood Chad was in, it was just an inherent part of his personality - nothing personal.
“Yeah, I am,” Chad groaned, nearly slamming his forehead into the counter top as he let it plop down. “I was having a great night – made out with Sophia for, like, three hours straight, ate pizza, jacked off –“
“Really, dude?” Jared interrupted.
“– listened to some music, and then fell asleep, but not before fucking remembering that your gay boyfriend was coming over today,” he finished as though Jared never spoke.
“Did you just call my boyfriend gay?” Jared asked incredulously.
“Uh, yeah. Because he is.” There was a pause.
“Yep, that is true,” came with the shake of a head. “But what’s the big deal? Jensen comes over almost every weekend.”
“I know, but, like,” Chad groaned and slammed his head back against the counter top, “when he’s over you’re all mushy and gross and I can only handle so much gay in my life, okay? And when he’s here, it’s double the gay. It’s gay multiplied. Gay squared. That’s too much gay.” Jared rolled his eyes and tossed the English muffins in the toaster.
“Why don’t you go stay with Sophia or one of your other friends?” Jared suggested.
“Sophia is having a girl’s night or something tonight, I don’t really know. She said, ‘Me and the girls want a wine and pedicure night,’ and I was like, ‘Fine, I’m gonna have a beer and video game night’ – which isn’t different than every other night, but, y’know. And I have no other friends, Jared, why else do you think I’m living with your gay ass? That and you have the best gaming system so it was kind of a no-brainer.”
“Feelin’ the love, Chad.”
“Don’t feel the love from me, your boyfriend’ll be here in a few hours.”
