USGP Louisville: Derby City Cup Day 1

Covered in mud, Drew Dillman couldn’t have been happier.

Drew, 16, of Fairdale, had just finished as the top-ranked American in his junior division at the EuroCross Camp on Jan. 1 in Izegem, Belgium, a town of about 25,000 located 50 miles west of Brussels.

Behind THE Barriers,  USGP Louisville: Derby City Cup Day 2

Don Walker stopped in at Market St this morning after meeting with a couple of metro personnel.
We are lucky to have him here. Don wants to help bring the velodrome to Louisville.
Welcome him.

from Jackie Green, Bike Couriers Bike Shop on the KyCycList, Sept 28th 2011

Don Walker is moving to Louisville. He started the North American Handmade Bicycle Show in 2005 and is a big name in the frame-building world, a ‘cross supporter, and a track nut. …And apparently he’s got designs on a velodrome in Louisville? Hotness.

Welcome, Don.

Shit Cyclocrossers Say…about the 2013 Cyclocross Worlds in Louisville.

Meet your Louisville Euro Cross Campers!

Drew Dillman (Bob’s Red Mill), John Francisco and Luke Haley (Red Zone Cycling) are all three headed to Geoff Proctor’s Euro Cross Camp in Belgium. Slots are limited, so to have 3 out of the 8? kids be from the 502 is 100% rad.

Is our CX cycling region kick ass? Is our OVCX series kick ass? Hell yeah they are!!

We have three local boys who got the call-up this morning that they have been invited to EuroCrossCamp. Drew Dillman of Bob’s Red Mill and Luke Haley and John Francisco of Red Zone Cycling with the proper funds will be headed over to Belgium in just a few short weeks to compete is some heavy duty European Cross before coming back to represent us at Nationals in January.

3 locals chosen the year before Worlds will be in our backyard - sounds like we will not only be cheering for other Americans next year, but perhaps some of our own homegrown.

BEHIND THE BARRIERS is back for Season 2, and they are already up to EPISODE 2.

More J-POW, less TJ, but the shenanigans don’t stop.

NOTE: 7:58 into the above video, Bart Wellens makes barrier bunny-hopping look straight FOOLISH, running the barriers at Mach 2. Watch it over and over agin.

Wellens and Peeters are all up in your CLIMBS, East-Enders!

As you know, Bart Wellens and Rob Peeters were here in Louisville a few weeks back with a Belgian TV crew scouting the Louisville 2013 CX Worlds venue, Eva Bandman. This is the video.

Note: looks like Rose Island Road and one of the tasty climbs out there at the end about a minute in.
